This will be the start of something real big ...

Title: Sim 8 Preview/Discussion
Post by: CelticsGM on September 22, 2005, 11:21:02 AM
... or the end of all hopes for the Celtics. Go 7-2 and I'm in, go 2-7 and i'm out. It's really that simple.

Now where shall the winning ways start for the C's ? Looking at the schedule i'd say at ...

Quote
71 76ers @ Celtics
72 No Game
73 Pacers @ Celtics
74 Lakers @ Celtics
75 Celtics @ Bucks
76 Warriors @ Celtics
77 Supersonics @ Celtics
78 Celtics @ Cavs
79 Cavs @ Celtics
80 Mavericks @ Celtics

... the PG position. For the first time in ages (translates: forever) I have a legit PG directing the team (two time All Star no less). There might be some missed assignements this sim or passes flying into the stands, but I strongly believe this will be a much improved team now.

Hope for a winning sim to at least keep the distance to a playoff spot from growing even further. So good luck team ... and WIN !

I'll welcome back Kirilenko for 2 games as a backup, I've been lucky to have early injuries...helps me round out my DC when I know what all my players can do.

Will be interesting to see if Yao plays ever more minutes with y very fast pace.

also, Nash and Diddle should play more that i am never trapping or pressing.

should be a .500 sim.

Just noticed that Diddle is out for 7 games...will have to see how Lovie does at SG.

i probably need to go 5-2 this sim to even have a shot at the 8 spot.  And I see no reason why I would go 5-2 considering the team has played poorly in every conceivable setting.

Basketball game is only 48minutes. You expect them to play even after the game? Nash and Diddle is already playing alot of minutes, 40mpg and 31mpg respecitvely.

What im saying is that 31 and 40 minutes is already a lot of minutes. What do you expect? Both of them to play 48mpg?

maybe he could play Lorenzen Wright at pg and bench Yao Ming.

I said they'll play more minutes. I didn't say they'll play twice as much. If Nash gets 41 mpg this sim he's played MORe minutes.

Like i've told you before. Yes i admit i did tank, and i doesnt take a rockets scientist to tell you that.

BUT.. i did stop after you make the rules.

And btw, Michael STEWART AVERAGE something like 24PPG 2.+ SPG during that sim. I tanked once, but it should lose my credibility because i've always played by the rules.

that is more obvious tanking.

anyway, sim's up.  The draft is screwed up (probably the old draft).  I'll fix it later.  I have to go on my laptop to output the imported draft class.

4-3.

Gonna go back to the Fast pace though, I think the guys like it better.

Umm....What? 2-7, ah, playoff hopes are not looking good. Well, I might make it but I didn't want to play the Nets or Pacers. Although, one of my  wins this sim was again the Nets... :?:
Looks like defense may be an important component after all... :P

2-3, won the two games with Kirilenko, lost the 3 without him. Curran produced more at C statwise, especially in rebounding, however he didn't fare too well against Yao (but who does) although he did have a career high 8 blocks in a losing effort. Well with Kirilenko back it's time to get into playoff mode...squeaking by with a 0.5 game lead in the division. Daniels is now the starter. Just gotta figure out whether I want Curran or Kaman at center. Right now, Curran is my preference as Kaman needs another strong TC before I can depend on him, besides I don't have to worry about facing a Yao during the playoffs. I guess I'll still consider whether I want Shabinger starting or not...he's in the Jazz doghouse for now.

There is no rules regarding tanking at that point of time. I did stop once you did implement the rules. Anyway, its still your opinion.

Just like I said, my easy schedule is kicking in.

6-1 this sim, 4-3 in the sim before.  I crushed the Clippers (without Brand though), the Jazz, the Bucks, the Knicks, and the Heat by an average of well over 20 points.  I beat the Raptors despite Yao AND Deng BOTH going off for over 40

My sched is only going to get easier, I'm expecting 4-1 next sim.  the downside is I don't play nearly as many games as I did in the 1rst half

Title: Sim 8 Preview/Discussion

Unbelievable sim for the sonics.

7-0 (5-0 on the road)

Defeated the Clippers for the second straight time (2-1 this season)

Nicklaus English gets his first career Triple Double vs Chauncey Billups and the Celtics.

Dirk was on fire after the switch to outside.
38.6 PPG, 9.1 RPG, 3.6 APG, 1.6 SPG

Dickau has played amazingly since his move to the starting SF spot.

3rd place in the west now.

Emeka *just* missed a quadruple double.  26 pts, 15 rebounds, 9 assists, 8 blocks.

He then recorded his 2nd triple double (15 pts, 18 rebounds, 11 blocks).

so much my team mounting up some sort of charge at .500. I went 1-6

6-3 is ok without Damp

Cato is a little tired now after this sim and will get a break.
I only played a 3 man rotation at PF/C because of the Injury bug.
JO responded great with taking more shots while shooting still over 50%
for this sim 31PPG 12RPG 4APG and 2BLkPG
Carmelo had a career high and team high 55points against the blazers.
for this sim: 25/6/4
Also two more records for my team in points made 140 and allowed 59
(by the way i like to play the Kings  :D )

Nice stats, but you forgot to tell us what he did against the Sixers. Hope we get a complete analysis of that 36 pt / 56% vs 28% blowout at the hands of Timmy Duncan and co. on day 79 !

finally had an above average sim. there was supposed to be a roster shakeup scheduled if my team didn't perform an above .500 sim.

Beckman showed some signs despite the loss to the heat. he had a 11, and 14 performance despite the backup minutes given to him :D

Gilbert is shooting better with Kidd on hand. :D

just when I thought I had a good sim, Wally suffered a pinched nerve.yikes. he must havehad to punch appeal to make the opposing player pinch him. :D

Title: Sim 8 Preview/Discussion
Post by: CelticsGM on September 23, 2005, 04:33:55 AM
Oh what a disappointing sim it was.  :(

Starting off with the expected loss to the Sixers (those starting lineup changes always kill me, but Booth going down and unproven Johnny Duncan getting the assignment vs Tanner sure didn't help) we wen't on a breif streak winning 4 straight, all by 15pt or more (Pacers, Lakers, Bucks, Warriors - thanks Chauncey for giving Iggy his first career triple-double).

But then the sim turned into a nightmare.

Getting demolished by the Sonics wasn't a complete surprise (other than allowing 54% shooting) but after beating the Cavs on the road in a very important tiebreaker matchup I returned home only to lose to them in this mini-series (more importantly losing the season series 1-3 now). That was the biggest loss of the season so far !!!

Getting outplayed, outshot (again 54%), outrebounded and consequently beaten by the Mavs only completed the disappointing finish to this sim.

So despite making up 3 games on the Cavs and 1.5 games on the Pistons I feel we missed a great opportunity here. Still 3 games (and 3 slots not to forget) behind the #8 seed (and the right to be the Nets breakfast package) it doesn't get any easier from here ...

also interesting Jonathan Fox played out..

almost a 6:1 assist to turnover ratio.
.1 steals shy from 1spg :D

not to mention those are back-up stats :D

Congrats for a above average sim. You missed your goal going .500 (would have been hard anyway playing 7 games) but did stay in the playoff hunt.

Your picks dropped from #4 and #12 to #7 and #17, and that should be prove enough for now your not tanking. Heck, even my Celtics pick dropped from #1 recently to #9 currently ...

Guess the list of playoff candidates in the East starts to get smaller.

Nets, Pacers Hornets are a lock
Magic, Bulls and Sixers are almost certain, too.

That leaves 2 open spots for 6 teams fighting: Pistons, Cavs, Wizards, Heat, Celtics, Raptors. (Outside chances for the Bucks but they are not only 5 games but also 5 slots in the rankings out of the #8 seed)

With the current holders of the #7 and #8 spot going 3-5 and 2-7 respectively, and the lower 4 teams all having .500 or better sims, everything is possible.

This will be a heck of a season finale again this year ...

Yeah we both got screwed last season, hopefully we both get in this season

I'm really hoping I get the 4rth or 5th seeds, as I'd have a good chance against the Magic in a 7 game series.  I've done well against them this season.  If the seasonal games are any indication, I'd get crushed by the Pacers and Nets if I faced them in the first round

Well, even though my team royally sucks this year, Iggy in his first sim as a PG played very well.

7.3 point, 8.3 assist, 7 reb, and only 2.4 to's on 44% shooting.
And his first triple double ever...

But Hinrich comes back this sim...   :hail:

The whole team had to run wind sprints after that 'till like 1am. Do I care that this is against any FBB rules and that the SSBA player association is prepairing to file an official protest to league headquarters ? Nah. Just gotta make sure that doesn't happen again ...

Hey, don't feel bad...

9 ppg, 8 apg and 8 rpg vs. the Grizz...
6, 12, 12 vs the Pistons...  he was close 2 other times this sim.

I would have the team do windsprints, but it interferes with Araujo's donut eating time...

5-3 sim....not bad considering 5 of the 8 games were on the road.  Loss by 1 in Detroit, took apart the Jazz before AK came back, lost to the Clippers to balance our season series at 2-2.  Also had a tough 4 point loss to the Wolves on their court.

Have finished with a very brutal schedule playing 17 games since the all star break.  Now I have just 20 games left in the final 4 sims...only downside is that 13 are on the road.

Title: Sim 8 Preview/Discussion
Post by: NetsGM on September 23, 2005, 05:38:59 PM
100.2 ppg, 44% shooting, 39% 3pt.  Opponents had 88.2 ppg, 41% shooting, 33% 3pt.

Rebounds only +1.  Turnovers I had 14.7 to their 16.7.  Blocks +6.  Made nearly 8 free throws more per game than my opponent.

Emeka was my best player this sim.  23 ppg, 15.2 rpg, 3.5 apg, 4.6 bpg, 44.5% shooting.  Held PF's to 41% shooting, which would have been much better had it not been for TD.

Pettit was a bit of a disappointment.  Did score 30 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 4.6 apg, 2.3 spg, but only shot 40.2%, 38% 3pt.  Much lower than his career averages.

Boykins offensively was down a bit (18.1 ppg 46.7%, 37% 3pt), but had 9.9 assists to 1.8 turnovers and held pg's to 38.4% shooting.

Dalembert with 11 ppg and 11.8 rpg, 3.8 bpg.  Bailey Snow had 2.2 apg in only 8 mpg, and a 3/1 ratio.  Shot great % (57%, 50% 3pt).

Overall a nice sim.  not great, but nice.

Did you recognize, still no word on the Sixers debacle, quite interesting.

But from a psychological standpoint, repression sometimes can lead to far better results than overanalyzing, so maybe, just maybe we all shouldn't cross this topic when we meet bods somewhere. So let's all just act like that horrible showing never happened ...

SG : Garrett Pettit / John Salmons
PG : Earl Boykins / Chauncey Billups

Now could you please get MY GUY Chauncey out of your sig ?

I just realized how little offense my 2nd unit now has.

Lo: C+ C-
Darko: C+ D+
Turkoglu: C+ B-
Salmons: C B
Snow: C B

If Dalembert or Battier go down, I think I have a prayer of replacing them.  If Boykins goes down, it's *possible* Emeka and Pettit pick up their games enough where Snow can be adequate.  If Okafor or Pettit go down I'm screwed hardcore.

but everyone has their opinion on that.

the FBB program let's you see career stats.  Mason Mercer has the highest career ppg from a pg at 21.  Next highest is Jason Kidd at 16.9.

Mason is also 3rd (tied) in career spg (among all players) at 2.2 and 8th in career avg in apg (7.9).

Of course, that one negative, he's 1st in career topg (4.8).

Cool, thanks for those stats.  Yeah the turnovers stink but everything else makes up for it.  I didn't realise he was 3rd alltime among all players with 2.2 spg, this year his steals are lower than usual but he's been picking it up as of late.

Yeah, I forgot all about the records page, I don't think I've checked it since my first season here.

I didn't even know Mercer holds the record for most steals in a game (12 in 2008) and turnovers (14 in 2007 )
