Title: Sim 4 discussion
Post by: RaptorsGM on February 15, 2005, 07:35:17 PM
Raptors went 1-5.

Tried to get Bosh and Pavel more involved, but that didn't really work.

I'm going to try something new again next sim.

I know am tied for the 5th overall pick.

And the 14th overall with the Kings.

Hoffa's stats went back up again.

Hornets went 7-3 that sim. We are in the middle of 20 games in a row. It's crazy. Lucky, most of them are at home...

Bosh had a pretty good sim:

23/7/1 vs. Sixers (Loss)
13/8/2/2 vs. Cavs (Loss)
9/9/3/2 vs. Bulls (Win)
2/3/1 vs. Lakers (Loss)
14/6 vs. Lakers (Loss)
11/11/1 vs. Celtics (Loss)

12ppg, 7.3rpg

Not bad at all for a guy with A Potential.

Good To say Rafer triple-doulbe agaisnt the Sixers.

The Bucks went 6-1 that sim, 3-1 against the Shaqless Heat and Pistons.  And I only had one player of the game (Iguodala) despite that record.

20-12.  Not bad.

You played the Heat 4 times in one sim??

Sonics went 6-1 on this sim, and are atop the Pacific division.

I have played ten fewer games than the current Western Division leading Timberwolves...an odd stat so far.

Big Z and Big Ben anchor a tough defensive squad that now has an outside force in Brent Barry to open the offense a bit.

Look for this team to go very deep into the playoffs...and win.

Not looking good at all. Big moves may need to be in store, but that would only be much later, during the off-season maybe. This is starting to seem like a hopeless season. At least I have a high draft pick(if the poor play continues) and free agency to help this team out.

Went 4-5.

Boozer's a beast (21.8/9.9/4 apg).  Okafor's a beast (21.6/10.9/2.8apg/2.2 bpg).  Humphries was a beast of an 18 year old until he got hurt.  my guards and bench suck.

It's still amazing that those 2 are keeping me that competitive.

Went 6-3 in this sim(20-12 on the season)... could have been a lot better...  Split with the Bucks and Knicks, also lost to the pacers...  Beat the Nets by 38!  Also beat the Jazz, Blazers, and Hawks...  Made a couple changes on the chart, so hopefully i'll do better this next sim...

My team went 4-2.

I just hope that this would be the last sim that my team would play without Tim Duncan.

Watchout for the sixers next sim.. :D

A 1-6 sim, I guess I was right when I thought I was crazy for thinking Allan Houston of all people would help me win some games.....well he's benched again and they young guys are back in, top pick???, I know who I'd take if I get it

Had a pretty good sim, Terry had a triple double. :D

Jazz are now:

5th in PPG
5th in RPG
1st in SPG (and I Just acquired Hughes - 1.8 spg)
3rd in BPG
8th in FT%
1st in oTPG

With the acquisition of hughes I statistically get roughly 15 more ppg and more steals, and shoots better from all areas on the floor, so I improved both offensively and defensively. Also, the acquisitions of Mike Miller and Jacque Vaughn improve my already strong depth, despite the loss of arroyo.

You're team is strong, but in a very strong West, to be 14-14 is probably pretty good. Chris Webber's ratings might be a little lwoer than in real life and you don't have much depth especially inside. You are only one spot out of playoffs though.

you have no depth on your team. And you don't play defense.

Obviously what you need to do is edit your settings.

Yeah, I would recommend slowing down your pace.
You need to try to experiment with your settings before you complain about how bad the game is

To be honest, with the West being so competitive, somebody's talent has got to give and it happened to be the Kings, but with the competitiveness, an 8th seed is probably just as good as a 5th or 6th

with bibby and t-mac you want me to slow down the pace??

and second of all, i can complain cause i've asked for my depth chart to be recommended! i admit i'm new to this so i didn't want to mess something myself. anyway, great recomendation, 14/14!?

When you say you want your strategy recommended the computer does it, not a human. The computer is not always best at doing strategy.

I say you should slow down because it will keep your starters in the game for a longer period of time.

there is absolutely no way this team is 8th seed, even if they play drunk (as i'm right now)

14-14 for a team with no depth, and a 5 and 5 guy starting at SF?

That ain't bad.

Take it as it comes. It's early. Worry about making the playoffs, then worry about winning.

Well, you have to realize that this HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH REAL LIFE.

Marshall isnt near the player here that he is for the NBA Raptors.

SSBA has nothing do it with NBA. All it has the same are that the teams and players have the same name.

Really, I raped you good on that deal. I didn't think Marshall was quite that bad. :)

Ostertag is 8th in blocks, and I have 2 of your picks.

Don't worry, what goes around comes around. I got raped in my other deal.

you deserved it! haha...on a serious side, if "SSBA has nothing do it with NBA. All it has the same are that the teams and players have the same name" then how i'm supposed to play? then our knowledge about the game doesn't mean shit, right?

Have you ever been here?

http://ssba.phillyarena.net/

I'm nt trying to belittle you.

But you have to look at a player's ratings.

For example, Marshall

C+ C+ D+ A- C C

That means he's a C+ for inside scoring(around the basket)

a C+ for outside scoring (Like deep 2's and 3's)

a D+ for handles (dribbling, doesn't matter all that much for big men. Plus, he's averaging less than a turnover per game)

a A- for Defense (1.2 steals per gaem, 0.9 blocks per game aint bad)

a C for rebounding

and a C for potential (which, if you want to win now, you don't need to worry about)

Title: Sim 4 discussion
Post by: KingsGM-old on February 17, 2005, 08:20:38 PM
know what you mean, but i'm having trouble with those ratings. it's not like that in my country, it's numbers instead of letters, for example: A is 5, B is 4 etc...so i'm pretty confused... :?

Title: Sim 4 discussion
Post by: JazzGM-old on February 17, 2005, 08:31:05 PM
you can't think of it in terms of how good the players are in real life, it's a sim, it goes by ratings and how those ratings mesh with each other

great!

any advice?

Title: Sim 4 discussion
Post by: NetsGM on February 17, 2005, 10:08:40 PM
Here's the scale of ratings.
(A+ the best, F the worst)
A+
A
A-
B+
B
B-
C+
C
C-
D+
D
D-
F

So....an B+ is better than a B.  a B- is better than a C.  And so forth.

Take a look at other players ratings.  Compare them with the stats they're putting up.

For big men, an A- or better inside scoring should give you 20 ppg.  The B range should give you 15-18 ppg.  Anything higher than a C outside will help the ppg a little.

For big men rebounding, a C should get you around 8.  A B in the 10-11 range, an A in the 12-14 range.

It's just something you have to deal with.  Forget the NBA.  This isn't a test on your knowledge of the NBA.  It's a test to build a team with matching skillsets.  The ratings are the basis of the simulation, not anything that happens with the NBA.

That's why any and all upcoming drafts will be done with fictional players.  This will force people to draft based on ratings rather than names.
