Blazers accept, sad to see Fox go,but this gives Blazers 10 million more in cap space to be around 20 mil next offseason and their future plans for the team.

Hm...not sure I like trading Fox for capspace.  think he was underutilized in portland.

Very happy to get something for Webber...  Fox looks as if he could be something very good...  The Pacers pick wil be no better than in the 20's so it wasn't really a loss...

Side Note:  Pistons will be looking at any offers for Michael Redd and Mike Dunleavy...  I would be interested in young players and draft picks...  And if it is worth, I would possibly take back bad contracts...

Blazers have a big plan for next 1-2 years, and only possible guy to be sacrificied was Fox,we're sad to see him go, but he was not a part of the plan, altough he will contribute a lot to Pistons as he truly is a very good player, and adding some extra cap space is good also.Next season should prove if this trade was good or bad. It's impossible to say now.

Welcome back Mo Pete. Your old locker is still here (sorry Pau, would you mind to move over there ...)

And i' dying to see what this great plan would be where a #25 pick (we ALL learned now what 10+ picks are worth) replaces a guy on the verge of stardom (this guy is B- B offense AND B+ defense AND B pot AND THIS GUY IS 20 YRS OLD !)

I can't even think of TWO scenarios in which this deal would be even remotely good for the Blazers (the one would be career ending hip injury for Fox when sliding on a pack of weed after clearing his locker in Rose Garden)

Pick is not even important in this deal, but still its alright even if its 25th,a Drew sure is a great player, but i have other plans.

This is an unbelievable trade for the Pistons.  Fox is a very good SF, and Cunningham isn't bad either.  Webber is junk, and the pick is going to be very late.

So, if I get this right, it was Cunningham and Fox for a first rounder and the ability to save $5 million?  Fox is better than anybody that the blazers could get with $5 million, in my opinion.

its not gonna be 5 million,it will be around 12 or little more

Let's not ignore the impact that Theo can have for the Pistons. He's still one of the top shotblockers in the league. He could even be a starter...

Cunningham???

Defense????

That would be the worst defensive frontcourt in the league, by far.

Crap, I misread that.  Cunningham is not a part of the deal.

Nevermind...this is an equal trade!

I mixed this deal with the Spurs/Magic deal.  Disregard all of my posts in this thread!

Umm, huh? I think everyone is missing something. Ratliff is an expiring! So Portland trades Fox, a young star in the making, to save 3 mil, which is his own contract. So basically, he traded away Fox just to get rid of the contract...WTF?

That's what I was saying, but I got twisted around two trades.

Well, he also got rid of Eisley's 3.75 million next year.

But yeah, if all he was looking for were expirings for Fox and Eisley, i'm sure he could have gotten a better pick for it had he put it up on the trade block.

Yea...if I had known he was willing to dump Fox then I would have added another expiring to the SAR deal.

It's not that bad of a trade...  He got $6+ million in cap room and a future pick -for- 3 players he didn't want...

this coming from the guy who stole Fox!

I didn't steal anyone...  At first I was willing to do a trade with Dunleavy, but he wanted expirings...  so that is what I offered...

Title: Pistons - Blazers Trade...

It's a terrible trade because he could have gotten more for it.  Much more.

Well, I did have to cut Morris Peterson if that is any kind of consolation...

You all forgot one more thing,Webb, it's 3.75 Eisley contract,3 mil Fox and Webber's 4 mil more then Ratliff expiring,i got from this deal 10.75 million cap space more which gives me almost 15 million for FA next season

no, the difference in the expiring's is irrelevant, because they will be off your cap anyway by the time the draft and free agency gets here.

You gained 6 million, not 10.75.

lol. NO.

Just because you add MORE contract doesn't mean you get that taken off.

If a team has 100 million dollar pay roll, all expiring, then don't enter FA with -60 million in cap space.

with around 12 million i'll still have chance of getting a better player then Fox,without eisley's and ofx 6.75 it wouldn't be possible

Title: Pistons - Blazers Trade...
Post by: BlazersGM on September 16, 2005, 04:52:19 PM
and i'm working on few millions more,or even a lot of millions more and some picks

Yes, but what we're saying is you could have put it on the trade block and gotten a better pick than the 3rd or 4th best team in the league.  There's probably not a team in the league that wouldn't have given you expiring contracts for those 2 players.

well that's true, i wasnt thinking about that at all, about Webber + 4 million i didn't know,Pistons GM told me its 4+ more for me,i was in hurry so it didnt occur to me, but still Russell will be playing Fox role next season, and with this trade my team will go down in performance also most likely,so hopefully i'll get a good pick and a good player on FA,also Zach can go for a young talented PF,filler (expiring) and picks

Wish I would have known that, I could have offered Manning...

I said you would get $4+ million in cap room if we did the original Webber, Pick -for- Ratliff and Fox...  But then I said you would get over $6 million if Eisley was added due to their contracts going past this season...
