Title: New Feature - View Unread PM's
Post by: NetsGM on August 07, 2006, 01:23:29 PM
SMF didn't come with any way of knowing whether or not the person you sent a PM to has read the PM.  So....I coded it myself.

It's ugly.  It's not perfect.  But it works (I think).  When you go to the forum index, there's a link next to 'Rosters - Unread Posts - Unread Replies' called 'Unread PM's'.  Click on this link and it should show you the PM's you've sent that the recipient hasn't read.  Click on the + next to the recipients name and it will show the body of the message you sent.  It's sorted so that the last sent message is on top.

As always, let me know of any bugs.

Like the new feature....have really missed the ability to know whether a PM was read or not.  Thanks.

Is there any way to delete the messages from the list?  All of the ones on my list are from the old NuggetsGM or old BullsGM.  And I doubt that they will be read any time soon.

I'll probably add something that will allow you to ignore certain messages.  Not now there's not a way, but there will be.

alright, there.

I added that on my lunch break.  Now there is an 'ignore' link next to each unread message.  If you wish, you can click to ignore the status on that PM (meaning it won't show up on your unread PM's page).

I recently sent a pm, but it doesn't show on the unread PM's.

VERY nice feature, bods.

I still long for the days where you could delete unread PMs but this definitely beats the uncertainity !
Thanx !!!

Um...you can delete unread PM's.  If you go to Outbox, then select the checkbox next to the PM, then delete, if the guy hasn't read it yet, then he never gets it.

you can delete and edit unread pm's with the board before.

are you sure? cause when I write a PM i can check "save a COPY in my outbox". deleting copies usually has no effect on the original.

but we can test that. I'll send you a PM now and delete it from my outbox, to see if you still get it.

i deleted my outbox already and after that i had no more unread pms...
so this feature works fine for me.

sent a PM to myself where deleting from the outbox had no effect ... but then again, after sending a PM you are directed to the inbox again, so maybe that counts as reading the PM already
