Ahh gimmie a break. All my guys go for the MLE, but none to me.

damn now that is the 4th guy going to another team for the MLE...
maybe regular season record still counts for anything :bash:

Yeah baby!!!!!!! Can't belive i land Collison for MLE! :D

damnit, I offered Kunlda a much better contract and he goes to the Nets and I lose out on a S&T with Collison.  But I got Diop who could be a good force for me in the middle.

Post by: KingsGM-old on May 26, 2006, 06:29:12 AM
That's horrible deal for Diop if you ask me.

Title: Re: Day 4 FA Results
Post by: HawksGM on May 26, 2006, 06:33:47 AM
Hes a big man who can defend and rebound, which is all i want him to do, and I have to overpay to get good FA's, shown by Kundla who had almost the identical offer that Diop had and he spurned me to go sit behind Petit.  Diop will get me at least 10/10/2, and he's been on a successful team in the Wizards for the last couple of seasons.

Title: Re: Day 4 FA Results
Post by: PacersGM on May 26, 2006, 06:36:11 AM
i guess diop took first the money you offered and after that kundla had no better offer anymore than the nets. And yes you overpaid diop. I am pretty sure no one even offered diop more than the MLE.

Well, yeah he's fine, but 5 years is just too much. And i think there was actually no need for. I don't think anyone offered him (as Pacers said) more then MLE. I think you could have gotten him definitely for the same money but for less years.

btw I could actually contend this year. Backups looks way diferent now. With Pietrus, Collison and Varejao, now i only need a pg sub and i'm set. Off course, that's if TC doesn't screw me.

Post by: CelticsGM on May 26, 2006, 06:48:12 AM
What's wrong with 5.5 mio for Diop. That's just a bit above MLE and for a team with a win rating like the Hawks (and greed by far the lowest rating) I believe contract length was all that they had. Sure, maybe 4 or even 3 years would have been better but it's not a bad contract for one of the better Cs in this league ...

don't worry about a TC that will have next to zero influence on your season, worry about the injury bug hitting you.
we should make a PGM count somewhere here ...

sorry hawks my fault if you offered kundla the same contract like diop i don´t get it why kundla take less money for less PT. This is the most curious signing i saw for a long time. Only reason could be that his play for a winner is also pretty high so maybe the difference in money wasn´t enough.

I'm happy with the arrival of Peters on my team. It makes Josh Howard expandable. And that said, I'll likely look to deal him for a frontcourt help. Thus, giving Darius Agrobast that playing time he deserves for a very long time now.

This is the most curious signing i saw for a long time.

Better take a look at Nick Collison.

Greed: 93 (!!!)
Play for winner: 5 (that's right, FIVE)

..and i got him for MLE.

he was a cancer on most teams anyway but maybe he is better in a backup role.

Very odd.  I just double checked my pre-fa 4 save, and the Hawks Trent Kundla bid is there.  5.5 million starting salary, 4 years.  It was in there.

Guess the only thing I can say is some FA's don't like long-term deals if they think they can get a better deal the next FA.  I.e. being tied into a 5.5 million contract is a detriment if they think they can get 7 million next year, so they'll take the 1 year deal.  Even at worst, I'll probably offer him the 5.4 million starting next year, so accepting yours wasn't going to make him any more money.

But, your offer was definitely there.

bods, is the FA page under GM actions working? can I instead PM my offer to you? It will be just one player anyway. haha.

edit: thanks. its working now.

You know, I understand getting spurned by Kundla for the Nets, Redd for the Clipps, but Collison for the KINGS??

He's gonna pay for that.

And now, look at the lovely crop of FA left to use my MLE on. Why does it always seem that the Raptors never leand anyone wit hte MLE, or in FA in general?

Probably Heavyreign programmed the players to not want to come to Canada just like in the Real NBA. That bastard.

The Kings have one player under 30 on their roster... lol
We may see the worst TC in SSBA history this year ;)

BTW Bods, will TC be simmed tonight as well as day 5 of free agency?

Did the Knicks, Bulls and Nuggets enter any FA bids?

No, no and no.

All 3 are about to be fired.  Sadly.  I saw singh on RealGm about a week ago, and wanted to give him a chance to respond, but he's been gone a long time.`

Really? I've been worried about Singh, few months back he told me he had some personal problems, then haven't seen him since...he kinda bailed on that league him and I co-founded.

1. Who's Singh?
2. Bods, Bulls have very limited internet acces. He just got back from Brazil 3 days ago and he told me he curently doesn't have internet at home.

Erm..
1) Sing is BullsGM
2) BullsGM doesn't live in Brazil.  Are you thinking BlazersGM?

Nuggets, if I remember correctly, is Kiki, the former DJSL commish. Ivan, can you check what's with him?

Yeah. Haven't talked to him for couple of weeks. But since he's very extreme person, knowing him, i guess it's just another anti-technology period. He's either 24h online, games, sim etc or he's not turning his pc for days. But i've seen his post in DJSL, so i'm not sure. I'll call him tommorow.

Dare I say a 1st ever playoff visit? Maybe in a couple of seasons... :)

i was hoping to sign holton for the MLE...but hawks took him away from me...grrr... :x
i will have to settle fro andersen...hope TC wont mess up his ratings...

but i agree hawks did some good signings with 5 mil left to spend... he's going through a defensive look... but i think that wont be good enough for the playoffs...not enough scorer... i also dont like the sigining of diop...right amount but too long of a contract....his 30...and at 35 he wont retire and would be declining... but a good FA and a busy one for the hawks

thank you for the compliments gentlemen, It has been a fairly successful offseason, now all we need is a re-alignment so I can go out west and have a better shot at making the playoffs.

Everytime someone says that, the West wins the Finals...
In fact, of the 9 finals, only 3 have been won by the East...
Keep trying, ya Yankees!!!

it's about time the East stops destructing itself in the playoffs.

Every team coming out here is completely beaten up and exhausted from practically having to play one finals series after another from round 1. You have to be on top of your game for everyone to succeed. One injury and you're out. Sometimes I wonder how this slaughterfest looks from the outside for you western teams.

I wish we could have such a relaxed postseason, where you play just hard enough to get to the conf finals, where Ivan awaits (which means you could as well rest your starters) ... and then you just stay relaxed, just a little bit shooting and not getting too rusty as you prepare for a tired opponent in the finals.

Title: Re: Day 4 FA Results
Post by: CelticsGM on May 29, 2006, 03:41:35 PM
btw, like in the real NBA there HAS to be a team from the west in the finals each season. We can't just go by best records or take the 4 most dominant (eastern) teams for a final four tournament.

But I think that's ok somewhat. Makes it more interesting for the whole league, since practically everyone from the West can be the representative this year ...

That Hawks team wont even win one game in a Western Conference playoffs, let alone make it to the playoffs in the West.
To be honest Tom... your Celtics wont make the Conference Finals in the West either.

Lol...  My squad played the max number of games on the way to the title, and survived an injury to the best scorer in the playoffs to take the series.  Probably the first time it ever happened...  but it was a ratings dream for the networks...
