Miles is a roster spot taken up, but with the Pierce trade, I have some spots open. He is also a nice expiring for next year. Longley is Iggy insurance. If Iggy cannot handle playing the SG this year, or if Pierce or Iggy get injured (and gee, what are the odds of Pierce getting injured :? ), Longley can slide into a starting SG spot. This trade gets Portland close to max money available for next year in free agency as well...
