now why in the world do i give my star player and a nice young big man project for Marion ?

One word: STAR POWER ! (now since these are 2 words i might give a lengthy explanation as well)

Marion is a star, capeable of taking over games at both ends of the floor. He's 34, I know but he doesn't slow down and I believe he has 2 more fine seasons ahead of him. Plus playing Matrix at SG gives me the opportunity to move Schabinger to SF where I believe he is more effective.

Lenard, hmmm, what should I say. Great shooter and scorer, can hit 30 any day, against any defender and doesn't give it away. But there are often those 13pt games (where he took 10 shots) with 3 rebounds and mediocre defense. Marion doesn't have those games. Plus the 3pt shot is still shaky. I believe he needs to get a LOT better to get near Matrix level and I'm not sure he ever will.

Of course I lose 6 years, but thats a risk I need to take (and would have with Dirk too).

Priddy doesn't hurt nearly as much as I think it would. He's young, he shows a lot of potential, but he's no starter now. I tried it. Great rebounding, and his defense is ok against most guys, but his offense is way behind. I doubt he would have played over Thomas or Boozer.

What's next? Who knows. I gave myself a 2yr window of opportunity to make some noise. Hope for the best ...

Tom, I just wanted to make sure you realized that Marion is 34 years old, but after reading your post, it seems that you have realized that.

Wow. Sorry my friend, but this seems to be a rape by the Pacers.

Well, anyone who believes my team will be worse with Marion replacing Lenard hasn't watched SSBA recently. That's not even close. And since Priddy didn't play for me either (and hardly would ahead of Thoma and Griffin) what exactly makes thi so bad ?

I rather take 2 great years from Marion than 6 good years from Lenard.

true, but you've got to consider the age factor. And you could get a nice price for Priddy alone.
this is more of an enjoy now, pay later type of deal.

Hmmm...  I think I like this trade for both squads...  with a slight edge to the Celtics.

Lenard is a good player, but Marion is one of 5 dominate players in this league.
With Thomas, Boozer, Marion, Schabinger, and Trump, the celtics are looking mighty good (exceept for the Trump part)  That tsquad can defintely compete for the title in the East.

The Pacers get a little younger, and have an excellent starting five...  With Marion, though, I thought they could have been Finals bound.  Without him, they will not make it that far.

i guess tom is trying to get past the first round of the playoffs... :D but i think the celtic's roster is good enough for the conference finals...but nothing more than that...unless he can make some good trades....and he's done pretty well in the trade department...this one is the first questionable trade iv seen from him.. but i dont consider it a rape...since it does makes him better...  :D
