Title: Best Offseason Post by: NetsGM on December 12, 2005, 12:20:14 PM Since, IMO, it's really hard to pick a "gm of the year", since rarely do you feel the full effects of a move within a year. So I'm just asking, what team improved the most from the finals last year to opening day this year.
Title: Best Offseason Post by: RaptorsGM on December 12, 2005, 12:23:20 PM The Raptors have to be a candidate with the additions of Holman (11 and 11), Dickau (11 4 and 4), Garcia, Arbogast.
And with the TC's of Perry and Max... Title: Best Offseason Post by: NetsGM on December 12, 2005, 12:23:43 PM Forgot to say, you can't nominate yourself.

Bah. :P Title: Best Offseason Post by: NetsGM on December 12, 2005, 12:26:39 PM I think the Knicks have to be a candidate. Stocker and Sura are just what they needed (although they certaily don't need 4.2 turnovers/game, but 15.4 pts, 4.3 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.7 steals with A- defense is a huge improvement over what they had).
Title: Best Offseason Post by: NetsGM on December 12, 2005, 12:29:13 PM Other candidates:
Bulls - growth of Fabrizio, addition of Amare. Pacers - Marion makes that team  Nuggets - Berkowitz and Butler's development, nice addition of Odom. Title: Best Offseason Post by: HornetsGM on December 12, 2005, 12:45:32 PM oof, two of my moves made people candidates for this thing
Title: Best Offseason Post by: NetsGM on December 12, 2005, 12:57:29 PM Haha.
Well, Sura was a no brainer. he had to go. You just didn't have a need for him. Title: Best Offseason Post by: HawksGM on December 12, 2005, 01:00:49 PM i think the Knicks had a great off season, Stocker and Sura are both great additions
Title: Best Offseason Post by: HornetsGM on December 12, 2005, 01:27:51 PM Quote from: HornetsGM oof, two of my moves made people candidates for this thing Make that three of my moves: Knicks, Nuggs, Pacers :( Oh well. At this point the only trade I have some regret making is the Pacers deal. Otherwise, I am very happy with my offseason (Radman putting up 20/7; Gadz 11 rpg, 3 bpg; Melo 29/6). If the Pacers could have gotten a veteran PG in FA or trade I would say the Pacers for sure. Elliot looks like he is going to be good, but not for a few seasons. If they can get a better PG, they will be great. Still, I'll go with the Pacers even without the PG. I knew he is a great scorer but i nver thought he would avg. near 30. I agree on Elliot but for the moment he and fisher are doing a fine job shooting at a high % and not turning the ball over too many times. for the moment i will go with the nuggets. They really surprised me. Title: Best Offseason Post by: MagicGM on December 13, 2005, 04:14:19 AM *ahem*
Title: Best Offseason Post by: NetsGM on December 13, 2005, 06:35:26 AM Besides ignoring the fact that I said you can't nominate yourself, what did you do to improve yourself? The drafting of David Hollister? The huge signing of Brent Mercer?
Title: Best Offseason Post by: MagicGM on December 13, 2005, 06:37:24 AM jeez.. you can't stand sarcasm :D
Title: Best Offseason Post by: CelticsGM on December 13, 2005, 06:43:12 AM Quote from: MagicGM *ahem* i guess you are referring to your nearly league-leading 8-8 record which is a huge surprise considering the team you have. you get my vote ... Title: Best Offseason Post by: CelticsGM on December 13, 2005, 06:57:07 AM and btw, how about the vote for WORST OFFSEASON
I know you can't nominate yourself but i have to be the lead candidate by a mile: Coming off a 52 win season I resigned EVERYBODY, drafted nicely and ... went on to lose 9 of 10 to start the season (to put this into perspective, apart from the Nets and Kings the 7 other losses came to teams who COMBINED for a .426 winning% last year) Not only that, I cut my major new FA signee who immediately went on to become the top improvement in TC. Now beat that ... :( Title: Best Offseason Post by: MagicGM on December 13, 2005, 07:03:37 AM Quote from: CelticsGM and btw, how about the vote for WORST OFFSEASON (http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/3880/foto300ni.jpg)I know you can't nominate yourself but i have to be the lead candidate by a mile: Coming off a 52 win season I resigned EVERYBODY, drafted nicely and ... went on to lose 9 of 10 to start the season (to put this into perspective, apart from the Nets and Kings the 7 other losses came to teams who COMBINED for a .426 winning% last year) Not only that, I cut my major new FA signee who immediately went on to become the top improvement in TC. The turnaround that the team has made is just unbelievable.
Title: Best Offseason Post by: OldNuggetsGM on December 14, 2005, 01:59:43 PM The thing is, my offseason wasn't that eventful. I only made the one deal for Odom. I guess you could also add the Stockton and Pachulia resignings, since they're both now starting, but they were small things. But the Butler deal happened last year, when I was able to acquire him from the Spurs for Eddie Uner. I really liked Butler at the time, so much so that I probably would've taken him over Bertram Schultz in the draft, had I not had the #1 overall pick.
So, two deals have gone well for me: the Odom trade (this year) and the Butler trade (last year). So I guess if I had to vote, I'd vote for the Knickerbockers. Title: Best Offseason Post by: Anonymous on December 14, 2005, 03:01:06 PM Thanks for the mention guys. Stocker and Sura were huge additions (and I think Linton Johnson for the minimum was big too because I have had absolutely no defense at backup SF since, well, ever).
I finally have a good feeling about my team. Hopefully, the pick I dealt for Sura doesn't make me regret it. |
