However, the team is free to trade the player by himself (not packaged with other players) immediately. This two-month restriction applies only to teams over the salary cap. But, since everyone in the past has just signed players to crazy contracts to get over the cap and use the MLE and LLE, now there is a benefit to staying under the cap.
