Title: Nets - Warriors Trade Post by: NetsGM on October 05, 2006, 07:48:48 PM Nets trade:
SG O'Neil That Elmer Ewers guy I just signed (after dropping Warren Murphy-see cuts-signings) to the Warriors for: Ron Brewer Daniel Holt Warriors 2018 1st round draft pick. Nets accept. Nets accept. Warriors agree... I get a 23 year old starting SG, who I think is going to be much better then Ron Brewer. Also, I do not think that pick will be a lottery pick... I know have my future starting Sg in O'Neil, and my future starting PF in Uncle Cliffy... 3 more positions to go :) Title: Re: Nets - Warriors Trade Post by: NetsGM on October 05, 2006, 10:20:18 PM Nets do it, having tried to place O'Neil in many different positions to succeed, and yielding very little positive result. Brewer is in about the same class anyway, and is at this point a fair bit more productive. Holt might be a guy that can give some valuable minutes if given the opportunity, and the pick (plus additional cap space) will be helpful as well.
At the very least, I hope to not get roasted as bad for this one  Title: Re: Nets - Warriors Trade Post by: CelticsGM on October 06, 2006, 03:32:56 AM let's say it this way: O'Neil is a little bit of a bust. You'd expect more than 7ppg from a #3 pick, but i would be very surprised if you see him average 15ppg EVER.
He has his value, no doubt, since he's a pretty good defender, especially against smaller SGs, with nice steals numbers as well, but the other end of the floor he's at best mediocre (not a big surprise, just check his FBCB ratings on offense: C B C B. Yup, a SG shooting FTs at a "C" clip) Brewer is one net rating away from O'Neil (but still a much worse defender) but the chances are there he'll surpass MO with a few more TCs. Add the pick (who might not be lotto but doesn't look like he'll drop past #20 as well) and Holt (now tell me you can't find minutes for a guy who shoots 83% from the field and is perfect from the 3pt line) and I give the edge to the Nets. Only problem: resigning Brewer ... :-) Title: Re: Nets - Warriors Trade Post by: MagicGM on October 06, 2006, 05:30:13 AM I don't like it for the Warriors. I like Oneil a while back, but he never lived up to the expectation.
Title: Re: Nets - Warriors Trade Post by: WizardsGM on October 06, 2006, 07:48:33 AM I like it for the Nets. O'Neill hasnt proven to be productive at all. Brewer to me appears to have a bit more upside and if he can work on his defence could be better than O'Neill in no time. Holt isnt a slouch either, solid backup. The pick appears to be an added bonus.
As Celtics said, hopefully you dont have to break your bank to resign them. Title: Re: Nets - Warriors Trade Post by: CelticsGM on October 06, 2006, 07:58:15 AM ... As Celtics said, hopefully you dont have to break your bank to resign them. We know exactly how much it costs to resign him: $300 to be exact ... and he has got enough for that. At least I have a batting average now. Title: Re: Nets - Warriors Trade Post by: GoldenStateGM on October 06, 2006, 08:02:32 AM I have not liked Brewers play this year, and already have an undersized shooting guard in Julio Shireman (who I currwently like better then Brewer anyway). O'Neal might also play some Sf for the Warriors.
I think O'Neal might be the kind of player that just needs the right settings, or maybe the right players around him. He did shoot decent percentages last year, in back-up minutes... I shall find out :) Title: Re: Nets - Warriors Trade Post by: CelticsGM on October 06, 2006, 08:39:41 AM the problem with O'neil is, he behaves exactly like his college ratings did suggest. right to the fact he might be close to his peak now.
Sure he did score 18ppg in college but please check who he played against in 2013 and 2014. These were the ugly years in FBCB in there wasn't really any competition (apart from Fresno playing hardly any major program). And SF wasn't a revelation either with 14ppg on 41% in college ... :?
