His defense is adequate for College standards (whatever that means in the pro's) and he was pretty much scoring over anyone thrown at him, including the games vs. top competition. He was the main reason Mississippi was the only unseeded team in the Elite Eight upsetting #7 Miami and #9 Oklahoma behind Escamillas scoring in the process. So lets wait and see what his superb scoring and ballhandling translates into now that he faces top defenders in the big league. Interesting sidenote: NONE of the other seven guys I submittet for the pick #28 was among those choosen from #21-#29. I give you two examples: #18 pick Daniel Holt (Kansas) over achieved in ALL ratings but def.reb. according to FCBC. Yet he's an "A" pot here ? Kentucks PG Roland Talbott, undrafted so far, ist just D pot here in our rating but has some potential not utilized in FCBC. Strange too. That is one of the toughest things about this draft, imo. Next year we will all have a better idea.

Larry overachieved in one cat, underachieved in another. Remembering that FBB potential is a combination of all the FBCB potentials (i.e. because Larry has a B PRD potential in FBCB doesn't mean it's more likely he improves in defense in FBB), I'd guess a C potential is just about right. But IMO this SHOULD give us a better glimpse into whether scouted potential is wrong (i.e. I'd be surprised if Holt's true potential isn't lower than his displayed scouted potential). |
