Title: Playoffs: Finals Down Post by: GrizzliesGM on October 22, 2006, 01:30:42 AM I had a really fun season these past few month(es) and good luck to everyone in the playoffs.
I am kind of scared to play the Suns in the 1rst round. Hinrich is out and I think my team can take advantage of that and really play well. On the other hand, I expect Petitt to score 40+ points every game. Either way, we will see what happens. Good luck Suns. Title: Re: Playoff Discussion Post by: SunsGM on October 22, 2006, 01:52:21 AM Good Luck to you as well, as we've both mentioned this should be an interesting series,Especially with you having the homecourt. Monday cant get here soon enough to see how it turns out IMO!
Title: Re: Playoff Discussion Post by: KingsGM-old on October 22, 2006, 10:08:53 AM Lol. This is like 64th time i'm meeting with Warriors in the first round. I hope tradition is going to continue. :)
Title: Re: Playoff Discussion Post by: BlazersGM on October 22, 2006, 01:33:57 PM 4-4 sim but fuck
i absolutely dont have any hope of advancing to second round, Hoffa is out and i dont have a sub for him, its my weakest position and most important player so Spurs will have an easy sweep in round 1 Title: Re: Playoff Discussion Post by: SpursGM-old on October 22, 2006, 05:30:21 PM Finished with a 4-3 sim but had Stocker out the first three games. Then Gragg got injured in game 1 and missed the next 3 - all losses. Closed out with 3 wins incl Mavs & Kings to end the sim. I was hoping to be injury free (accomplished) and maintain home court in the first round (accomplished). And with Hoffa going out to injury my match up with the Blazers improves greatly.

I hope tradition is going to continue. :) The tradition of getting your butt kicked by the Warriors? I hope that one continues as well.... Title: Re: Playoff Round 1 Discussion Post by: KingsGM-old on October 23, 2006, 01:40:22 PM Yep, i think i'm something like 4-1 against you in the playoffs. I would love that buttkicking to continue.... 8)

And you know that.
Title: Re: Playoff Round 1 Discussion Post by: CelticsGM on October 23, 2006, 07:47:33 PM he loves to play that "woulda-coulda" game. Thinks it's a given he would have won with Iggy or so.
like in "i coulda won tha djsl title if sam stayed healthy". (sure, but you easily coulda have lost as well being at full strength.) Title: Re: Playoff Round 1 Discussion Post by: KingsGM-old on October 23, 2006, 07:59:21 PM he loves to play that "woulda-coulda" game. That's the way is been all my life. Title: Re: Playoff Round 1 Discussion Post by: NetsGM on October 24, 2006, 05:47:28 PM Hey guys,
I had to run off to work early and wasn't able to SSBA in before I left, so I'm going to have to move everything back one day. Sorry about that. Tomorrow I'm looking to run the first round and get the extensions out. Title: Re: Playoff Round 1 Discussion Post by: CelticsGM on October 24, 2006, 06:16:43 PM booooooo

round 2 tomorrow. Hope to get extensions out in the next 24 hours. Title: Re: Playoff Round 1 Discussion Post by: WizardsGM on October 25, 2006, 12:21:17 PM Thanks for keeping us up to date Derek.
Will the extensions again be under the "GM Actions" section or will you be providing us with a link? Title: Re: Playoff Round 1 Discussion Post by: WizardsGM on October 25, 2006, 12:25:00 PM Congrats to the Celtics and Warriors for pulling off upsets in the 1st round.
And the Magic lost so the Cavs pick I traded away is gauranteed to be lower than the Magic pick I received! Very excited! Title: Re: Playoff Round 1 Discussion Post by: RaptorsGM on October 25, 2006, 12:40:45 PM Damn....I mean, it's great to make the 2nd round, but to have to face the best team is just too tough without my starting SG (ironically the biggest reason I was able to get by the Hornets last year on my wy to the title).
I have some tricks up my sleeve, but these tricks will extend it to game 6 if I'm lucky. Just happy to get out of the first round though. Won 4 straight after losing the first game big at home. Title: Re: Playoff Round 1 Discussion Post by: MavsGM on October 25, 2006, 01:06:16 PM Mavs advanaced to the second round. After losing the first game we won four straight, LeBron was money in the first round. Next up Suns.
Title: Re: Playoff Round 1 Discussion Post by: BlazersGM on October 25, 2006, 01:54:42 PM good series Spurs and good luck further, too bad Hoffa wasnt able to play, it would've been more interesting.
Title: Re: Playoff Round 1 Discussion Post by: SpursGM-old on October 25, 2006, 03:28:39 PM Thanks Blazers, Hoffa probably would have tipped the scales in your favor. Although with him out I tried some lineup changes just to see what would happen. And I had some good results plus some bad results. And I would have played the series differently facing a full-strength Blazer team.
Now to face the "red-hot" Warriors fresh off of their first round upset. Best of luck. Go Suns Title: Re: Playoff Round 1 Discussion Post by: CelticsGM on October 25, 2006, 03:42:55 PM now that's nice, nearly sweeping the hottest team in the league.
(and that was more concerned with it's 2nd round opponent too) :bash: and boy, was that a nice effort. Went unbeaten on the road, taking all 3 from a 32-9 home team. Of course we got outrebounded big, but not as bad as during the season, where the difference was 18, 18, and 13. Unbelievable scoring (116ppg on 50%, 42 from 3pt range) and 4 fewer turnovers were the difference (the Cavs still were good on offense themselves, 105ppg on 45%, 46% from 3pt, and nealry 6 more rebounds will win you many games. But not this time, not against the threesome of Matrix, Dirk and Trump. Marion with 23/8/3 on 56% shooting had his best playoff series I can remember from him. Dirk had his troubles with Manning (22/7 on 51%) but held against with 21/6/4 and forced 3.4 TOs. Trump owned Gomes. 17ppg, 10apg, 1.4 TOpg, 62% shooting (54% from 3pt) and NOT A SINGLE FREETHROW !!! and not to forget the great defense from Kwame/Strait against Berkowitz, who "only" got 14/11 on 36%. YESSSSS ! Next up, the Heat. I lost 3 of 4 against them and it was ugly sometimes (the only win coming on day 2 of the season). Guess I have to dig deep in the trick-box here ... 8) Title: Re: Playoff Round 1 Discussion Post by: SpursGM-old on October 25, 2006, 04:26:59 PM Quote round 2 tomorrow. Derek....DC due by 12:00 tomorrow OR you will run the sim tomorrow before you go to work? Title: Re: Playoff Round 1 Discussion Post by: MavsGM on October 25, 2006, 04:34:22 PM Go Suns :lol2: Almost missed itTitle: Re: Playoff Round 1 Discussion Post by: MavsGM on October 25, 2006, 04:36:44 PM not against the threesome of Matrix, Dirk and Trump. Sounds like they had fun. :lmao:Title: Re: Playoff Round 1 Discussion Post by: CelticsGM on October 25, 2006, 04:58:49 PM Like you have something to wait. more than you I guess. But when you see Mickael Pietrus and Ernest Austin (!) leading your team you just know you're in trouble ... :lol2: not against the threesome of Matrix, Dirk and Trump. Sounds like they had fun. :lmao:... you won't believe how MUCH fun they had this series. From the opening tip to the final shower it was just awesome ... 8) Title: Re: Playoff Round 1 Discussion Post by: NetsGM on October 25, 2006, 05:32:58 PM Quote round 2 tomorrow. Derek....DC due by 12:00 tomorrow OR you will run the sim tomorrow before you go to work? Title: Re: Playoff Round 1 Discussion Post by: KingsGM-old on October 25, 2006, 06:47:29 PM Bah. I was too lazy to make a DC so i went with CPU. I got what i deserved. Nevermind, i wasn't interested in playoffs anyway.
But that Austin guy can really score. Congrats Warriors and good luck rest of the way. Title: Re: Playoff Round 1 Discussion Post by: HeatGM on October 25, 2006, 10:38:30 PM wow...i knew it would be hard to get over the wiz....i matchup badly against them during the season..pretty happy for the round 1 win :)
celtics would be a pretty good matchup for me :) hope things will go my way :D Title: Re: Playoffs Round 2 Up Post by: NetsGM on October 26, 2006, 01:24:32 PM Round 2 up. Discuss.
Title: Re: Playoffs Round 2 Up Post by: KingsGM-old on October 26, 2006, 01:31:36 PM Poor Tom.
This is definitely a Hornets year. Title: Re: Playoffs Round 2 Up Post by: CelticsGM on October 26, 2006, 01:55:04 PM well, congratulations to the Heat for taking the series, especially Shultz who outclassed Dirk in a very bad way (looks like the german one is finally done on an elite level)
 Most of the games were blowouts, but we still came back from 1-3 to force a game 6 at home, and led that by 6 points after three quarters, only to collapse in the final 12 minutes of the season. After winning game 5 in Miami it sure would have been fun to play a game 7 there. So once again, hats off to the Heat and their big three (Shultz, Khoury, Keogan), who looked pretty unstoppable today. Will be interesting to see how the outside shooting (and high scoring) Heat can battle the slow-down inside focussed Hornets. I'm also somewhat proud being the only losing 2nd round team to make it a series at least, the rest (apart from one beautiful game from the Raptors) was downright UGLY to watch ... :bash: Title: Re: Playoffs Round 2 Up Post by: WizardsGM on October 26, 2006, 01:55:47 PM Wow, I dont know if I have ever seen a more unchallenging Round 2 in my FBB history.
Title: Re: Playoffs Round 2 Up Post by: CelticsGM on October 26, 2006, 02:02:45 PM Wow, I dont know if I have ever seen a more unchallenging Round 2 in my FBB history. I told you, if the Mavs don't make it a dynasty it will be somewhat of a choke job (sorry doug, Spurs stand no chance), and the hornets dominance hardly surprised with the decimated Raptors providing little resistance. But 2 great teams will make the finals and while Mavs should win, no team would earn a title more than the Hornets ... if they manage to get by the Heat (not a given by any means) 8) Title: Re: Playoffs Round 2 Up Post by: SpursGM-old on October 26, 2006, 02:29:14 PM WOW. I never expected to sweep the Warriors although I had a good record against them in the regular season.
On to the Mavs...who split the season series with me. However 3 games were back in sim 5 before both teams made roster changes. The last game was in sim 12 and the Spurs pulled out a 3 pt win. Anyway this will be a classic (despite Tom's predictions to the contrary) matching 2 of the better western teams for the past couple seasons. Good luck, Mavs. Title: Re: Playoffs Round 2 Up Post by: MavsGM on October 26, 2006, 02:42:46 PM Suns really missed Kirk Hinrich as we won the series 4-0. Next up Spurs, we really need to stop Eddie Uner. Eddie Uner is the heart of soul of the Spurs. Should be a good match.
Title: Re: Playoffs Round 2 Up Post by: HornetsGM on October 26, 2006, 04:13:26 PM After what happened last season, I am happy to get out of the 2nd round vs. the Raps. A key injury definitely helped that.
The Heat series will be interesting. We split it 2-2 on the season, with the Heat taking the last two. Each team dropped one at home, so home court doesn't appear to be a huge factor. We'll see what happens. Title: Re: Playoffs Round 2 Up Post by: HeatGM on October 26, 2006, 11:53:08 PM thnks tom :)
im loving lamar odom...he is definitely a steal in the Free agency... the guy took a paycut to sign with his old team... :) i think i can make it a series against the hornets...my guys are at it's peak talentwise...and with the addition of lamar odom...we can make this a series.... :bounce: Title: Re: Playoffs: Conference Finals Up Post by: NetsGM on October 27, 2006, 01:15:35 PM Conference Finals sim'd.
Finals should be a battle of the heavyweights. Probably one of the better matchups we've seen in years. Title: Re: Playoffs: Conference Finals Up Post by: CelticsGM on October 27, 2006, 02:33:05 PM I predicted, the Spurs stand little chance, which is very unfortunate after that great season they had. And while they surprised me in games 1 & 2 the rest of the series was exactly what I had thought.
And the Eastern finals were just great. Heat twice took the homecourt advantage from the Hornets, and both times they weren't capeable of holding off the charge from the Hornets, losing by 3 and 6 respectively at home. Close series, but I believe the deeper team prevailed. and interestingly enough, TMac did exactly what I thought Dirk would do: give Shultz big troubles offensively. Both Dirk and TMac don't defend a lot anymore, but Tmac got at least his offense going, especially in game 6 when Yao was held to 11pts in what could have been the series clincher for the Heat ! (i can only wonder if a Dirk/Tmac matchup could have worked in my favor ... :-( ) Finals prediction: Hornets in 6. Barring injuries. Yao and Pavel will take Emeka and Tobey out of their offense (can't see Tobey defend the big one) and Lavar/TMac/Livi defend well enough to do the rest. Remember, the Hornets have no starter smaller than 6'7, that's amazing ! Title: Re: Playoffs: Conference Finals Up Post by: HornetsGM on October 27, 2006, 04:06:59 PM whew, barely got out of that one alive. I changed Yao to PF, which backfired bigtime. I got lucky. Great series Heat.
Title: Re: Playoffs: Conference Finals Up Post by: SpursGM-old on October 27, 2006, 04:19:24 PM Congrats to the Mavs & Hornets. I was really hoping to play the Mavs to a tighter series...guess there is always next year.
Go Mavs...move the Heat (my) pick up to #27. Title: Re: Playoffs: Conference Finals Up Post by: CavsGM on October 27, 2006, 04:57:18 PM Is this the first time the two #1 seeds made it to the championship?
Title: Re: Playoffs: Conference Finals Up Post by: MavsGM on October 27, 2006, 05:14:03 PM Finally made it the the finals.. We held the Spurs under 40% FG the last three games which was the main reason we won. Justin Bass replaced Jeremy Palacio one minute into the game three and did a good job on Mike Mitchell. Full strength against the Hornets and his twin towers Yao and Pavel.
Title: Re: Playoffs: Conference Finals Up Post by: HeatGM on October 27, 2006, 07:37:23 PM wow...i knew this would be a series....but the deeper team prevailed... congratz to the hornets..bring the championship to the east :D
Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Games 1-3 Up Post by: NetsGM on October 28, 2006, 10:08:47 AM Games 1-3 have been sim'd.
no team has lost at home. Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Games 1-3 Up Post by: NetsGM on October 28, 2006, 11:32:22 AM This is looking like an excellent series - wow, real close games, big performances, drama. Excellent stuff, good luck you two.
Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Games 1-3 Up Post by: MavsGM on October 28, 2006, 12:05:26 PM Yao was held in check we need to stop TMac.
Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Games 1-3 Up Post by: NetsGM on October 28, 2006, 01:22:45 PM I'm really looking forward to the last sim of this year.
And not just because my fate is very linked to the results of the lotto..... :D Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Games 1-3 Up Post by: HornetsGM on October 28, 2006, 02:26:13 PM Wow, I'm really surprised Yao is playing so poorly. Evidently Emeka is helping from the off-side. Otherwise, everyone else is playing great. Wolkowyski and Piatowski are containing LeBron, and T-Mac has been putting up decent scoring numbers.
Well, I've been up in the finals 2-1 before, so I don't have any more confidence than when we started the series. If Yao can pick it up then I think I have the series though. Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Games 1-3 Up Post by: HornetsGM on October 28, 2006, 02:30:56 PM what is the estimated time for the next sim?
Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Games 1-3 Up Post by: NetsGM on October 28, 2006, 04:02:45 PM I get home from work in about 5 hours. I'll do it then, since you've both sent in depth charts, unless there are objections.
Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Games 1-3 Up Post by: HornetsGM on October 28, 2006, 04:17:08 PM nope, I was just wondering.
Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Games 1-3 Up Post by: NetsGM on October 28, 2006, 04:17:08 PM Would that mean that lotto results will be posted as well? Retirees? Or are you waiting on that until tomorrow?
Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Games 1-3 Up Post by: NetsGM on October 28, 2006, 04:32:30 PM No. That stuff won't be posted early, since it would be unfair to those who haven't gotten in their FA re-signings.
Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Games 1-3 Up Post by: NetsGM on October 28, 2006, 06:22:56 PM No. That stuff won't be posted early, since it would be unfair to those who haven't gotten in their FA re-signings. K, makes sense. I still imagine that this means tomorrow, so that's good for us who have been on the outside looking in.Still looking forward to the end of the series - two close teams battling hard. Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Down Post by: NetsGM on October 29, 2006, 01:54:04 AM Finals finished.
Congrats Hornets. Glad it went the 7 games it deserved though. Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Down Post by: NetsGM on October 29, 2006, 07:35:19 AM Amazing series, with some incredible individual performances sprinkled in. MVP type players really played like it. Congrats Hornets AND Mavs.
Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Down Post by: MavsGM on October 29, 2006, 10:43:37 AM Up 3-2 but couldn't close it out. Yao came alive the last two games, should of put Okafor on Yao but Tobey did a great job on Yao in the first three games. Congratz on the title Hornets.
Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Down Post by: KingsGM-old on October 29, 2006, 10:55:56 AM Congrats! Finally made it, you really deserved it.
Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Down Post by: SunsGM on October 29, 2006, 11:15:27 AM Congrats Hornets, Its well deserved. Good job to the Mavs also. Outstanding series by 2 teams that really deserved to make the finals and have a chance at a title
Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Down Post by: KingsGM-old on October 29, 2006, 11:17:57 AM Tmac finally gets a ring! Now he can retire as truly one of the all time greats!
Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Down Post by: WizardsGM on October 29, 2006, 02:50:49 PM Great team that deserved it. Yao finally has the real hardware to put on his shelf.
Congrats to the Mavs who were a great team in their own right. Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Down Post by: CelticsGM on October 29, 2006, 03:28:21 PM YES !!!
I'm so happy for the Hornets to finally get their ring. Hardly anyone deserved it like them. :hail:    :hail: And what a great series it was, with Yao and the Hornets defense finally coming alive in game 6 (or should I say chock job from anyone on the Mavs, especially Harris). Enjoy the moment, cause with TMac and Yao getting close to the final curtains the future looks to be all Mavs ... oh, and Ivan, it's nice TMac has a ring, but before you get overly excited about his all-star performance, remember who he played against: JERRY PALACIO ... :lmao: Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Down Post by: CelticsGM on October 29, 2006, 03:30:20 PM Great team that deserved it. Yao finally has the real hardware to put on his shelf. Congrats to the Mavs who were a great team in their own right. Exactly, forgot to mention the big fella. 8 MVP awards and no titles, that's something not even Stock-alone could accomplish. So props to Yao for getting the hardware to let him retire arguabely the alltime great C here in SSBA ... :hail: Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Down Post by: NetsGM on October 29, 2006, 06:39:14 PM A perfect end to the season for the two teams that deserve it the most. Everything else has been said.
Now, on to the lotto   Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Down Post by: HornetsGM on October 30, 2006, 11:07:31 AM Thanks for the congrats everyone, I appreciate it!
Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Down Post by: MavsGM on October 30, 2006, 11:34:45 AM oh, and Ivan, it's nice TMac has a ring, but before you get overly excited about his all-star performance, remember who he played against: JERRY PALACIO ... Nice cheap shot at my player. :bash: :moon::lmao: Title: Re: Playoffs: Finals Down Post by: CelticsGM on October 30, 2006, 01:07:09 PM Nice cheap shot at my player. :bash: :moon: hey, it's only Palacio. And don't worry, you will fix that weak part of your starting lineup this offseason and go on to win the next 3 titles. But props to you Mavs for assembling such a great - and young - team, as I said the future isall yours. That would without a doubt get my "GM of the year" vote (if there were one to cast) ... |
