Title: Sim 5 Preview/Discussion Post by: RaptorsGM on October 31, 2005, 03:40:05 PM I'm trying a few radically new things...such as playing Yao at PF.
Also, I'm going back to the Slow/Inside that used to win me games 2-3 years back. So we will see. I play 9 games, SIX ON THE ROAD. Pretty much all tough opponents. This sim could be a disaster for me, but we shall see. Title: Sim 5 Preview/Discussion Post by: NetsGM on October 31, 2005, 03:43:10 PM late. 1'am ish again. If I get to it at all (could be done tomorrow night).
work until midnight, get home at 12:30, gotta leave for work again at 6:45 am. Title: Sim 5 Preview/Discussion Post by: GoldenStateGM on October 31, 2005, 03:47:47 PM Well, Deng and Kobe will be out the first game, but they return after that.
Going to give an outside focus a try this sim. If Hinrich maintains his averages on another shot or two, that would be incredible. Only six games this sim, so it is a nice time to test a new focus. BTW, it will be a travesty is Hinrich does not make the All-Star team for the first time this year... He is the primary option on a top 10 team, and hitting 49% from the field and from 3 point range, while still dishing out 9 apg. Why not just postpone it now, that way you don't have to think about it tonight when you'll be tired, and no one will stay up waiting for it and then be disappointed. Title: Sim 5 Preview/Discussion Post by: NetsGM on November 01, 2005, 12:40:51 AM ack. first losing sim of the season (1-2). Defense gave up a ton of points, uncharacteristically.
Title: Sim 5 Preview/Discussion Post by: RaptorsGM on November 01, 2005, 12:48:07 AM Hmm...went 3-6, Hoffa played great at C but Yao is simply not a PF.
Failed experiment. Oh well. Now have quite a bit of ground to make up. Title: Sim 5 Preview/Discussion Post by: MagicGM on November 01, 2005, 02:11:39 AM damn this Searles kid can play..
17mpg and managed 8ppg? damn! Dwight was 2 blocks away from tearing down the whole Raptors frontcourt with a triple double :D Title: Sim 5 Preview/Discussion Post by: CelticsGM on November 01, 2005, 07:08:55 AM Celtics went (just) 4-3, but on a road-heavy schedule I did about as good as expected.
Made up one home loss (Pacers, actually that was more of an utterly buttt-whipping from start to finish than a simple loss) with a nice home win over the Nets (which was more of an utterly butt-whipping throughout the 4th quarter than a simple win. 57% shooting and Jefferson hanging 28/12 on Emeka and Jamison). On the road I lost to Sonics and Mavs (giving up around 115ppg on 48%, yak!). But otherwise I held teams to below 40% again, beating Pacers, Bucks, Knicks. On the season i'm 2-1 vs Nets and Pacers, 0-1 vs Hornets, but just 1-5 vs. top8 teams in the West !!! One thing I really like is my steals-TO differential. Mine is around 1.6 (9.7 stl, league-low 11.3 TOs), the opponents is around 7.4 (league low 7.8 st, 15.2 TOs). Love that. And while still leading the league in FG% and opp FG% I wonder why I'm just 26-11 ... And finally, you won't hear me too often dwell about individual achievements (as I couldn't care less what one guy does compared to the team effort), but TONI LENARD is simply fantastic ! Title: Sim 5 Preview/Discussion Post by: HawksGM on November 01, 2005, 10:02:10 AM 0-2 for the Hawks. It's what I expected, no Amare for the sim but I found Rodya is still getting as many assists at the SG as he did at PG. Rodya is better than I thought, I have Trenton Dench in the starting lineup for now to try and make-up for Rodya's poor defense.
Title: Sim 5 Preview/Discussion Post by: SpursGM-old on November 01, 2005, 10:45:34 AM Went 3-4 in a sim that include 6 road games. Lost Etan Thomas (my #2 option) for 4 games after he played only 8 minutes in the first game.
Keep losing players for 2-3 game stretches in the middle of sims. Makes it tough to develop any consistancy. Title: Sim 5 Preview/Discussion Post by: OldNuggetsGM on November 01, 2005, 11:14:27 AM 3-3, not a bad sim.
As of sim 5, I've now played 31 games. Only 9 have been at home, meaning I've played about 2.5 road games for every 1 home game. The majority of games over these next three sims are in Denver, so that should go a long way towards equalizing this disparity, and I should have a truer sense of my team shortly. Title: Sim 5 Preview/Discussion Post by: RaptorsGM on November 01, 2005, 01:20:21 PM I expect the two headed beast that is the Raptors o be broken up by next sim in favour of a more balanced attack.
Only wish the Spurs would show a lttle more consistency - preferrably losing consistently, but winning consistency would help me t understand better where my team is headed. I still expect to make the playoffs this year as one of the top 6 seeds...even though I am currently 5.5 games out of the 6th spot. I need JDn to come to life...he will likely still be here for next sim. Title: Sim 5 Preview/Discussion Post by: CavsGM on November 01, 2005, 03:42:20 PM Great sim, going 6-3. Keogan can still put up 15 points per game in 25 minutes, so that experiment seems to be working. Holton went off for 8 blocks in two different games, very impressive. He and Tsakalidis lead my team to a 4th best 8.1 blocks per game. The picks standings remain the same, the #1 along with a plethora of ones in the 15-25 range.
Title: Sim 5 Preview/Discussion Post by: WolvesGM on November 01, 2005, 03:48:09 PM The post-amare era has begun in DC. Went 3-2 and finally won my first road game of the season. With the absence of Amare, Maggette's been scoring double digits every game, Donta has been stepping up and Strong's proved to be quite the scorer. Now, I can only hope for there potentials to kick in. The only problem is Matt Marion needs to shoot the ball more often.
Title: Sim 5 Preview/Discussion Post by: MavsGM on November 01, 2005, 04:34:13 PM Won four games on the road and the only lost was to the raptors. Big Z and Terry will be out 6/4 days. Going to play the Nets and Hornets at home back2back next sim, that will be fun.
Title: Sim 5 Preview/Discussion Post by: GoldenStateGM on November 01, 2005, 06:36:45 PM Well, the good...
Team went 4-2, one game without Deng and Kobe. Outside offense seemd to work for everyone but Hinrich, but at leats it was effective. Beat the Hornets at their place without Stromile Swift, proving I can play with the big boys... But I am so sick of the injuries. Now Hinrich is out for 5 days... I do not think I ahve had a single sim without significant injuries. How long does the stupid Pierce curse last??? Really, it is quite ridiculous, and seems a little less random then it is supposed to be. Title: Sim 5 Preview/Discussion Post by: SonicsGM on November 02, 2005, 02:02:31 AM Sonics are on a roll. Keep the victories coming!
Title: Sim 5 Preview/Discussion Post by: CelticsGM on November 02, 2005, 04:02:15 AM Quote from: SonicsGM Sonics are on a roll. Keep the victories coming! Well, you win your home games (now), which is necessary. You beat <.500 teams on the road, which is fine. But you also hung 117 on the Hornets, which is pretty impressive. Guess as long as you keep, cough cough, Watson out of the starting lineup you'll be a pretty good team ... :) Title: Sim 5 Preview/Discussion Post by: SonicsGM on November 02, 2005, 01:31:38 PM Quote from: CelticsGM Guess as long as you keep, cough cough, Watson out of the starting lineup you'll be a pretty good team ... :) Am I supposed to bench English? Or would you rather me bench Posey and start English out of position? Watson is an amazing backup PG who was acquired for a very, very late first rounder. I am perfectly happy with having Watson come off the bench for the Sonics. |
