Title: Draft Begins Monday, January 8th!
Post by: NetsGM on January 06, 2007, 04:52:44 PM
Get your Draft Sheets in! (Submit them here: http://forums.ssbabasketball.com/ssba_pages/draft.php )
Rules: http://kb.ssbabasketball.com/wiki/Draft_%28Rules%29
Preview: http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/draft/draftplayers-pos.htm
Order: http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/draftorder.htm

Quote
Each team will send me a list of players (via pm). This list will contain the players, in order, that you want to draft. If a player in that list is taken, I simply go to the next player on your list. You only need to include enough players on your list to cover up to your pick. For example, if you have the 10th pick, you only need to include 10 guys, since one of those guys is guaranteed to be there.

For the 2nd round draft picks, please indicate whether you want to exercise the 2nd year option.

You can send modifications of your list to me by 5pm of the day your pick is scheduled to be made. When sending modifications, re-send the entire list (i.e. DON'T say something like "switch this guy and that guy"). When I go to make your pick, I don't want to have to go through 6 different PM's to see your entire list.

The list can be conditional, what I mean by this is that you can say "if Player(s) X is gone, I want to trade my pick to Team X", or "If Player(s) X is available, then I want to trade my pick to Team X". If you have a condition like this in there, then I need a private message from the other team saying that they accept.

If you want to trade draft picks in any other manner, that do not require a condition to be met in order to go through (i.e. do not require a certain player to be available in the draft), then simply post the trades in the Completed Trades forum, in which the other team can reply that they accept the offer.

If you trade for a pick after the end of the playoffs and subsequently do not have room on your roster for any of your draft picks, the salary of the last player drafted will be increased to reflect what would have been the salary of the dropped player.  So, if you acquire a 2nd round pick but forfeit it due to a lack of roster space,  the last player your drafted will have their salary increased $332,817 for the first year and $465,850 for the second year.  This will happen for every forfeited pick.  This is done to prevent teams from “dumping” their unwanted contracts of draft picks on teams with no room left on the roster with no consequence to either team.

Now, there comes an issue that I will be able to see the order that everyone will be drafted, and thus know who will be available when.  This creates an obvious advantage for me as it would allow me to know how to position myself to get the players I want. However, I WILL NOT READ YOUR PM'S UNTIL I RUN YOUR PICK. You can monitor this. If you haven't noticed, go to your private message area. Your "Sentbox" lists private messages you have sent that have been read by the other party. Your "Outbox" contains private messages you have sent that have yet to be read by the other party. By checking these 2 places, you'll know whether or not I have read your messages.

Because I will not be reading private messages until I literally make the selections, I cannot verify that these trades can be made. For example, I cannot verify that you will have a pick in one of 2 years, and if you include players I cannot verify that the salaries will match. Since I can't do it, you HAVE to check yourself. If you include a condition, and the trade doesn't work, the trade will be ignored and you will retain your pick.

If you have not submitted a draft file to me by the time you make a pick, the computer will pick for you. AND THE COMPUTER IS HORRIBLE AT DRAFTING! So get your files to me by the day of your pick, for your own sake.

How come that I can not open the draft order page?

How come that I can not open the draft order page?

Because the extensions were due last night at midnight, and he has to wait until after the extentions to click "End Season". And the draft order does not come up until you click End Season and all the Retirees are announced.

Draft order is now up:

As much as it pains me for the Kings to have the #1 pick.

Congrats Kings. A hard fought battle there, but in the end, the lesser team won ;)

2nd is still a good spot, but have to narrow a few choices.

this is ridicolous, never in the history of any sim leagues worst team gets two times in a row 1st pick as 1st seed in lottery. Even if not was.

You're the Great Prophet, there's no doubt anymore.

Well, now we all got front row seats to watch the ugly Kings go for 3 top picks in a row this season.
They sucked with Magic and they'll suck with Magic and Isiah.

Can't believe Kwame and Gasol retired but Dirk decided to play on. That sucks ...

oh, and before I forget, HAPPY 2007 to everyone, just returned from beautiful winter holidays ...

Wow, a lot of still good players retired.....big changes around the league - especially with Hornets professing to blow it all up. Big wow to Ty's retirement - Blazers, I feel your pain and have been there. Also a big wow to KG....keeps on keeping on - musta loved the playoff ride to keep going at 40.

Bah, should have taken the Blazers 2019 first in that deal.

But anyway, i'm delighted.

Blazers are falling apart, as well as the Celtics. Those 2 picks are going to be really nice.

Man, coming within a win of the CF and hearing that from the worst team in the league really keeps me amused all day. With like 10 teams holding massive cap space for FA and the Kings exactly 1.5 players deep there's about a ZERO possibility of either Blazers or Celtics finishing LOWER than the Kings ...

But props for staying upbeat through all that ugly years ...

sorry i don´t understand draft order this year.
first round with no difference from season standings but second round is different????
i had 10 worst record and sonics was a PO team. how can it be that sonics 2nd round pick will be before mine???

Title: Re: Draft Begins Monday, January 8th!
Post by: WizardsGM on January 09, 2007, 04:11:59 PM
2nd round goes by record, not lottery or playoff positioning

I think every team in the east was better than every team in the West, or darn close  :D

Title: Re: Draft Begins Monday, January 8th!
Post by: CelticsGM on January 09, 2007, 04:36:31 PM
The draft order in FBB doesn't use tie breaker rules. There's simply a draw among teams with identical records. This goes for round 1 and round 2

As the nuggets stated, in round 2 only the record is used regardless of playoff appearances.

For an example look at the Heat/Bulls/Wolves all finishing with a 46-36 record and Celtics/Blazers/Spurs at 48-34.
In round 1 it's Wolves then Bulls then Heat, and Blazers then Spurs then Celtics (of course :-( )
In round 2 it's Heat then Bulls then Wolves, and Spurs then Celtics then Blazers.

i have a question, does FBB use HOF at all ? i mean i can understand Shaq and players who just had few seasons before going into pension didnt get to HOF, but players like Hoffa for example who was here for 10+ seasons and avg 25-30ppg and 12rpg during his career, won many awards, etc bla bla bla bla, didnt get into it ??? who does ???? It seems like even Yao wont make into HOF 'cause his career avg's are below 40ppg and 20rpg along with 5bpg.

What is wrong with me. I am such an idiot for resigning richardson. I was not paying attention and did not realize I would have been under the cap, plus I still could have resigned him in fa  :bash:

Title: Re: Draft Begins Monday, January 8th!
Post by: BlazersGM on January 09, 2007, 04:54:51 PM
actually when i saw you did, i asked myself the same question, why, oh why he did it :D

and i didnt re-sign Bird to have some cap space for next season for Ty, and then that BASTARD hang up his boots at early age and even worse Hoffa does too, now i have almost 30 million of space dammit.

Again, you need 25000 HOF points for getting into the HOF.

You get 1000 points for MVP, DPOY or ROY
You get 750 for ASG MVP
You get 500 for a title, ASG (or Rookie/Soph game) selection or All League 1st team.

... and you get 1250 for winning that fucking 3pt shootout or slam dunk competition !!!

So Yao has 8 MVPs and I'm sure each year he was at the ASG too, so that makes at least 2000 a season, add 3 ASP MVPs and a title + playoff MVP and he has close to 20.000 HOF points in these 8 years alone.
He'll get introduced easily ...

the biggest downside of the HOF stuff is that players like shaq should have started in 2005 with probably more than 25000 points already (which apparently didn't happen)

well, that just proves FBB is ridicolous, so after some 50 seasons we'll just Yao and 2-3 more guys in HOF, doesnt make sense at all.

Title: Re: Draft Begins Monday, January 8th!
Post by: BlazersGM on January 09, 2007, 06:07:51 PM
and well Tom, you really did study very good this FBB ? doesnt make sense to me, so many great player with at least 8,9 seasons of playing not making it, its stupid just.

well in defence of the program - how many truly elite players have played under 10 seasons and made the HOF in real life?

not exactly. there's a lot more HOF points you can achieve:

1250 ... 3-Point Shootout Champion
1250 ... Slam-Dunk Contest Champion
1000 ... Most Valuable Player
1000 ... Defensive Player of the Year
1000 ... Rookie of the Year
750 ... All-Star Game MVP
500 ... All-Star Game Participant
500 ... All-Star Rookie Game Participant
500 ... Rookie Game MVP
500 ... All-League First Team
500 ... All-Defensive Team
500 ... All-Rookie Team
500 ... Sixth Man of the Year
500 ... Champion
500 ... Playoff MVP
250 ... All-League Second Team
250 ... All-Defensive Second Team
250 ... All-Rookie Second Team
125 ... All-League Third Team
100 ... Player of the month
100 ... Rookie of the month
10 ... Player of the week
0 ... Player of the game

So i'm pretty sure guys like Pettit, Emeka, Dirk and probably a few more are in the running to get introduced as well !

I have to say i really like this draft. Plenty of pretty good players.

But i'm completely undecided. Why does it the best player in draft have to play the same position my best player is?!

Damn!

I doubt, Yao earned 29540 points in 13 seasons after winning 35 awards (MVP. All 1st etc.), 12 ASG, 54 POTW, 25 POTM awards. Nobody is even close to that.

Dirk for example has just 7545 points, he'll never make it either.
