Title: AI trade speculations
Post by: CelticsGM on December 07, 2006, 06:31:56 AM
One thing is certain, something needs to be done ... quickly.

And I'd try this (in exactly this order):
1. Trade CWebb for Yao or Dwight
2. Trade AI for whatever package brings the most talented youth in return and hand over the reigns to Iggy ... to bring Oden to the City of Brotherly Love.

Now what's your take ?

CWebb for Yao or Dwight? :O

Title: Re: AI trade speculations
Post by: BlazersGM on December 07, 2006, 07:33:18 AM
he wont be traded just as he wasnt in last couple of years because of an idiot GM that runs the Sixers and cant make up his mind on AI every f****ng season. I hope that idiot resigns as GM and they bring someone who knows the job, tank until the end of season to get a TOP 1-3 pick in draft , get rid of CWebb and get Oden or if not possible OJ Mayo in the draft, use some cash in FA and then they'll have a chance on achieving something....or if they Trade him, i hope that'll be to the Bulls in Gordon for AI type of deal :D

Title: Re: AI trade speculations
Post by: CelticsGM on December 07, 2006, 07:55:33 AM
Problem is, you can't tank with AI. He's too good. And this is probably what I respect him most for, giving it all on any given night, despite the atrocious team record.

Any player with any pride would do the same, only management can think of tanking strategies.

And that is the very reason I see Earvin bolt the Kings after his rookie contract is up. Because he doesn't like how team management fucks up season after season only to climb a few draft spots.

yeah you cant, was a joke, but they gonna end up very low anyway and i really hope they waste this season and get Oden in the draft, if im not wrong if they dont re-sign Cwebb they'll have some little cash for FA too

Let's not be ridiculous here. No, everybody doesn't want him. In fact, I bet the majority of teams out there will not inquire. Iverson has the heart of a lion and outrageous scoring ability.

However, he's a shoot-first and always player regardless of what position he plays. No one can play with him. Seriously, I would love to see the list of players who have had career years along side Iverson. Maybe there are a bunch, but I seriously doubt it.

He's also a huge contract, and whatever team he goes to, their offense has to revolve around him. Any team with a young stud they are trying to develop (ie Carmelo, LBJ, Wade, Bosh, etc..) would not want Iverson. Any team that is having success this season probably won't want Iverson.

I see teams like Boston, the Knicks, Charlotte, Memphis, etc. being the ones intersted in Iverson. A team low in the standings without a great primary scorer (I believe Paul Pierce is the most overrated player in the NBA).

Let's face it Iverson may be the greatest pure scorer of all time. He's a great basketball player. But he's not a great teammate and he has proven that you can't win on the shoulders of one player.

As long as he doesnt end up in Toronto

Title: Re: AI trade speculations

There is no way he can. No way Philly trades him without getting Bargs or a first (IMO), and we can't trade a first.

If Philly does the rumoured deal without the first (i think it was Rasho, Fred, Jose and Jorge), pretty sure Billy King will be hung publically.

I hope they hung him regardless of outcome, i want AI to stay in Philly, but with worst managment in history of NBA (yeah Tom, they're worse then Krause and co.) its impossible for him to achieve anything unfortunately.

i would like to see him in Denver, but im afraid it wouldnt function good, however best option is Minnesotta, KG and AI would be Shaq and Kobe of NBA IMHO. Just not Boston, there's no future there, its same crap as Philly

Title: Re: AI trade speculations
Post by: RaptorsGM on December 09, 2006, 11:29:33 AM
I actually will go out on a limb and say AI and KG will not function together well at all. When compared to the Shaq and Kobe tandem, I think the styles of the players are radically different. Much success came from the laker tandem because of Kobe's ability to consitently knock down outside jumpers which kept the defense honest, which opened up the lane for Kobe to drive or dish to Shaq (or vice versa).

KG is not anywhere close to as dominate as Shaq was down low (of course, they play different positions and very different styles).

I see KG getting sick of Iverson quite quickly...there will be many many times when KG has the hot hand and Iverson will decide to take the game into his own hands anyway, something that he usually does well, but anyone that is familar with Iverson's game knows you can never dicount a 6-26 shooting night...

Title: Re: AI trade speculations
Post by: BlazersGM on December 09, 2006, 11:35:00 AM
i disagree, they're brothers by dope so they will function pretty well i believe and Iverson proved also that he can play even a backup role if needed, he would be more useful at PG at Wolves i think

Title: Re: AI trade speculations
Post by: WizardsGM on December 09, 2006, 01:56:52 PM
I actually think KG and AI would work together because KG prefers to defer to teammates and prefers to be 2nd option.

Title: Re: AI trade speculations
Post by: NetsGM on December 09, 2006, 03:14:58 PM
I think AI and KG would be magnificent.  With AI driving, KG would have a ton of finishing opportunities and spot up midrange shots.  Not to mention, KG's defensive rebounding would start a heckuva lot of fastbreak's for AI.

Title: Re: AI trade speculations

on RealGM

"No trade," owner Glen Taylor said during the Wolves' 110-103 victory over Utah on Friday night at Target Center. "It isn't that I don't like him. Just money-wise, it wouldn't work out."

Knicks want him but thats impossible he'll go there, i think he'll go to Chicago, Pacers or Boston, i hope Chicago

Title: Re: AI trade speculations

Oh man, KG and Iverson would be absolute match made in heaven. It's just exactly what they need. KG is really a unique superstar. One of the best PF of all time who doesn't demand the ball at all and don't care about his numbers which is really hard to find.  He actually demands a guy like Iverson.

Man, i'm so excited. AI to Sota, wow. Everyone is pushing it, the media, fans...It's like destined to be so.

KG can ask for AI as much as he wants, if King isn't a complete idiot he'll take the offer that helps the SIXERS the most, this isn't the Bulls post-champ sellout where they'd accomodate every former star (who had helped them to 3 titles)

Title: Re: AI trade speculations
Post by: KingsGM-old on December 11, 2006, 03:37:17 PM
Well, King loves Foye. And you cant really say anything about other offers.

My gut feeling is tellin me Boston. Minny scenario is just too good to be true.

on RealGM its all between Cats and Kings 50/50 with Boston falling behind and Minny waiting 'cause Sixers want to try 2-2 deal 1st, i wish he goes to Minny, just not Kings or Boston. Cats would be fine with 1 more addition, Felton-Ai-Morrisson-Emeka-?

with Adam's ONLY speciality is scoring I wonder if he and AI can co-exist. But it would be amazing combining the 41% AI shoots with the 36% from Adam. They would need to jack up 85 shots between them for the Bobbies to reach 80pts.

Yeah. Everyone is talking about Sac now. If that's true Billy King is really a idiot.

Considering AI;

Iverson
Martin
Artest
Rahim
Miller

ain't bad.

Title: Re: AI trade speculations
Post by: BlazersGM on December 12, 2006, 02:12:24 PM
King the idiot wants Sac to take Dalembert and they give Miller, and thats bad. But  that insider guy told on realgm that he'll go to Minny for sure if Minny can find 1st rounder to send them in some 3-4-5 teams involved deal. And i think AI really wants to go there or Chicago(who offered nothing) so they moved the deadline to wait and see if Minny can find that filler and 1st rounder

jesus, im freakin out, i've spent 10h today in front of the computer refreshing pages and reading some 80 pages on RealGM, fucking maddness, like WWIII is starting or not, thank god it seems SacTown is  not a candidate anymore, but now i have a good feeling with this latest news at least, the dark horse "Denver" or Minny seems to have largest chances, im scepctical however how Melo and AI would work out, i believe great, but im not sure, and it seems things will go until friday because of MN, something tells me AI really really wants to go there and Minny is calling around who'll give them 1st rounder for James or someone so they can ship Foye, 1st etc for AI, and if that happens which i hope there's gonna be few changes as it seems, BD going to SacTown, Bibby to GSW, J-Rich to ????, could be a true blockbuster involving few superstars.....BUT I CANT WAIT !! MAKE THE GOD DAMN DEAL !!! Just not Boston PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Minnesota More Involved In Trade Talks Than Reported?
13th December, 2006 - 12:55 pm
Newsday -
Minnesota has been more involved in the Allen Iverson than widely reported, according to a source who characterized Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor's statements to the contrary as "a smokescreen."

"If Kevin Garnett goes in to Taylor and says, "I want this to happen,' then this is going to happen," the person said. [READ]

no , but that insider guy told thats why we'll have to wait friday probably, 'cause altough Nuggets and GSW are mentioned the most, everybody knows that AI actually wants to go to Minny so they're trying to get a 1st,ship Foye and expirings to get him. And WolveSGM didnt want AI then he changed his mind next day, why ? 'cause KG went there and told him, i want him if possible. Same thing AI seems to be doing with Philly, he cant refuse, but he is sending vibes that he wont be happy in Charlotte etc so teams dont want unhappy player, and he is obviously praying that Minny finds that 1st so he can go there, he wants to be a contender, not same shit like Philly now. If Minny cant find it im sure he'll want to go to just 2 teams, Denver or LAC, 'cause to go to those other teams still negotiating is like staying in Philly, same shit.

how can you believe it will work?
Just watch the US team playing with too many me first guys.
The nuggest now have 3 guys who just don´t care about defense.
Just imagine what kind of veteran leadership AI will bring to Melo and Jr.
They will take every chance to shoot they can get.
poor marcus and who ever play pf.
hopefully it is someone like evans who doesn´t care about scoring.

As for the sixers: this trade makes only sense if you are going to tank the season.
2 non lotto first and 2 veterans is all you can get for the best scorer in the NBA???
If everybody is coming out as expected this can be a very deep talented draft but outside of the top 3 none will be NBA ready soon.
They still have Cwebb who should be bought out imo and the overpaid dalembert who could be traded soon.

Title: Re: AI trade speculations
Post by: CelticsGM on December 20, 2006, 04:54:24 AM
Man, I wish Billy King could join us here in SSBA.

I doubt you could trade the leading scorer in SSBA, even if he doesn't care about defense, for two non-lottery picks (and you almost can't get further away from the lottery than with DEN and DAL picks). We could assign him the Knicks, let him have the IM screen name "samoth haisi" and tell him he sure won't get critizised here, promised ...
(too bad there's little on the Knicks we could rip from him, maybe the Mavs would be better for all of us)

The worst part is, I have JR Smith on my fantasy team. He's useless crap now. Forget the "he'll be wide open 40min a game now" bullshit. Sure he'll be wide open 40min a game, but if he'll even get the rock three times in than span he can call that a great game ...
:-(

Title: Re: AI trade speculations
Post by: SpursGM-old on December 20, 2006, 10:32:08 AM
I disagree on the picks.  The Dallas pick will be 28-30...no brainer.

However Denver's pick is trickier.  Currently it is #21.  They are adding Iverson but will be without Melo for 14 more games and JR for 9.  Iverson alone won't carry the Nuggets team any further than he carried the Sixers this year.  And practice time is very limited to start with so these guys will have to mesh on the run.  Not to mention putting a player use to taking 25-30 shots per game on a team that is losing 12-14 shots.  Someone between JR, Melo & AI will not be happy.  Then take into account that Denver has played 15 games against the East and only 8 against the West.  Things don't look bright for Denver to really improve this year.

So at the minimum I see Spurs, Mavs, Suns, Jazz, Pistons, Rockets, Lakers, Cavs, Bulls and possibly Magic with better records by season's end.  That would make Denver's pick #19 and it could be as low as 15-16.
