Title: Hawks/Raptors Trade Post by: RaptorsGM on September 26, 2005, 03:30:00 PM Well, I felt this was WAY too much to give up for Finley, but Finley wasn't for me, he was for the Warriors.
So I traded Raptors Pick, Spurs Pick, Raptors 2012 first, Deng and Springs for Hoffa and the Spurs 2011 first. Title: Hawks/Raptors Trade Post by: MavsGM on September 26, 2005, 04:38:56 PM Hoffa heading back to Toronto.
Title: Hawks/Raptors Trade Post by: RaptorsGM on September 26, 2005, 04:40:19 PM Finally :)
Title: Hawks/Raptors Trade Post by: CelticsGM on September 27, 2005, 08:28:07 AM I wonder how nobody noticed so far that the Hawks really ROBBED the Raptors here.
No doubt, Finley is nice and he might be a heck of a player some day (though probably never on the offensive end), but getting an solid(translates: old) replacement and 2 mid-1st rounders this year plus a swap of picks is a lot. Title: Hawks/Raptors Trade Post by: RaptorsGM on September 27, 2005, 08:33:08 AM I wonder if it was because everone realized that the Raptors only traded for Finley because they needed him for the Warriors deal?
The Raptors trade the 8th pick, the 16th pick, Deng and Springs for Araujo. They'll take it. Title: Hawks/Raptors Trade Post by: CelticsGM on September 27, 2005, 08:36:03 AM Funny sidenote: Take into account what the Hawks gave up initially to get Finley (for which they were beaten here) and the deal looks like this:
PG Schenk Sonics 10 1st (currently #26) Spurs 11 1st (projected #15) for C Lorenzen Raptors 10 1st (currently #8) Spurs 10 1st (currently #14) Raptors 12 1st (projected #25) I'd call that still something the Hawks could do if Schenk isn't in their plans, but them hardly come out huge winner here. The Raptors have no intrest in Finley and would not have given up even the Spurs pick for him, but they had no choice as he was an esential piece in the Hoffa deal. Title: Hawks/Raptors Trade Post by: GoldenStateGM on September 27, 2005, 08:46:50 AM technicaly, you could say they robbed me...
Those 2 firsts this year could have been mine just as easily as Finley. Finley is already a good player, and is 19 years old, with B potential. He has some serious growth left in him, I think. Finley is perfect role player for now. Title: Hawks/Raptors Trade Post by: CelticsGM on September 27, 2005, 09:28:52 AM Quote from: RaptorsGM Then you're not seeing the whole picture. What the hell are we talking about here?     Title: Hawks/Raptors Trade Post by: RaptorsGM on September 27, 2005, 09:35:15 AM Quote from: CelticsGM Quote from: RaptorsGM Then you're not seeing the whole picture. Although there is a serious chance that neither of those picks will be lotto. Title: Hawks/Raptors Trade Post by: HawksGM on September 27, 2005, 09:44:16 AM Yea, I always knew the Raps would make a good push, I'm just hoping it's too late and that the Spurs faulter so I can get 2 lotto picks.
Title: Hawks/Raptors Trade Post by: RaptorsGM on September 27, 2005, 09:45:49 AM It could happen. Right now you're Spurs pick is Tied for 16th due to them being in the playoff picture. But if they fall out of the playoffs it jumps to 12th.

X-rays showed he could grow up to 7'6 inches... :D Truly, all I hope for from Finley is to be a good defensive and rebounding center. If he makes it to a C+ in, I will be quite happy. Really want his rebounding to go up, and then some defense. That C handle though... I really like that about him. Title: Hawks/Raptors Trade Post by: NetsGM on September 27, 2005, 10:26:39 AM Yes, C handle, nice.
Of course, if you ever actually allow him to touch the ball on offense it will have been a mistake ;) Title: Hawks/Raptors Trade Post by: GoldenStateGM on September 27, 2005, 10:35:31 AM Quote from: NetsGM Yes, C handle, nice. Of course, if you ever actually allow him to touch the ball on offense it will have been a mistake ;) Actually, I think the reason he takes so few shots is because of his handle (I hope) 9 rebounds per game this last sim, and only 5 shots per game. That is very few shots for a big man who plays 31 minutes. Most big men accidentally put up 10 shots per game. :D Title: Hawks/Raptors Trade Post by: RaptorsGM on September 27, 2005, 11:50:28 AM The jury is still out. Obviously Swift or Maggette would have been better choices, and beleive me when I say the Warriors and I tried everything in ur power to get him.
I love Finley's size, but I'm not even sure if he'd be playing on my team rigt now. It's going to take alot of improvment for him to be a quality starting C. I hope he does improve for you. Title: Hawks/Raptors Trade Post by: GoldenStateGM on September 27, 2005, 12:17:14 PM He is perfect for my current team, just maybe not for everyone.
I know it is only one sim, but 9 rebounds and 2 blocks in 30 mpg is pretty decent. And that aligns well with his season averages. Even though his shooting percentage is bad (37%), who cares? On the season so far, he takes less then 4 shots per game. I do not need him (or want him) to score, and I am very glad he does not take many shots. The problem will be if he decides to start taking more shots. For now, he is an excellent fit for my team. I also have 4 scorers at my other positions, which is something most teams do not have. Hopefully, next year his rebounding and defense will go up. |
