Title: Raptors rebuilding? Post by: RaptorsGM on November 20, 2006, 10:34:50 AM With 60 mil in expiring contracts, the Raptors feel it might be time for a nice change in some of the faces we toss out there night in and night out.
With that being said, I am only inclined to keep ONE player untouchable, that of course being Max. Everyone else from the recent Championship team is being vaulted onto the market. AVAILABLE PLAYERS: C Robert Swift - 29, 7'0, 245. Contract: 14.8 mil expiring --> Swift has always been a top defender and rebounder with the ability to score too. Coming off back to back 14-12 and 13-12 seasons, Swift is an option for anyone looking for a top defender. Ratings declined a bit in TC, but everyone here knows that hell, TC really doesn't matter. Swift has played 5 seasons of double-double basketball for the Raptors, and has many, many years worth of playoff experience. PF George Boykins - 30, 6'10, 227. Contract: 13.3 mil expiring --> Boykins was the catalyst to both runs the last 2 years, including the Championship. Coming off a spectacular 23 and 10 season in which he was playing with some other very capable scorers and sharing the ball. Made it to the freethrow line over 7 times a game last year, and made 78%. These are easy points that you can expect from Boykins. SF Josh Childress - 32, 6'8, 210. Contract: 12.1 mil expiring --> Quite possibly the best all-around player on a team filled with very good all-around players. He is 32, but one would have to bring up the issue of the Matrix playing some of the best ball of his career at 37. Chills can be expected on to play great defense, score from both inside and outside, rebound the ball well for his position. SF Roberto Dickau-- not much of a player anymore, but a 19 mil expiring contract might be enough to garner some interest. SG Alphonse Butler - 29, 6'4, 197 Contract: 3 more years, approx 15.3/year --> Butler is one of the premier shooters in this league and can play SG or PG for anyone. Able to shoot at an exceptionally high percentage, and rebounds and scores well for his position. Stats are deflated somewhat by the quality of his teammates. BEST OF THE REST: SG Micah Hunter - Great scorer on great contract. PG Curtis Sura - A great option to backup and spot start. Decent contract. SO WHAT AM I LOOKING FOR? First rounders, and lots of them. I'd really like to rebuild through the draft. Also, of course youth and potential at any position. Don't mind taking crippling contracts if they come with picks - FA is not a viable option to rebuild through. |
