Title: Sim 12 - Judgment Day
Post by: BullsGM-old on September 29, 2005, 07:00:12 PM
It's a little early for sim discussion, but this is the biggest regular season sim in the HISTORY of this league

There is still potential for a HUGE amount of movement in playoff seeding, and it's going to come down to the last game for alot of teams.

At midseason this last sim looked like a breeze, the Raptors were struggling, Celtics were terrible, Sonics and Grizz were trying to find they're groove, but now it is the exact opposite.  I'm facing the hottest teams in the league, I play the Raps twice, the Celtics, the Sonics, Grizz, Suns and Bucks.  This could be potential disaster (1-6) or a big success I can ride into the playoffs (6-1)

And in the West there are 6 teams fighting for the last four playoff spots.  With 10 games remaining the Wolves have to go 7-3 to guarantee a spot (although 5-5 would probably make it for them).

Some key games between those 6 contenders in the west:
Wolves @ Kings
Mavs @ Suns
Wolves @ Spurs
Warriors @ Spurs

I don't think i'll make it. Gut feeling.

111 Heat @ Cavs
112 Rockets @ Cavs
117 Cavs @ Pistons
119 Cavs @ Nets
120 Hawks @ Cavs

I need to win four of these. I should be able to beat the Hawks, Heat, and Rockets, but then I'll need to steal one from the Nets or Pistons. Got my fingers crossed...

I will have to play all my games on the road.  I will need some help from other teams and see if we can get lucky.

With games against the Magic, Suns, Bulls, Warriors, Nets and Kings, I think my team has plenty of spoiler opportunities.

I know it's a stretch, especially with the injury situation to Camby and Stojakovic, but it is still a possiblity to win the west overall.

Clippers are four games ahead with eight to play.

Go sonics!

well, I'd be surprised if my team goes 8th. With Kidd anf Fox down, Mobley will run the point. yikes

I don't think my sucess has anything to do with my team gelling or anything like that. I have had a very easy schedule after the all-star break and I think thats the reason why I have the second seed. I may be wrong, but I am not to confident in my team. Only time will tell.

Post by: ClippersGM-old on September 30, 2005, 09:41:08 AM
Yeah, Clippers are looking to re-organize. Had some problems recently with the absence of Brand and Maggette.
They now have to get their act together and protect the home court throughout the western playoffs.

Very tough schedule though... 8 games, Grizzlies, Raptors, @ Hornets, @ Jazz, @ Sonics, @ Rockets (twice), @ Blazers...

Hope to go 5-3.

6 games this sim, 4 at home, 2 away.

The away games are vs. the Heat and the Spurs.
Hopefully those are 2 games I can steal from the home teams, especially with Ray Allen injured.
That Spurs game could be key.
Spurs play only 2 playoff teams in the last sim, and they are at home at both.  If Schabinger plays well in Ray's absence, the Spurs will be tough.

The 4 home games are challenging.  Games against the Blazers, Bucks, Pacers, and the Hornets.
Hoping to go at least 2-2 at home.

4-2 should get the Warriors into the playoffs, with the Mavs having all 5 games on the road.  The Suns have 7 games total, and 5 at home.  But luckily, they play the Mavs once, so that is a guaranteed loss for one of my playoff spot competitors.

I doubt I will make the playoffs.

I play 10 games, 8 on the road, 8 against high-ranked playoff teams.

I would be thrilled to go 4-6, but that probably won't get me in.

If I go 7-3 then my prediciton of winning 14 of 18 would be proved correct :)

Yes...what a way for the rookie to finish his season .  Back to back games against two of the best SG in the western conference: Gatling & Kobe.  With the playoffs on the line.  At least they are home games.

Start the sim off with the Blazers & Wizards coming to town then take a quick trip west to visit the Lakers.  End the season with the Wolves & Warriors visiting San Antonio.  Hopefully the team can continue their strong play on their home court....21-9 since a horrible 2-5 start in the first 2 sims.

I figure that 43 wins will be assured a playoff spot in the west.  42 wins will leave someone out through the tiebreaker.  To get to 43 I have to go 4-1 which means I need to win at least one of the head to head games with my playoff competitors and all 3 against the lottery teams.

HoHoHo, the understatement of the year. My goodness, how can a team winning 14 of it's last 16 games NOT expect to get into the playoffs, especially since it's already in the 8th spot ...

But we all appreciate how you keep expectations low ... *lol*

I'm 13-2 since the trade, but haven't faced ANY top-tier teams. I have 6 games against them this sim.

Today is a very big day, i'm so nervious its almost like its graduation day for me or something! :D . Hopefully this day turns out positive for me, I hope to win 5 of my last 7 and go into the playoffs with 44 wins. But we'll see what happens. This truely is one of the biggest days in SSBA history.

I hope I can do it this year.

Come on, 5-5.

Well, it's not all that hard to understand.

It's called "When Bad Things Happen to Good People" By Harold S. Kushner.

It's exploring God's role in the shit that happens in the world, how we should deal with it, and who's responsible for it.

And I just google'd rakija and got "plum brandy". Is that what it is?

erm.....shit.

Good: Broke the record of wins and held off the Pacers for the #1 seed in the east.

Bad: Pettit will be out the first 2 games of the playoffs :(

Good: Won't have to face the Pacers or Hornets until the EC finals, and the Raptors at all.

Good: Boykins made all league first team, Emeka 3rd team.

Bad: Pettit didn't even make 3rd team?!?!  30.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 4.2 apg, 2.1 spg, 48.3% shooting, 46.4% 3pt, 92.3% ft.  Wasn't better than AI?  Are you kidding me?

I'm 4-5.

Raps, I think I caused you a game out of the playoffs ;)

Anyway, here are some nice stats. Dwight had a 25, 17 performance against Memo. :D

16, 19 and 2 against Eddy.

23, 11 and 2 against Kmart

31, 10 and 1 against Carlos. With Dwight making him perform an abysmal game with 2/13 fgs.

despite all the losses, Dwight is becoming more and more descent. :D

I can't fucking believe this.

I start off the sim going 3-2, including a huge win over the Hornets.

In the 5th game, bam, Yao goes down. Done for the season. I go 1-4 the rest of the way in. Out of the playoffs.

What bad fucking luck.

At least it gives me an appreciation of how vital Yao is to this team.

At least Yao was the MVP.

It's something.

I still can't believe that.

Why couldn't have he got injured in the middle of the season?

Why did it have to be the last fucking sim, when I could have finished 2-3 and made the playoffs?

Well I got 3-2 and sneak into the playoffs thanks to Yao going down for the Raptors. But the Nets will be an extremely touch challenge. The team needs to take advantage of Pettit's absence in the first two games. Although I'm not expecting much, I'm looking forward to it...

Damn, another matchup w/ the 6ers in the 1st round of the playoffs and Kmart is out the first two games.
Strangely enough, I did better without Martin in this last sim.

Odom made all-league 1st team and Marion all-league 2nd team and all-defensive 1st team. I am very happy with 55 wins. I would really like to make it out of the 1st round though.

Worst sim of season, went 0-7 if i'm not wrong, made just 2-3 changes, but schedule was too tough, tried to give Russell more space and minutes, and even him being 1st option and playing SG/SF he played same mpg as before, wanted to raise his numbers a bit, but they only went like 0.1 0.2 up,but he's looking like a future superstar considering his nearly 50 % FG and 3PT% shooting along 90 % FT, needs to improve his D tough, but as i was far from being a candidate for PO, i can be satisfied, i hold 3rd and 4th worst record, hopefully both will be TOP 5, and i hope for a lottery nr.1 so i can be sure i'll get the guy whom i want as it's not such a deep draft otherwise i would be satified with just 2 TOP 10 Picks, like this if i get two TOP 5 fantastic, it means half of my rebuilding plan and my risk has been achieved.

It's done. Finally. The Celtics got to the playoffs !!!
 :D

After getting completely smashed by the Nets in game 1  I was second guessing for a moment if my team really is on a roll, but then a beautiful finish with 6 victories. Just not enough to catch the Bulls for homecourt advantage, but with a 23-18 road record I don't worry too much.

All in all Celtics finish the last 4 sims on a  25-6 run, quite an accomplishment after starting the season 4-18. Second hottest team in the league behind he Nets, currently.

Bulls, I'm ready ...

A run-on sentence, is when it never ends, and you keep talking, and saying bits of, sentences that aren't put together, and it's hard to undertstand, and you use 4357 commas, as if that helps, but it doesn't, and you do what I'm doing now, and keep talking, still talking, yes I'm still talking, it's not gonna end, will never end...

Well, i'm just finishing my novel "Gnostic and Emptiness" (for all you who don't be belive that, all i can say is that it will be published very soon so you can check that out) so i think i'm very qualified to talk about such thing, eg. metaphisyics.

There are ALOT of reasons for that, and is nothing new. It started from St. Paul, to St. Francis to St. Augustin. all of them have very similiar theory on that. Basically it says: succes, money, luck, comfort etc corrupts people. Very few have that while their innocent, good, humble behaviour stays intacted. The rest of are all bunch of sheeps who only seek for their own pleasure, vanity, selfishness etc (Huxley, Orwell, Elliot theory- although they were all consider as agnostics, except Huxley, they all came to same conlussion as saints mentioned above).

And finally! Self qoute from my novel; God is not interested in us being the doctors, writers, philosophers, teachers, arhitects etc. He's only interested in our humanity, and he's going to do everything that takes to achieve that. That includes sacrifieing all of our personal goals and belifs.

PS I hope don't  sound like full fo shit tonight.

Some very close matchups this season, but nothing really to go on.

First, the Warriors overhauled their team.
Second, in the three final matchups, Peja was out due to injury.

This series should be very close, although I expect the Sonics to win in 6.

Very excited to be in the playoffs for the second year in a row, Have a first round matchup with the Jazz.

The series was 2-2 in the reg. season, with the Suns winning the first 2(w/o Kirilenko) , and the Jazz getting the last 2. Hopefully i can make a series out of this, but 3 of my top 8 players will be out for some amount of time in this series. Hav will miss the first 2 games of the series, Hoiberg will be out 5 days, and Walker will probally be out the entirety of the playoffs. but i think that this can be a good series, potentially going all the way to 7 games.

WOW, my second round pick Dean Drew ended up winning Rookie of the Year... He obviously did not do as well statistically as Wells, Koegan etc but I guess FBB factors in how well the team did as well.  Funny thing is Drew didn't even make the Allstar Rookie game yet he won the ROY and 1rst team rookie

Tractor Traylor also took home 6th man of the year.

I'm happy about keeping homecourt from the Celtics although he beat me by  10 this sim.  I might have to tweak my lineup a bit

Truly amazing that my prohibitive ROY favourite Wells did make NEITHER first nor second All-rookie team.

And of course, being a real TEAM none of my Celtics made any kind of postseason team or award. No problem with me, this squad isn't built around individual achievements ...

Wells didn't make it because he missed the last 18 games (and I still had him listed as a SG even though he played SF all year). Hell, he sure would have made the team had he been listed as an SF - my other rookie, SF Richard Ahye made the 2nd team and he only played 28 games

The Celts won 18 of their last 22 road games, beating every team from this east on their home court except the Pacers (and power houses Sonics, Jazz from the west). Call this a turnaround: after they started the year 2-11 away from home the Celts went 21-7 in road games since !!!

The downside of the final season rankings: with the Bulls and Celtics, two of the hottest teams currently have to meet in the first round (#2 and #4 leaguewide since sim8) and the winner will most likely face the #1 hot team Nets.
In the West, there's a similar storyline developing, with the two hottest teams there also having a 1st round "date". Sonics and Warriors are #3 and #6 in the league. But at least the winner of this series can avoid the Clippers ...

Well, now that the RaptorsGM has gotten over his intense hatred of the FBB program, he wishes to say congratulations to the NetsGM for his 66 win season.

Some very close matchups this season, but nothing really to go on.

First, the Warriors overhauled their team.
Second, in the three final matchups, Peja was out due to injury.

This series should be very close, although I expect the Sonics to win in 6.

Ah yes, Peja is back.  it should be interesting to see what he does.  The Sonics seemed to explode when he went on the IL, his return should make for a tough decision...

This series will likely go to 6 or 7.
