this is one of dabods propagandas to fool us :( haha Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: BlazersGM on August 18, 2006, 09:05:21 PM definitely, and its not even April the 1st
Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: NetsGM on August 18, 2006, 10:30:35 PM Um...this isn't a joke. This is HornetsGM from RBSL. I have no affiliation with the Nets anymore.
Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: CavsGM on August 18, 2006, 10:38:07 PM :?:
:screwy: Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: MagicGM on August 18, 2006, 11:32:40 PM what is RBSL anyway? :)
Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: NetsGM on August 18, 2006, 11:32:50 PM I have decided to step down as GM of the Nets. My goal is not to win. In fact, I don't want to win. My 'goals' in coming years would be to get really, really bad, then try to work my way into the playoffs. I had absolutely no interest in serious contention because I'm commish of the league. And it's not right to have a GM who's goal isn't to win.
So I'm stepping down as GM, this is my replacement. I will continue to be commish of this league. Now we don't have to worry about me hand-making drafts and knowing potentials. Don't have to worry about me knowing the potential when someone else buys it. There's no questions of legitimacy and unfair advantage. Everyone's on a level playing field. It just means I'm going to have to try extra hard in DJSL. Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: NetsGM on August 18, 2006, 11:33:18 PM rbsl = http://rbsl.phillyarena.net/rbsl/html/
Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: HeatGM on August 19, 2006, 12:06:05 AM would ssba die out? im just worried...
Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: NetsGM on August 19, 2006, 12:22:13 AM Hey guys, and thanks for the welcome Derek.
I know that I'll have a hard time following up on the Nets success here, but I will do what I can to make them the best team I can. As mentionned, The RSBL has been running for three seasons, and I've had mixed success taking over a bad team. I had a predictably bad team the first year, an injury plagued but playoff year and a solid record this past season in a strong division as we enter into our playoffs. I am generally known there as an active guy, frequent trader and pretty much a draft junkie. Having lurked this league for the past handful of days, I can see that this is a knowledgeable, active and competitive group. I'm looking forward to being part of things. Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: SixersGM on August 19, 2006, 12:35:25 AM would ssba die out? im just worried... Ditto.. Bods, are you sure of your decision? We have the best sim league right here. If you're going to join a sim league, you better join this one. Thats why this is the only league I joined. Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: KingsGM-old on August 19, 2006, 07:54:10 AM Hm...traded all of his best players and then quited on his team. Why wasn't i allowed to do the same thing? 8)
Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: RaptorsGM on August 19, 2006, 08:21:39 AM Wow. So Bods, you are going to just continue on as the commish? That's never gonna work...how can you possibly remain interested enough in the league to do all that work and not reap any benefits?
I think more than anything we may need to start over...I love that you're willing to tackle such a feat, but I just can't see it working out. Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: JazzGM-old on August 19, 2006, 11:13:35 AM well i don't think it calls for a starting over, that's unfair considering teams are all at different stages of development and a lot of work has gone to get each team to its current standing, for instance we're finally seeing the hawks perk up a little (at least on paper) and after another lottery pick and a year of development for larry bird, the knicks could start competing as well.
Also a lot of old successful teams and their stars are getting older and so we're at an interesting crossroads as the retro drafts continue to filter into this league, a lot of interesting things could happen in this leagues next 5 years as well as the excitement of teams getting to develop the greats that were played out before our time. I trust Bods will take care of the league, and if not there's someone in this league with the know-how to carry this league on Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: NetsGM on August 19, 2006, 03:08:24 PM Thanks for the vote of confidence.....
When i started this league, I ran one league (SSBA) and played in one league (SSBA). Now I run one league (SSBA) and play in one league (DJSL). It's not much difference. If I stop doing SSBA, Celtics will kick me out of DJSL. That's a pre-arrainged agreement we have. And yes, I've thought this through. This was something I was considering doing after winning my 2nd championship. I've been thinking about it for quite some time. I wholeheartedly believe that having a commish who's not a member of the league is best for the league. Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: BlazersGM on August 19, 2006, 04:57:29 PM i just hope you wont act as a player agent also in FA like it happened in other leagues where commish is only running the league but not participating
Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: NetsGM on August 19, 2006, 05:05:41 PM player agent?
Like deciding where players go? um....no. The only thing I'll be doing is when we have teams that don't have gm's, rather than being cpu recommended they'll be bods recommended. Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: BlazersGM on August 19, 2006, 05:09:38 PM yeah, in those leagues we needed to give a good reason why a player should choose our team and then commish was deciding if it's a right choice for the player or not, also with contracts. But good to know we wont have that :)

Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: MavsGM on August 19, 2006, 06:21:07 PM Yea, Hoffa had a F Pot and his ratings was something like B+ ? ? B+ B F.
Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: BlazersGM on August 19, 2006, 06:30:44 PM uhm, thats not so bad then, close ratings to present day, i tought he was some C+ guy with F pot and then exploded in TC or something.
Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: NetsGM on August 19, 2006, 06:46:59 PM Yeah, Hoffa had ratings in the B's with F (scouted) pot.
Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: MagicGM on August 19, 2006, 08:33:05 PM and 96 inside rating I believe.
Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: BlazersGM on August 19, 2006, 08:36:18 PM i see, too bad that inside went and stayed B+ after i got him, he was always A- insidie since ive joined this league

I wholeheartedly believe that having a commish who's not a member of the league is best for the league. i think what is best for the league in my opinion is to keep the gm core intact after the last ssba ... we have come a long way... and everybody is having fun.... although having a commish whos not a member of the league could be beneficial... it would also lessen the fun...i rather talk to a human commish than a commish thats like a computer...so if you stay bods...then it would be cool Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: WizardsGM on August 19, 2006, 10:46:36 PM Bods is human....how is that talking to a computer commish and not a human?
Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: HeatGM on August 20, 2006, 12:22:35 AM i KNOW he is human....but it would be like a computer running the league because the commish isnt participating in the league discussions anymore...anyway...i hope bods decides to stay....
Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: WizardsGM on August 20, 2006, 12:25:14 AM He will still be chatting and posting a lot, just not running a team. I dont see how that is different from a commish standpoint.
Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: KnicksGM-old2 on August 20, 2006, 10:54:28 AM Not starting out great.... Sim 9 is two days late.
Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: NetsGM on August 20, 2006, 10:56:06 AM It's one day late. It was announced at the beginning of the week that all sims this week were pushed back a day.
I've worked about 50 hours since Wednesday afternoon. http://www.hostmysite.com/emergency/ I'm doing it now. Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: NetsGM on August 20, 2006, 11:01:46 AM I also didn't want to run it at its scheduled time (yesterday morning) to give NetsGM time to post his depth chart.
Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: NetsGM on August 21, 2006, 10:19:33 AM I also didn't want to run it at its scheduled time (yesterday morning) to give NetsGM time to post his depth chart. Thanks. Just to clarify, they're due what, by midnight or so of the day the sim is scheduled and you generally run it the next day? Title: Re: Welcome NetsGM Post by: NetsGM on August 21, 2006, 11:08:28 AM They're due by midnight of the day listed on the calendar. Sim's won't be run (typically) until the following morning, but have them in by midnight of the day listed to be safe.
