Title: Sim 7 Preview/Discussion
Post by: RaptorsGM on November 05, 2005, 12:06:32 PM
Not looking forward to this sim at all, surely it will be the one that knocks me out of the playoff picture for good.

Play 8 games, 4 with Sampson starting at C and Longely starting at SF, and 7 of which I will have Stevie Franchise starting at PG.

Not looking forward to it at all. Thought I was going to have my Hoffa trade done before the sim but apparently I will have to wait a few more days.

Going to try something new now, giving the young guys a chance to show off their talents. I'd like to know who i can play when it counts ...

Delays are much more bearable now that the NBA season has started.  I'm now divided my basketball focus between the Raptors, my fantasy leagues and this sim

Hmmm....if this story doesn't involve some Grey Goose and a 6 foot tall machette-carrying monkey, I'll be shocked.

Unfortunately no, it involves exams and family commitments.

Sim up.  Started off sketchy, getting smoked by the Hornets (they always kill me), then losing to the Warriors on the road.  Won 6 straight after that.  Sammy out another 24 days :(

Decent sim. Tmac dropped 53 and Fortson had some monstrous games. That's it.

Now onto real stuff.... :)

2-4, McKinnee and Hughes went down for a couple games, but Shabinger just about had a triple double and had some nice double figure assist games. Nelson is now back and I'm very happy with the trade for Mobley. Finally, starting next sim, I will be fully healthy, and even more improved now that I have Mobley coming off the bench with Nelson. Now's when time will tell, I should have more scoring and my defense is improved with Shabinger as a starter, Nelson backing him up and now Mobley with B defense over Meyer's C+, if i can't win with this well I can't do much more for this season. Nelson and Mobley and Smith could start as 1-2, and 4 for a lot of teams and they're coming off the bench for me, I can live with that.

Calvin Booth in 23.9 minutes: 4.3 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 0.8apg, 0.5spg, 2.1 bpg, 0.5 TOpg, 35.4% fg and 78.3% ft

Chris Kaman in 27.3 minutes: 6.3 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 1.2 apg, 0.7spg, 1.3 bpg, 1.3 TOpg, 44.6% fg and 72.0ft% ft.

+2.0ppg, +1.9 rpg, +.4apg, +0.2spg, -0.8bpg, -0.8TOpg, +9.2% fg, -6.3% ft

he's only playing 3.4 more minutes...I give Kaman the edge predominantly looking at fg% and figuring in that Curran is now getting 2.4 bpg.

Well that was a complete shock...expected to go 1-7 or 0-8, actually go 5-3 and am now only 2 games out of the 8th playoff spot, exactly halfway through the season for me.

However, changes will be here before next sim.

As for this sim, the defense was much better. Sampson played amazing at C in place of Yao, with games of 18-13, 17-8, 21-14, 17-13. Astonishing.

2 of my 3 losses were within 4 points too, which is a welcoming sign.

And with a 3-4 sim, the Spurs pick is currently tied for 6th.

I didn't want to see Hornets or Nets on my schedule again. :hotbounce:

6-2 with both losses coming by only 2 points. 34 point victory against the Nets was pretty nice too :)

6-4 this sim...  Pleased with that.

Most pleased with the the split with the Clippers, and with the win over the Nets.  Have split with every team ahead of me in the standings, showing that my team has at least a chance against anyone.

another sim another injury....

this sim i went 3-4 without melo.
i had a great game against the warriors with a new team reacord of 10 made 3s out of 14. Didn´t know that my team is an outside threat
artest 4-6, RJ 3-5, Fish 2-2 and Kidd 1-1

With melo down for one more sim i will maybe start hunter now. he is playing very well in limited mins.

5-3 sim. The addition of Murphy makes my depth at SF actually deeper than what I have expected.

Murphy has played great and will be expecting more from him next sim.

Ernest Profit amazed me shooting 9-of-13 from the field  while recording 2 blocks and 4 steals against the Wiz. Which Dwight help schooled the young Wizards with 37point and 22 rebounds.

man. My second option passes too much :D but it rotates the ball more which is a good sign for me. Removing Kidd as an option helps rotating the ball. Fortunately, Kidd comes up with great numbers of asts and still led me team in scoring in at least 2 games. :D

Something funny happened this sim. The Celtics went 1-5 and gave me more answers than I had questions in that.

And before you suspect ... no, there wasn't a single injury involved ... no, I didn't play the nets, Hornets, Clippers and Jazz 6 times (i actually didn't even play a SINGLE playoff team - as of now - other than the Clippers once) ... no, I didn't play my 2nd unit ... no, I didn't play all on the road (lost 3 of 4 away and both home games)

So what happened.

Frankly, at first sight, I have no idea. True, I replaced Ginobili with Van Exel, which cost me some on both ends, but Nat did a fine job defensively, holding opponent SGs to 37% shooting, 12ppg and recording 2.8 takeaways himself (but also getting just 7/4/3 as non-option himself).

Deeper analysis will have to follow  :?:

For now I would appreciate to remove the name "Celtics" from any deep playoff run speculations ...

Lol...  As long as you have the 5th best record in the league, I think you are still in good shape for a a deep playoff run :)

C's no one can explain it, it always happens. The 2 years that I dominated here, there were was always one sim per year where my team shit the bed.
