Alright, Celtics and myself jumped too earlie on this...But, is this allowed? I think it's against the rules.

Alright, two things.
1) When making a trade involving draft picks, always specify 3 things.  Teams draft pick, year, round.  Yes, Pacers only has one 2010 first, but I shouldn't have to check that.
2) Pacers, didn't you just say you were morally against this and called it cheating?  Didn't you say you had a problem with the proposed grizz/mavs trade because the mavs were cutting eschmeyer and daniels and the grizzlies signing him?  Isn't this a little hypocritical?

The rule page WILL be updated.

Pacers will trade their 2010 first

And mavs, what the hell are you thinking?  You can't tell me you couldn't have gotten better for Dampier than a bad rookie and a bad draft pick?

Yes, I'm going nuts.  Well, no one show interest in Damp except two teams.

Well, I'm a big proponent of "just because it's the best trade you got doesn't mean it's a good trade" theory.

And I really can't believe the Pacers complained about this attempt in the Mavs/Grizzlies trade then agreed to a trade that sent Jamison out only to have him cut and re-signed by the Pacers.  No way this gets allowed in the future.

i agree. there is no sense to make such a big upset for a player who wouldn´t be backup on one of our depth charts.

and for bods i asked if there is a rule against that and after i slept over it i thought i should take the chance to get a C who can help me right away.

The trade will be processed as originally posted.  There is currently nothing in the rules against it.

I just find it extremely hypocritical to complain about it, then 12 hours later do so yourself.

Pacers will probably take the East after this trade

IMO, a guy has got to be on the trade block more than 2 days before you decide that no one is interested, so you take a bad deal.

I tried to talk to MavsGM 2 times on AIM about Ilgaukas or Dampier and was willing to trade Dunleavy, but I guess he doesn't like the Pistons...

Alright, here's the deal.

At 2:05 pm Mavs traded for, and subsequently cut Antwan Jamison.  This is equivalent of posting in the cuts/signings forum.

At 2:05 pm Celtics posted in the Cuts/signings forum that he is signing Antwan Jamison.

However, Antwan Jamison is not a free agent until he leaves the Pacers.  That doesn't happen until Pacers accept.  So, technically, Jamison was cut at 2:08 pm (when the Pacers accepted).  Then the first one to sign him was, in fact, the Pacers (at 2:08 as well).

Antwan Jamison is returning to the Pacers in what will be the last of these types of moves.

I know I was early as I've just seen the cutting and reacted. Pacers later posted the signing as well but removed that sign thread later on (also from THIS thread) so technically I should have signed him now ...

But I will discuss this with the Pacers - what to do now, since that I even signed Antawn might be based on a misunderstanding in our conversation.

As of right now, Antwan Jamison is on the Pacers for the minimum.  If you want him, you'll have to work out a sign and trade with the pacers within 24 hours.

Damn.. Nice trade for the Pacers. They got a very good C in Dampier. In return they basically give up nothing.

Dampier
J-neal
Melo
Artest
Fisher

Damn...

Onesided as can be. Pacers are now right there with the Nets now. I can't belive the Mavs did this.

And Bods you already said last year that you're not going to allow this kinds of trades. I think we were refering to Payton situation in real NBA.

It's just not fair and i'm certanly against it.

Now what puzzles me is that they already have a C very close to Damp on their roster. Cato gives them roughly 10/12 recently with superb defense next to JO.
And whil it didn't cost them much .. it may cost them more now (in the W column). They picked up a great defensive C which might give them 11/13. What he also gives them is
- 42% shooting (at C now, he was really playing out of position next to Z at PF) vs. 46% from Cato
- 66% ft shooting (vs. 79%)
- 2 TOs a game (vs. less than 1)
- 2 blocks (vs. 1.5)

Now why he is definitely and improvement over whoever backed up Cato and JO before, I wouldn't exactly call that an area of big need for the Pacers. So they lost an interesting prospect big man (which are rare too)and a low draft pick for a VERY SMALL upgrade ...

It will all come down to Pacers, Nets and Clippers. Actually Mavs did us a favor here in the West. He made the path more easier for Jazz and myself with this trade. Too bad i don't have a contender to exploit that.

Then stop complaining and build one. A dozen teams are about to (or did already) start rebuilding and I haven't seen that many solid players available in a league since the last expansion draft.

i can´t understand why the spurs and magic are allowed to change their deal and here it is not.
ME and the mavs both agreed that jamison will not be cut and resigned and still bods insist that he is part of the trade. If the celtics want jamison they have to talk to the mavs since imo i am not the owner of jamison anymore.

spurs and magic posted the trade incorrectly.  you changed your mind.  that's the difference.  I went back and verified this from past pm's.

trades cannot be altered once posted and agreed upon.

What I don't really like is the fact that the Pacers get Jamison.

IMO, once the Mavs post the trade and say that they will be cutting Jamison, he's fair game.

I really think the Celtics should get Jamison.
