1) Make sure the pictures are high resolution - this is key. Also exeriment with the brightness/contrast 2) Take time cropping images - zoom in 3-400% and use a emall eraser (2-7 pixels) to crop out the player 3) Play around with filters - 99% of backgrounds involve filters, get to know them. There are good tutorial sites to learn how to make backgrounds, search photoshop tutorials in google.
