Title: Finals Discussion Post by: NetsGM on October 05, 2005, 08:45:41 PM Congrats Sonics. We really don't even need to run the last 4 days. I'll sim it whenever you get your dc in.
friggin 2nd place 2 years in a row. Title: Finals Discussion Post by: NetsGM on October 05, 2005, 08:46:53 PM friggin 3 pt game and 1 pt game. they've just been dominating the close games.
I was leading both of them heading into the 4th too. Title: Finals Discussion Post by: NetsGM on October 05, 2005, 08:52:41 PM friggin swept. I guess it's better than losing in 7.
16-0 playoff run by the sonics. best display I've ever seen. Dirk grabs 22 rebounds in teh last game. And you guys complained about Emeka. At least Emeka's not a C+ rebounder. Title: Finals Discussion Post by: NetsGM on October 05, 2005, 08:58:19 PM results are up.
Title: Finals Discussion Post by: BullsGM-old on October 05, 2005, 08:58:34 PM Wow 16-0..
Congrats Sonics Title: Finals Discussion Post by: BullsGM-old on October 05, 2005, 08:59:10 PM So are we doing nothing for the next 3 days?
Title: Finals Discussion Post by: NetsGM on October 05, 2005, 09:00:09 PM Quote from: BullsGM So are we doing nothing for the next 3 days? Just submitting re-signings. Once everyone gets theirs in I will do the draft order and allow free agents to be seen. But we won't bump the draft up. Which is good. I've got real world stuff to do Title: Finals Discussion Post by: SonicsGM on October 05, 2005, 09:03:27 PM Wow...I am blown away
Title: Finals Discussion Post by: NetsGM on October 05, 2005, 09:06:17 PM No, I was blown away.
I knew you were a worse matchup than the Clips, probably the worst in the conference, but I thought I had a better player at every position (with the possible exception being pf), and a much better overall team. Title: Finals Discussion Post by: SonicsGM on October 05, 2005, 09:09:23 PM Matchups mean everything. That's why Dirk is so amazing.
Title: Finals Discussion Post by: NetsGM on October 05, 2005, 09:24:12 PM Interesting.
Sonics were -0.6 in rebounding differential for the regular season. I was a +4.5 so what happens? I got outrebounded by 4 per game in the finals. Turnovers? I was +1.5 in the regular season. Sonics +0.7. In the finals Sonics were +1.5. Huh? With all due respect to English, Boykins is clearly the better at preventing turnovers. Yet he had 4 per game in the finals. That's the difference right there. Rebounding and turnovers. 2 staples to my success. Categories I dominate in. I knew Dirk standing at the 3 pt line would hurt rebounding, that's why I moved Okafor to C for the first 3 games. Didn't help. Points per shot were just about the same (1.14 to 1.15). I had Pettit getting 33 per game. Boykins 23.5. Okafor 21.3. Pettit shot 53%, 55% from 3 pt. Boykins 53%. They had no answer for me. I had Okafor getting 12.5 rpg. Miller off the bench for 9.8 per in only 25 minutes. Dalembert getting 11.7 per. Dirk with 14 rpg? Against Dalembert and Okafor? I can see Camby getting 12.5. I'm fine with that. But Dirk? A C+ rebounder? Losing the series on rebounding? Title: Finals Discussion Post by: Anonymous on October 05, 2005, 09:37:35 PM Congrats Sonics. I've never seen a dominating performance like that in an FBB playoff
Title: Finals Discussion Post by: SonicsGM on October 05, 2005, 10:05:24 PM here's why the Sonics won...
Camby's excellent defense took care of Emeka. Dirk's outside game took Sammy out of action. Kundla's defense against Pettitt's offense. Nick English's great overall game at the point with several options to dish too. Peja off the bench and Dickau's ability to handle the ball = solid SF play. Title: Finals Discussion Post by: BullsGM-old on October 05, 2005, 10:08:34 PM Talk about the way to rebuild. Sonics were in the finals in '05, decided they didn't have what it took to go all the way, began rebuilding through the draft, got a little lucky with some picks (Kundla), made some key trades, and they win the championship 4 seasons later. Good job
Title: Finals Discussion Post by: GoldenStateGM on October 05, 2005, 10:51:07 PM Good to know I was swept by the unbeatable team.
Congratulations Sonics, the best plyoff run we will ever see. :) Title: Finals Discussion Post by: NetsGM on October 05, 2005, 10:56:16 PM Quote from: SonicsGM here's why the Sonics won... Nick English's great overall game at the point with several options to dish too. Peja off the bench and Dickau's ability to handle the ball = solid SF play. I don't mean to nitpick, but... Kundla's defense on Pettit? Did you see what Pettit put up? I'll give ya a hint, Pettit's lowest scoring game was 29 pts, his highest 41, and he put up 1.41 pps. Camby taking Okafor out? Okafor played 3 games against Camby. 20 pts (8-25), 13 rebounds, 5 assists. 27 pts (10-21), 18 rebounds, 4 assists, 6 blocks. 17 pts (5-11 shooting) in only 19 minutes. He did well against Emeka in game 1. Got abused by Emeka in game 2. Then was on his way to being abused by Emeka in game 3, until Emeka got in foul trouble. Because of Dirk. Camby had 1 free throw that game. Camby's a fine player. But in the 2 games he played against Emeka getting starters minutes Emeka got 23.5 (40% shooting), 15.5 boards and 4 blocks. Not exactly shutting him down. Emeka will struggle 1 in 3 games from the field regardless. Meanwhile Camby shot 21% Peja's 10 minutes per game did not swing the series. I mean, great win, and all the congrats in the world. I just don't agree with yoru analysis. Title: Finals Discussion Post by: MavsGM on October 05, 2005, 11:37:18 PM Congratz Sonics.
Damn, how come Dirk cann't play like that when I was in the playoffs? :hotbounce: Title: Finals Discussion Post by: RaptorsGM on October 06, 2005, 12:04:09 AM Holy ish, don't feel so bad about not making the playoffs when there was an unbeatable team anyway.
And now the Peja-Deng+Diddle trade looks great for the Sonics :) Title: Finals Discussion Post by: KingsGM-old on October 06, 2005, 01:29:31 AM Well, well, well....
Title: Finals Discussion Post by: HornetsGM on October 06, 2005, 02:19:05 AM Unreal. Congrats Sonics.
Title: Finals Discussion Post by: CelticsGM on October 06, 2005, 03:27:00 AM wow, thats al i can say.
wow, wow, double wow ... I gave the Sonics no chance whatsoever to prevail in this series, thought home court plus a superior overall team would work in the Nets favor. Oh how far off i've been ... like the Nets getting outrebounded big time by the #23 rebounding team, that's a bit harsh. 16-0 is unheard of. Especially with FBB mixing all kind of intangible and random stuff in to allow for upsets. This is truly an amazing run I'm proud to watch as a first row spectator. So CONGRATULATIONS Sonics for complete dominance of us all here ! :D On a sidenote: I DO believe the Pacers and the Celtics would have had something to say about the Sonics going "and-zip", or even more, but you have to get there first to make some noise, so lets shut up here ... Title: Finals Discussion Post by: CelticsGM on October 06, 2005, 03:33:13 AM and Bods:
don't worry too much, you had an incredible season. One of the best i've ever seen. You just lost to a team that was slightly better or on a hotter streak. With the first 3 close ones, this could have gone either way. So don't be too depressed, your next finals will be around the end of coming november anyway ... ... if you can beat me in the CF then  Title: Finals Discussion Post by: PacersGM on October 06, 2005, 06:49:44 AM Quote from: CelticsGM ... if you can beat me in the CF then  one good season won´t make a champ  next year the east will be even better... Title: Finals Discussion Post by: BullsGM-old on October 06, 2005, 07:21:41 AM Since when did Celtics become god
I mean the huge winning streak was nice, but like me, his second half schedule was not exactly a challenge, it was pretty easy. Title: Finals Discussion Post by: MagicGM on October 06, 2005, 07:24:57 AM congrats to the sonics ;) I just hope they won't blow the team up again.. :D

Title: Finals Discussion Post by: PacersGM on October 06, 2005, 11:28:35 AM i agree
he would have won it also with deng and diddle as backups Title: Finals Discussion Post by: BlazersGM on October 08, 2005, 08:47:17 PM wow, i'm very impressed by Sonics domination, congratulations GM, you're now holding the new NBA record, first team in history to not get beaten in a single game in PO. They should raise you a statue in front of arena :D

Title: Finals Discussion Post by: BlazersGM on October 08, 2005, 09:13:11 PM hehe, well Dirk/English should finance building your statue instead for making it all happen
