Title: Nets-Spurs-76'ers Three Way Deal
Post by: NetsGM on October 15, 2006, 10:23:40 PM
Nothing too spectacular.

Nets trade:
Chris Kaman
Stephen Sylvester
Heat 1st Rd Pick in 2017

to Spurs for:
Nathaniel Van Exel
Mike Sweetney
Spurs 1st Rd Pick in 2017

Nets then trade:
Mike Sweetney
GSW 1st Rd Pick in 2018

to 76'ers for:
Harold Morey
76'ers 1st Rd Pick in 2017
$100

No TR's in play. Salaries match.

Nets agree.

LOL, I'm glad its done too. Now I can comment on this part at least.
That pick is a bird in the hand and gets me, being in the top 13, a very good player the way I'm seeing the draft. And I can move along with my rebuild with a good pick while I have cap space. I don't see GSW in the lotto next year, so the pick is an upgrade, and Morey is a useful guy at the 2-3 signed to a long but reasonable deal that I probably wouldn't beat in free agency.

About the Spurs part....I planned on resigning maybe one of Kaman/Sylvester, and now will consider Van Exel in that spot instead - so I start with one potential resign and replace it with another...while moving up 10 or so draft slots - which means a significantly better player who I am much more confident will be worth the money.
