Title: Sim 1 Discussion
Post by: HornetsGM on December 10, 2005, 08:44:16 PM
Since I'm not going out this weekend, this will be the highlight of my weekend. Sad, I know. What will be sadder is if I have a terrible sim...

Anyway, the schedules aren't up, so there's not much to discuss, but I thought I'd post it anyway.

Dwight had a ridiculous sim. oh well. new lineup.  I need to increase my blocking now that I have 2 good shotblockers.

My rook David Jonas was amazing so far. Reminds me of a younger version of Peja Stojakovic. He's one heck of a shooter 16ppg (one of the leaders in FG% 3ptFG% and FT%) and a pretty good rebounder 8rpg.

Harpring, Curry, and Houbregs are also doing a gread job at blocking shots and rebounding.

My rook so far:
10.0 ppg, 4.7 apg, 1.0 topg, 54.3% shooting, 45.5% 3pt in only 21.5 mpg

My PG's combine for 11.9 assists and 2.0 turnovers.

Someone needs to point Emeka towards the basket.  If it wasn't for FG's (7.5 made per game at a surprising 73.8%) he'd be really struggling offensively right now.

And Sammy, wow.  You're only supposed to keep the ball out of the hoop on the defensive end.  He's shooting 27.7%.

that overrated PG (Livingston) is dishing out 13.8 assists per game.

two rookie bigs (Barner for Wizards at 18.1 ppg, 14.3 rpg, 2.5 bpg and Stocker for the Knicks at 12.8 ppg, 13.5 rpg) are really tearing it up, as is Berkowitz for the Nuggets (22.0 ppg, 13.2 rpg), leading the Nuggets revival.

And Alponse Butler is on the fast pace for the "Vladamir Radmanovich" award.  19.4 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 10.8 apg.  Nuggets have a knack for getting pg's who explode (remember Boykins, Earl a few years ago).

And Yao Ming.  Wow.  It's a shame noone else can win MVP for the next decade.

Kevin Garnett for 6th man of the year.  12.5 ppg and 7.7 rpg in 18 minutes is incredible points per minute.  The guy starting over him (Vice) isn't doing bad either, 14.1 ppg, 7.7 rpg in 29.7 minutes.

And Gatling looks like he's taking a step, although that could also be because a certain mr. garnett was out of the starting lineup.

Spurs have 4 players averaging 16 or more ppg.

Bertram Schultz looks like a bonafide cornerstone.  I must say I wasn't sure at draft time.

And after one of the worst TC's ever....the Sonics are 9-6.  TC's are overrated.

Damn, poor sim, 3-4, shooters never really got it going.

Of course, Yao played amazing, as did Max.

And what can I say about Holman? Kid was an LLE pickup. Amazing.

Gonna need Dickau, Tayshan, Pietrus and Perry to really step it up next sim.

I ain't mad though, I know it's right there.

C's shot 32.4% against dalembert.
SF's 37.5% against Battier
PG's 34.5% against Boykins
PF's 31.9% against Emeka.

Wow.  That's sick.

Won turnovers by 3 per game.  Rebounds by 7.  Had 3 more blocks per game than my opponent, double the three pointers.

Wow, nice sim with great team play (+17 differential) and great individual performances.
I hate to say it, but things can only go down from here. It looks to me like some guys are overachieving; in fact, it looks like all of my players are overachieving...
Still, if the rest of my sims are anything close to this, I will be very happy.

Post by: CelticsGM on December 11, 2005, 08:32:00 AM
quick take:

Celtics started with a 1-3 sim due to horrible shooting (40% and below in the losses) especially from my leading scorer. I lost Gasol to injury for the rest of his Celtics time, so now Strong can show his worth ...

Tough sim ahead with 8 of 9 on the road so it may take some time to get the Celtics back in the winning column ...

Interesting.  3-3 Sim, a bit less then expected.

Shot 45.9% from the field, while only giving up 43.1%.  Rebounding battle about even, winning both the steals and TO battle's...

But racking up fouls like crazy.  Once he team gets the fouls under control, they will play much better.

Don Ruffin was injured in the first game, so that really hurt my bench.  This next sim, with Ruffin healthy, should give me a better indication of the team.  Won all 3 games he played.

Jim Finley looks like a great center next to Dirk.  Hopefully the team will calm down on the fouls.

James Posey is playing brilliantly on offense, scoring just as much as Kobe did, and pulling down even more rebounds.

And Dirk, well, he rocks. Just have to control those fouls.

Dude, check the stats. Shooting 49.3% from the field, averaging 8.3 a/to

Those are amazing. Satisfied? I'm thrilled.

And he still has A potential.

4-6 Sim. When I initially saw it I thought "Same old, same old".

However, taking a closer look, I saw that my young team actually performed half decently. We won all four of our home games (and lost all of our road games as young teams often do) and if you don't count the huge forty point loss to a great Hornets team, we actually were within 2ppg in points differential.

Trevor Wells started off slow and shot poorly, but picked it up as the sim went along. It was nice to see his rebounding and assist numbers up by quite a bit from last year.

Curtis Sura played solid. He had far too many turnovers, but provided solid rebounding and a nice scoring (if not 3-point shooting) touch and played very solid defense.

Andre Stocker was an absolute beast, averaging 12.8ppg, 13.5rpg & 1.4spg on 49.6% from the field. He did shoot terribly from the foul line, however, and got absolutely torched by Amare all three games and by Yao once. Still, his rebounding helped us have a substantial rebounding edge over opponents (after getting killed on the boards last season)

Diddle was solid and Sweetney & Ruiz proved to be a nice tag-team at PF - especially on the boards.

While we are still probably not a playoff team we have certainly improved from last year and have some very nice young pieces.

Ugh, 1-4. But the one win was a 48 point destruction of the Blazers. At least this season I actually have my pick.

Bods... why is Childress marked as PF? I know that Brown was injured and his backups Brand (sf) and Chandler (c) started at other positions. So the computer put Childress at pf right? But also in games where Kwame did start at pf, Childress was still marked as a pf.

Though I must say he is doing a good job there! So maybe I could play him there more often. :)

Yes, this is an interesting decision. Is Vice being showcased? I can't imagine any situation where playing Garnett as a backup could help a team win.

2-2, fine start for me, wish i had won the Suns game tough, Schultz is a monster, he's ready for big things, 25.0ppg,
7.5rpg,2.3spg on 55 FG % and 73 3pt % this first sim, Telf was shooting below avg, but he got 17.3ppg and 10.5apg, and
his TO's seem to be droping from game to game.....Russell is continuing to shoot great as last seasaon, FG 50 %, 45 3pt
and 89 FT, Buehler is proving to be great defender and a very good rebounder, same for Finley.

at Spurs 116-82  Houbregs 28/5/5, Telf 22/16, Schultz 20/14, Buehler doing good defense as usual.

vs Rockets 110-81 Schultz 35/8 , Telf 19/7 7 steals, Haywood with 16 boards, Buehler another game with 9.

vs Suns 97-100 Was a suprising loss, Schultz 21/7 was the only shining star in this loss.

at Cavs 86-134 I believe this is the 2nd biggest loss in Blazers history,  Schultz and Russell were doing great, but
the rest of the team was miserable.

Now im wondering how Buehler and Houbregs will do next sim, as i moved them back to SF positions, they ratings droped
this 1st sim as i was checking if any changes would occur on SG/PF positions.

Two individual records also happened in first 2 games, Schultz career high 35 points and Telf 7 steals.

Yeah, that was my biggest loss i think, somebody crushed me last season with 40+, but its around that, unfortunately for me it was the only signifcant loss, i crushed 2 teams and lost to Suns by 3

Pettit's had major TO problems so far, 3 games already with 7+ turnovers

My PG's, however, have been amazing.  Neither of them have had more than 2 TO's in ANY game.

I felt I had a strong statistical sim, but it's too early to be worried about being last in the division, Kaman exploded scoring, Kirilenko almost had a double double, Shabinger's stats are looking better, and Hughes is shooting 80% from three.

Let's say it again, it's without ANY CONSEQUENCE WHATSOEVER where your players are located on the roster page, this is for informational purposes only. Moving players to a position doesn't influence their performance a bit ...

Somewhat disappointed with the 4-5 start....until I checked the schedule.  After a season opening loss to the Blazers I split with the Sonics, 1-2 with the Warriors, lost to the Clippers, beat the Raptors & Pacers.  With a couple new faces and some experimenting with the settings I wasn't as unhappy as when I first saw the results.

All I need to do is figure out some way to get my young guys who really developed in TC some more floor time.
