Title: Hawks-Pistons Trade Post by: HawksGM on April 04, 2006, 02:20:05 PM I cleared cap and got a future pick...I know I probably could have gotten more but with the new FA rules coming up, I think that I can be in a better position to be succesful in FA, instead of trying to re-build through the draft which has obviously not worked for me. That being said I have a theory that with a PG below 6' you can't win. Hav and Mercer have never been on a succesful team and if you look at the top teams their PG's are 6' or taller. It might just be my opinion but I'm done with the short PG's.

Just an FYI, I won a championship with Earl the Squirrel :) Title: Hawks-Pistons Trade Post by: HawksGM on April 04, 2006, 02:27:30 PM Quote from: NetsGM Just an FYI, I won a championship with Earl the Squirrel :) lol, I knew there had to be one that I couldn't remember...oh well, Petit, Okafor and Dalmbert made his job a little easier....but if some of these FAs in this class hit the market I might be able to get a few really good pieces. Title: Hawks-Pistons Trade Post by: CelticsGM on April 05, 2006, 05:43:14 AM That hurts, that truly hurts.
An allstar PG going for a 34yr old washed-up veteran and a low future draft pick (how low? The average age of the Pistons starters is 25.5 and they were playoff-bound WITHOUT Hav) Title: Hawks-Pistons Trade Post by: HawksGM on April 05, 2006, 10:53:40 AM all-star doesn't mean anything if you can't win a game and Hav has never won, not saying he's the biggest problem I had but I needed a change and I'm hoping he was the one who needed to go.

I know that you needed change and I'm also well aware you even offered him briefly in the forum before the draft, but I didn't believe I really had enough to offer for him Just now seeing him walk for literally nothing (Starbury retired more than 3 seasons ago, the pick will be around #15-20) is the cause of my pain ... Only a few teams really need a PG and me getting FA room is good IMO with the upcoming rules set to take place Title: Hawks-Pistons Trade Post by: CelticsGM on April 05, 2006, 11:07:44 AM Quote from: HawksGM ... but the wealth of PG's really lowers what I could get for him.
