Title: FG Attempts-Per-Game Post by: MavsGM on September 19, 2005, 12:29:29 PM Anyone know how I can increase LeBron's FG attempts per game? I never have a player in top 10 and don't know why. Even Dirk can't crack the top 10 when he played for the Mavs and now he is at #5.
Title: FG Attempts-Per-Game Post by: Iverson2Korver43 on September 19, 2005, 01:05:25 PM You probably have too many good scoring options on your team... Maybe if you put LeBron as the #1 scoring option and put bench players as the #2 and 3???

PistonsGM is right. I have great scorers on my team, but none even close to top 5 because they all score! I have 6 players avereging over 11 ppg. You know that even Corey Maggette could average over 20ppg easily on another team with not as many scorers?! Is it important to you that your player is top 5 in field goal attempts per game? Yes, I do care and yes it's important to have a player in top 10 in FG attempts. You want to know why? I whether have a guy like Bron take 25 shoots per game with high FG% then someone jack up shoots as a non option player with low FG%. Title: FG Attempts-Per-Game Post by: KingsGM-old on September 19, 2005, 04:35:31 PM Maybe the program has some ratings for selfisness also. Cause, like in real NBA, although he's a star maybe he shots less then some other guys like Tmac, Kobe or Pettit for example.
Title: FG Attempts-Per-Game Post by: NetsGM on September 19, 2005, 04:37:18 PM Part of it probably has to do with finding the right settings.
Pettit never shot too much, until I went to a fast pace and an outside focus. The outside focus really increases his FGA's/game. Outside focus does help shift FG attempts from your PF & C to the other 3 guys. Earlier this year when I felt Thomas & Mihm were taking too many shots as non-options I switched from balanced to outside. Russell, Arenas & Parker FGA all went up. But then you also have to watch how it impacts FG% & FTA. And as the old saying goes, the highest-% shot is still and will always be a dunk ... . That was basically the point of watching FG%...if you change a player who gets a lot of shots slashing to the rim into a jumpshooter his FG% will probably go down. Also jumpshooters don't get fouled as much as someone attacking the rim hence the reason to watch FTA. |
