Title: Sim 3 Preview/Discussion
Post by: RaptorsGM on October 26, 2005, 04:32:09 PM
Can't wait..been studying political science all day, and I will need the break by sim time.

I have 8 games, 5 on the road. Anything less than 5-3 will be a dissapointment.

I have 7 games. I predict 5-2. That would put me at 11-3.

Nice.  Went 7-1.  Only loss being a split with the Celtics.

Not nice: after going on a bad losing streak, the 76ers won 3 in a row.  There are now 5 teams better than them.

Dalembert went down (for two games), and Brad Miller stepped up with an 18/13/2 block game and an 18/16/6 assist game.  Then Nesterovich went down and Jamison got more playing time, dropping 6/11 in 24 minutes his first game, then 11 pts, 11 again, 7/7, a 10 rebound game, and another 11 pt game.  All playing around 20 mpg.  Depth is nice :)

Top 4 rebounders (individual players):
Nets
Raptors
Raptors
Nets

top 4 blocks per game:
Nets

11-3

My points for/against differential increased to +14, currently the best in the league. I think it's probably due to playing some weaker teams in that last run though. Still too early to tell how well my team is gonna do, but I am feeling pretty confident at this point. Odom picked up his scoring, and I am pleased with that too.

Marion is averaging 10.5 rpg at shooting guard

Finally! A sim that had more than 1 win. Moved SAR to the starting line up and boy has he been a difference maker. 36 against the magics, 27 against the Nets, then 26, 38 and 27.
Had a 4-4 sim that took me to 6-15.... I honestly do not know why my team is doing so bad. I thought I had a good team on paper. Defense was mediocre but I thought I'd atleast near .500. Instead, im doing horribly!
What is WRong?!

Wow, Raptors, what the fuck happened?

I don't get it at all. Looked great the last sim, and shit a brick this sim.

Could be time for a big change.

All players sucked this sim, period.

5 games on the road against decent teams, so the 2-4 sim was acceptable to me.  Okur sure was in foul trouble a ton, now averaging 4 fouls per game.  At least I've got the leaders near the top of Fouls Per Game and Turnovers Per Game :D

Nice sim for me. My team 4-4. and 3-1 with curry on my team.

Sim 3 Summary:

heat 103 sixers 95

4 guys have 10 or more rebounds. 3 of them (houbregs, terpening, litwack, harpring) had doubledoubles

Hornets 111 sixers 96

Match-up of the best PGs in the league. Livingston and Bolinger both have a great game. Bolinger, had a triple double 15pts 10rebs 10assists and 3 steals.

Rockets 95 Sixers 80
Worst game this sim. Litwack, Houbregs and Harping both have 3 blocks each. The sixers failed to reach their average in rebounds and assists.

Sixers 98 Mavs 93
Sixers starting 5 have 13 or more points in this game. Bolinger almost have a triple double 17pts 11assists and 8 rebs. Sixers had 31 assists this sim.

Bucks 103 Sixers 86
EC's first game as a sixers. He played for 19mins with 15pts 1blk and 4 rebs. Houbregs lead the sixers with 25pts.

Celts 106 Sixers 109
Sixers survive the Celts scoring power, Billups and Lenard both scored 36 points. Curry revives his career by scoring 20pts 10rebs and 2 blocks. And Houbregs lead, again, the sixers with 25pts 9rebs and 4blocks.

Pistons 84 Sixers 110
Sixers shot 51% and limited the pistons for 35.6% FG shooting. Ernest Austin scored 21 points and did a nice job containing redd (10/28FG) Curry had 23points and 8 rebs.

Cavs 78 Sixers  93
EC had 16pts 9rebs. 5 sixers playes scores double figures. Sixers had 30 assists this sim.

Great sim for the Grizz considering the injuries to Martin and Randolph. Without those two injuries I could have eaily gone undefeated. The good teams I beat included the hornets, warriors, and celtics.

Jeff Robertson has done excellent filling in for martin and randolph. Mcdyess is also a key pickup and has done wonderful off of the bench. My shooting percentage is on eof the best in the leagueallong with my ppg which will only continue to increase. Martin, randolph, lewis, and Williams have all consistently done well.

Now onto my problems. My shotblocking is the worst in the league. Jason Richardson went from being a good player to someone who should barely start? My steals have gone up after changing some settings but I am just not creating enough turnovers. Anyways, all in all this was a great sim!

All right, so what the hell happened?

The stats don't lie.

My team- 100.5 points per game (Well under the 14.7 I was putting up through the first 2 sims)

Opponents- 110 ppg (erm...yikes)

Ok, now for the players...

Yao - 39.8mpg, 28.9ppg, 12.3rpg, 1.9apg, 2.1bpg, 46.5FG% (Well Yao, you had a bad sim, which is still awesome numbers, but not up to your standards)

Hoffa- 35.4mpg, 26.4ppg, 12.6rpg, 2.6apg, .8bpg, 45.7G% (Ok, Hoffa, you're gonna have to block a damn shot once in a blue moon. And please, try to play slightly more consistently, would ya?)

JDN- 35.3mpg, 10.1ppg, 6rpg, 1.9apg, 1.4spg, 2.3topg, 47.3FG% (Decent shooting and production, thank you, but your going to have to dish the ball more if you want to turn it over that much)

Lovie- 33mpg, 6.4ppg, 3.1rpg, 3apg, .6spg, 1.8topg, 48.7FG% (Just keep doing what you're doing, Lovie. You are the picture of what I have always looked for from a SG. Wish you were 6 inches taller)

Nash- 29.9mpg, 9,1ppg, 3.4rpg, 7apg, .5spg, 1.9topg, 42.3FG% (Well, at least we know who didn't pull their weight this sim. I know you're old, Stevie, but you cn't do this to me now.)

Francis- 22.1mpg, 8.6ppg, 3.1rpg, 4.3apg, .6spg, 2.1topg, 47.5FG% (Well, thanks for the prodction when Nash was out. So far you are everything i had hoped for)

Bottom line, if this is the defense that I play, I'm never going to win a game.

Take out the Celtics game where GASOL held Yao to 10pt (and scored 25 on him) and your big fella doesn't look so bad.

But don't overreact now, you were just 0-5 on the road this sim against pretty good competition. You'll get back into the playoff picture soon ...

Beckman showed nice backup stats as he grabbed down 13 boards and 5 blocks. not to mention 5 fouls :D

Josh has been rebounding well as of late.

Interesting sim. 6-3 with a road loss to the 76ers, Grizz and Nets and road wins over the Nets - SWEET(!!!) - and Cavs.

dropped to 2nd in ppg, opp ppg and opp fg%, thanks largely by allowing opponents to shoot 45% in my road games.

Still, hardly some sim to lose sleep about. Lenard and Chauncey stay among league leaders and even Calvin Booth got into the top 10 shot blockers despite coming from the bench !!! Guess it's time for a lineup change here.

Now comes the real test with road games at Hornets, Pacers, Bucks.

Latest update in the picks battle:
Blazers 2-2, now #7
Sixers 4-4 (ok, i had to assist them here *lol*), now #5
Wizards 4-4, now #3

btw, did I mention i BEAT THE NETS already ?

C'mon guys, just stayed somewhere close until the deadline...

Just like i was hoping for 50 %, played Clipps 2x, one win, one loss, won vs Wizards and lost to Mavs by 8, however
i'll make a huge change for next sim.

Yes, that was a brutal game by Yao.

And I know, but I have to be able to play defense on the road too.

We shall see, but I certiainly won't be overreacting, I still really like this team.

3-2 sim.  Dickman and Collier player great and fairly consistent this sim but Ivan was incredible.  He really scored a lot, despite not seeing a rise in his ratings, I think he's become a better player.  Marion pretty much fell off the face of the earth statistically this sim.  And our reigning college player of the year Rodya Novoseltev played very well at the point this sim.  He's showing the ability to get some triple doubles for me.  A lot of positive things this sim but nothing to make me think we will be in contention for the 8th playoff spot.

Well, Hoffa's career average for blocks per game is 0.8, and JDN for his career turns it over more than he gets assists.  You probably should have looked at these things before acquiring these players :)

Oh I know, but that can always change.

Hoffa is very inconsitent -he will have 4 blocks one game then go 3 games without registering one.

Oh I know, but that can always change.

It's more like 3 blocks one game, then 3 games without one. That's what 0.8 blocks average means.

And these things seldom change, especially over a season. Maybe longterm ...

Longterm is waht I'm looking for. I just wnat to see some consistency...and some better defense.

A team with A/B/B+/B+/C+ defense is bad, yes, but shouldn't be 110 ppg bad.

A 3-3 sim, not so bad but I would surely like better. It's going to be the same storyline from last season, as the team is pretty much the same. Terrific offense that can light up the scoreboard with ease, but a terrible defense that can lose games. Unfortunately, there isn't much I can do about the defensive problem. The main weaknesses are Chamberlain and Keogan. Chamberlain I cannot bench, because he is simply running the offense like a star PG, averaging a 3rd best 9.5 APG. I could trade for a good defender at SG and bench Keogan, but the offense will suffer and I'm not sure how much the defense will benefit from it. Oh well, we'll see how it all pans out...

And as I side note, I'm gonna predict that the Hornets go all the way this year and win a championship. Not to take anything away from the Nets, but this team is simply amazing. They have the perfect balance of offense and defense. With Ben down low, their big three will shine even more now.

But I gotta tell ya Hornets, you have a knack for trading away great picks. First, it was the pick that ended up being #1 and English was selected. Then in the Odom trade, you gave me the Spurs pick which became the #1(Keogan) and this years Suns pick, which is set to be another #1 pick. On top of all of this, in the Robet Swift deal you sent me this years Kings pick, now set at #4. The Grizzlies are looking good, but just in case, you might want to hold on to the pick...

I consider the Hornets a team to beat too. Great team.

p.s. Consider Kings pick worthless as can be. You can book that.

Hey, thanks for the vote of confidence Cavs :)
I definitely think that the Nets are the team to beat, but everyone has a shot.

Man, I didn't even realize that I traded the Suns pick this year, that's brutal. However, the Knicks pick got me Marion, and the Spurs pick got me Odom, so it's not a total loss. Not sure what I traded the Suns pick for, but probably not something as good as what it's going to end up as.
I would probably still do Robert Swift for the #4 pick (can't remember what else I gave up in that trade.)

Title: Sim 3 Preview/Discussion
Post by: CavsGM on October 27, 2005, 04:33:45 PM
The Suns pick was in addition to the Spurs pick. So that's two #1 picks for Odom... 8)
And in the Swift deal, along with the Kings pick you gave me Pietrus(who is actually looking pretty good now on the Kings) and a 2nd rounder I believe.

Title: Sim 3 Preview/Discussion

Ouch. But there's no way that I could tell that the pick would be #1, given the lotto. It's just been bad luck  :(
I don't think I would do otherwise, going back. There's also no way I could have foreseen the Suns' complete collapse. They have a decent team on paper.

The Suns will rebound, believe me. Sure they lack a decent scorer (and SG/SF for that matter) but they could get one out of the fronline of Magloire, Collison and Hoiberg by trade. Shaq can still start, he just shouldn't be expected to carry the offense anymore.

Hav is a fine starter too, but again he is NO, repeat NO offensive option at all. Let him dish and run the team. Posey is decent and there are worse backups than Ward, Dixon, Walker and Hoiberg/Collison.

The most likely won't make the playoffs as even I didn't that deep of a hole to climb out of, but no way i see them finishing with the worst record (unless they completely dismantle the team)

Well, conference was nice, and received a very pleasant suprise when I finally logged back in.

Warriors have gone 12-3 since Jim Finley was put back in the starting lineup.

And with significant injuries to Don Ruffin, Stromile Swift, and Kobe earlier, the team is still in 2nd place in the Pacific.

Very happy so far, and now just waiting for Swift to recover from his injury...

2-2 sim after some big changes, went 3-3 then 2-4, now 2-2, decided to completly change the lineup and gameplay this sim, but things didn't change much.

Lost to Clipps 83-104 , still my team is playing pretty even, so no big performances by any of the players, they still
distribute the ball pretty even between 6-7 main guys.

Wizards 98-83 Still the same, 6 playeers with more then 11 points, Russel was leading the team with 20

Mavs 95-103 same shit again, i like it tough, 6-7 player rotation, everybody is pretty much even

Clipps again 93-80 same story, still waiting for some one to jump out, but its fine like this tough, Schultz scored 22
Russel 20/6/4, Telf 17 with 10 assists, Cunny 12 with 12 boards, Al with 16 boards.

This team definitely has a good future.
