I believe I have finshed revamping my team. I suffer a downgrade in talent at SF, but Gadzuric is a very good defensive/rebounding big man who will solidify my froncourt. The pick is also a huge plus, as the Nuggets are in a rebuilding mode.

Interesting deal.

... and I'm not looking to get older.

Reality check, the hornets not only got older they got very old with Gadz already on the decline, especially offensively, and my guy Radman also in his later years (he'll make a nice 12ppg 3rd option with fine defense though) and with a tough contract attached.

Still, if Gadz has a strong year left they could be very good again.

From the Nuggets viewpoint, they now have a clear go-to guy who can - and will - put up big numbers. And they have no C anymore. And still no cap space for a long time. I'm not sure this makes them significantly better, just a bit younger ...

Radman is 28 and Odom is 29... Gadz is 31 and Skinner is 33?

I will happily admit Radman isn't as talented, but I also got the draft pick and Gadz, and Gadz has at least one more good year in him. I don't understand how Marion (also 31) has many good years left and Gadz maybe has one good year left.

Ah well, I am excited for the season to start so I can prove the doubters wrong.

Oh, Skinner I didn't even recognize, he's a pure filler.

So you can't deny you didn't get younger here. Radman isn't in Odom's class (believe me, he was my leader and 2 years younger then) and Gadz is 2 years older already with basically defense left from his prime.

The pick is fine, but it won't make you better this year or next year or the year after next year ... so I decided not to discuss that here ...

The key is the pick.  If the pick is no good it's a lateral move and ya haven't gotten any younger, and thus haven't accomplished anything in line with your objective of moving Marion.

If the pick is good, it's a good trade.

I think my future is still very bright. The only spot I need to fill is the one SG or SF spot (Melo will take one of the two). I think I'll be able to fill that with a draft pick, be it the Knicks' pick or the Nuggets' pick.

Pavel
R Swift
Melo
?
Livingston

If it's a lateral move without the pick, then that is a good trade for me, no?

It's a gamble, but I had to do something to make the team different from last year.  Hopefully, within the next two years, I can make the team respectable again; thus, I'm hoping the pick won't be that high.

Gadzuric really disappointed me the last two years.  His shooting is horrible, and while he's a nice defensive presence, he really didn't help my team much.  Pachulia, while not as good defensively, put up almost the same numbers as Gadzuric did when starting, so I felt comfortable having him as my starter at center.  And Skinner will make a nice backup to complement Pachulia up front.

Obviously, Odom is an upgrade over Radmanovic.  As Celts said, I really was lacking a true #1 option, and Odom now allows Berkowitz to be a great #2.  Also, trading two larger contracts for one big contract should help me if this move doesn't work out, as dealing Odom should be a much easier task than if I had to deal both Gadzuric and Radmanovic.
