Years are irrelevant.

He stops counting against the cap when he retires.

Got Prince and Pietrus signed to big deals, was kinda scared about Pietrus given the fact that the Blazers had cap space, remembering Perry of last year.

Have some bg news to announce too.

This must be the most boring FA period ever.

Exactly ONE team had more than 3mio cap space (technically the Heat had too but we know what that was for ... must be the biggest contract in FBB history !!!) and used that to sign exactly ONE top FA so far. Everyone else basically resigned.

I got all my starters back for reasonable contracts (yeah I overpaid Lenard some but first he's good and second the Blazers money scared me too much to go below max). So just one big signing left.

Only pity is i lost out on resigning Bee because of roster space problems. He didn't do too much for me and is average now but he has some potential.

On a sidenote: oh how bad must the Warriors feel now. They were counting on Finley to become their C next to Dirk and now he's gone. Not that Fin's 'C' inside is a revelation but he got all the tools and potential to be a heck of a player soon.

It's beyond my imagination how he could go to the Blazers for a mere 7mio ???? He's the only, repeat ONLY young big man with huge potential ("A" after 4 years in the league? This is REAL pot now) in this draft. No way such a guy could slip out of their hold.

So i guess the Warriors were going the cap space route and only offering a 3-4yr deal. Why Fin took the crappy Blazers (win: 30) with 78 play4winner and only 25 greed is a mystery. But apparently he didn't consider the Warriors (win:45) winners either ...

But anyway, with only Blazers having a money, there was no need for 20+ mio a year. He could have signed him for less IMO.

Good so far. I got Steph and Forston back, i really need that depth. Still, 2 guys i want still outhere. Too bad they probably won't go for just MLE :)

man stop that drinking
i never saw an post with so many faults from you.
first you missed that finley was at the clipps last year with the MLE and is a Pf who never proved anything. So 7mill is a reach in my opinion.
second the warriors finley never was a FA

something i don´t really get is how drew is still a FA???

You got me. Completely.

I have no idea why i initially attributed J.Finley to the Warriors, but i remember asking him some days ago if he planned to resign Finley and he replied yes, he'll be his starting C and he was planning on resigning him ...

I feel really bad now, but
I just replaced "Warriors" with "Clippers" up there and it still has some merit. Finley was the only FA out there with potential and some decent ratings, so why not roll the dice with him? With the Clippers win rating (72) a short big contract should have been enough ...

It's getting worse by the minute. My brain starts to, no better said it ended working properly this morning (must be the lack of sleep).

Of course the Clippers might have planned to resign him, but only being able to offer 5.4mio starting the Blazers did exactly offer that much more  what was necessary to get him. Perfect GM skill here, albeit a year or two too long (i agree with Pacers here, but not at all on Finley being worthless crap)

Please stop me before I lose the rest of my little reputation here ...

Made me check my roster, just to make sure Jim Finley was still there :)

I thought you were talking about Jim Finley when you PM'ed me, not Jackson Finley.

Jackson Finley has an odd skillset.  I made him an MLE offer, as I am sure many people did.  But he is not a starter yet, imo...

Jackson Finley plays well below is ratings.

I started him for most of a year, and when he started, he shot well below 30% from the field. No one can afford that starting.

He rebounding well, but he fouled alot too.

Guys, get off my back *lol*

I'm with you on Fin's current skill level, BUT ...
this league is about potential as much as anything. Why even draft below #20 if not for potential. He's bad now, true, but he can get better.

But you have convinced me that his contract is plain and simple way too long and too big for a project ...

I agree with you. I draft potential all the time even as high as 8.

I did offer him a max starting contract of 5.4mil. And gave him max raises with a long term contract... so he chose for the Blazers.
Would have liked to re-sign him.

I got Eschmeyer and Dixon who will hopefully provide some much needed defense for my team.  I like my team better this year going into it than any year so far, but I still don't think I'll get out of the worst 5 teams.

glad with my pickup of rouseau, great shotblocker, and i'm hoping his rebounding will improve with his B potential
