Sim 10 up.

Biedrins looked impressive such a wonderful tandem with Dwight at the forward position.

Of course the free fall continues without Boykins.

Oh, what could have been.

I'll be very lucky to make the playoffs.

Javier must really hate the Knicks for letting him go.. He dropped 14pts 18rebs and 9blocks against their team. If we play the knicks for 82 games, he might end up being the MVP. hahaha

Sixers still trying to climb a spot or two in the play-offs.

nice 3-0 sim but as always 2 starters are injured... :lol2:
i beat the clips with JO going down but priddy had a nice double double to help me out
after that i beat pistons with tanner following JO to the IL after 11mins..
incredible that i can beat a team like the pistons without playing 2 of my bigs.
thanks to artest and harris i could outscore them.

3-3 mediocre sim playing some tough teams and getting blowed by Nets...worst of all Telfair went down and will be out for
5 more days so its gonna be really tough to keep up pace with Kings and LAC for #1.

@Mavs -5...lost by a big Mavs run in 4th quarter 36-21......Hoffa dropped 38/16, Telf 31/10.

@Kings +10....lost to #1 rivals again by a big run in 4th quarter, Hoffa dropped 27/12 on their old team, Bosh 20/11...
Clement 14/6/6

vs Magic +12...finally a win...Hoffa 30/21. Telf 18/9....good bench.Telfair out :(

@Nets -41....huge blowout, im sure it would not be such a heavy loss with Telf, Bird was ridicolous, 12 TO's !!!! i
remember last time Telf was out he even got once to 20 TO's...im really scared to play without Telf next sim.

vs Suns +7...Hoffa 30/10...Buehler 26/7....Bird was sick 12 rebs and career high 21 assists along with 3stl but 7 TO's !!!!

@Sonics +24....Hoffa 34/12, Clement 20/7/6, Cunningham 19/10, Buehler 17/11 and Bird great again...15/7/15 5stl and 4
TO's......hopefully next sim he'll continue to lower his TO's which started with monstrous 12 vs Nets.

Bird was "great" in 3 games replacing Telf 12ppg 9ppg 13.4apg but monstrous 7.6 TO's.

Clipps had obviously not a great sim....now falling behind 2.5 and 1.5 to Kings....its gonna be hard however without Telf
next games vs Cavs, @Wolves AND 2 MOST IMPORTANT ONES...2 times at home vs Clippers....Mark Bird...you better play good
those games, it will all be decided this sim, hopefully we can win 2 at home with Bird....then with Telf win away in L.A.

Decisive sim definitely.

Very solid performances seen for the reformed Jazz giving me some strong hope for seasons to come despite going 3-3 this sim. I keep adding players with B potential and should add 3 more with the upcoming draft...this means I'll have at least 8 players with B or better potential and I'm still 1 game out of playoffs as it stands right now. I'm solid for a few years with Rivera at PF, pretty much the only weak position of this draft.

Gresham made me very happy and we might see him being rookie of the month before this season is over now that he's starting and getting some minutes. In his first 6 games as starter he averaged: 15.2 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 6.2 apg, 1.7 spg, 0.2 bpg, 2.5 TOpg in 31.8mpg and he is shooting 46% from the field and a league leading (if he avg'd enough shots) 52% from three. A 7th pick overall, the Nelson trade is really looking up for me, especially when you look at Drew.

Drew is playing very well now that he's getting fulltime minutes. In the last 6 games he averaged: 18.2ppg, 4.5rpg, 4.5apg, 0.8spg, 1.2bpg, 1.2TOpg in 32.0 mpg outpacing Meyers' numbers. He also had a 29 point game in my 135-69 bashing of the Lakers where I shot 62% from three as a team.

Now I boast easily the best shooting backcourt in the league, even though I still am currently sitting 3rd in team 3pt%

By starting Beardslee at PF, I'll have B+, A, A, B+ outside shooters, including the 2 best in the league, not to mention Gresham's 52% which we'll see where it evens in the last few sims.

Good, 6-2 sim with 1pt loss against the Hawks ( :?). Could have been 7-1 but oh well.

+10 aganist the Blazers.
Tracy did his thing with 41pts and 7rebs, Dirk flitred with triple double, 24pts, 9as, 10rebs, Nick Collison and Gasol combined for 25pts and 20rebs and Bibby dished out 14asists.

+13 vs the Magic and yet another proof what happens when you talk to much (Magic learned nothing from the Celtics). Magic did just that and the final outcome was very predictable. Game was over after 2 and half quarters.

+4vs the Spurs. Close game, but Dirk with 34pts, 5st and 7rebs and Collison with a game of the year, 24pts and 15rebs prevailed.

+25 vs the Jazz. 3 players with 20+ pts.

+19 vs the Nuggets. Dirk blasted them with 41pts and Gasol followed nicely with 16pts and 13rebs.

+4 vs the Clips. Finally beat them, close game still but i'll take it. Collison with another 25pts performace, Tracy with nice 26, 6 and 6.

Still with a shot at the first seed in the West.

Let's just leave the Kings in their love for sweeps and move on to the good/bad/ugly stuff.

Good:
Finally a better record than anyone in the West. It was about time. And I share this amusing record with 3 the other 3 top seeds in the East. Is that funny or depressing (when you realize you could win 72 games when playing in the west) ?

Bad:
The Hornets have my number this year, so I HAVE to get out of that #4 spot. Probably dropping to #6 would be easier to do than moving up. (at least I did beat Keogan for the first time since the 2006 season - or so it seems)

The ugly:
Boozers "defense" against Yao. Hey man, if you don't even try stay home next time ...

What's perplexing is that I start having a better team here than in DJSL. Nice, but i won't win a title here and I'd like to win one over there.

anyway, now C'mon, let the playoff talk begin ...

lol.

Had a massacre against Philly. Brice and Howard were the men. Dwight is the men of this sim

5-3 after some tactical switches, we were 5-1 oing into the last 2 days of the sim so a lil dissapointing.

O'Connell played some great basketball and recently earned back to back player of the week awards....

... we're not done yet!

Man, time again to point out how FBB stinks in its award selection.

Apart from the Player of the Game going to the losing team in about a third of the games, the player of the week award is even worse: From the top 4 teams of the Western Conference (Clippers, Mavs, Kings, Blazers) and the TOP 7 in the Eastern Conference (Hornets, Nets, Heat, Celtics, Magic, Sixers, Raptors) only TWO teams fielded a POTW this season. That's 10 of 19 weekly honors going to teams not among the top 10 in the league, 3 of those even to non-playoff teams.

I mean are you kidding me? Is it more valueable being a star on a mediocre team than a star on a top team?
I understand the selection of the rookies, it's the same in the NBA (when was the last time a ROY led his club to the playoffs) but for every other award WINNING is the most important thing (and i couldn't agree more).

If you're talking about Barton O'Connell, I see your point.. But O'Connell would be a star on just about any team... surely he deserves the awards...

Barton O'Connell:

 - 2nd in the L for assists per
 - 6th in the L for FG%
 - 8th FT%
 - 5th in 3pt%

If he was jacking up 30 shots a game and hitting 30% that would be one thing, but he's not. He's taking smart shots and still distributing the ball.

Barton O'Connell = God...

Title: Re: Sim 10
Post by: CelticsGM on June 28, 2006, 07:16:23 AM
don't get me wrong, everyone would love O'Connell, including myself, and in a wide-open West he could lead the Rockets anywhere this season (otherwise he's only a few better teammates away from being the best PG in the league). he may score less but his % went up and his assists went up. plus the team already reached last seasons win total and has a playoff berth all but secured.

So he's an MVP candidate for me. But no POTW.

When a team goes 5-3 you shouldn't win that, especially when another team goes 7-0 (by +25ppg on average !!!) and their star averages 38ppg during this streak. Yup, this is the third leading scorer in the league on the 2nd best team and he has ZERO awards this season. Puzzeling ...

i think it was amare and paul was pretty close this year.
Not to forget ben did it and went second in the poll.

Exactly. In the last 10 years only Amare (Suns were 8th seed, barely made it over Rockets) and TD (in style) made it. Iverson failed, VC too, LeBron of course and Emeka.

Paul missed it by 6 games and 2 spots in the end (although Hornets looked like a lock most of the year) ...

Next question:
I think all that draft talk like "this guy can defend the top opponents", "big defensive SG to take pressure off Kirk (on of the better defenders himself)" is quite amusing. Who were the last rookies you'd TRUST to defend a GOOD opponent (let's not even talk about the Wades and LeBrons and TMacs) in crunchtime.

Nothing against guys like Brandon Roy, and - like every other rook - i've never seen him play apart from a few internet clips, but anyone expecting a rookie to be a defensive stopper in the BIG BOYS LEAGUE hasn't watched basketball lately...

Or am i off target here ?

yes there are guys who can play defense for example paul, deron, or kirk not to forget emeka
in every draft there are 2 or 3 defensiv minded guys who could defend even the nba types okay not LB or Kobe but who can?
roy is possible the closest to a solid defender but carney and TT2 has the ability to be lock down type defenders.
and next year oden and noah are possible in the draft who already have great defense instincts
