Title: Spurs/Raptors Trade Post by: RaptorsGM on August 28, 2005, 01:17:18 PM Spurs Trade:
Radoslav Nesterovic Spurs 2010 First Rounder Spurs 2010 2nd Rounder Spurs 2011 2nd Rounder Raptors Trade: Chris Mihm Raptors Agree. Title: Spurs/Raptors Trade Post by: SpursGM-old on August 28, 2005, 01:21:23 PM Spurs agree.
Gives me a more natural PF. Better defender & rebounder from that position than Nesterovic. Title: Spurs/Raptors Trade Post by: CavsGM on August 28, 2005, 01:23:44 PM Wow. Raps, you might be disappointed with that pick next year, because the Spurs are looking pretty damn good right now...
Title: Spurs/Raptors Trade Post by: RaptorsGM on August 28, 2005, 01:26:49 PM No offense to the Spurs, but I can't really see them finishing any better than 5th last next year.
I know that my team is not going to compete for a Championship this year, so I really have to start to build for the future. Cato and Rasho will share time at PF, and I will look to trade Cato for an expiring contract either at the deadline or next. I plan on having Yao, Deng, a high lotto pick (with the Spurs pick next year), Lovelette and possibly Springs under contract next season....with about 13 million in cap space in the biggest FA class ever in SSBA. The Spurs pick will likely help me to land a starting PG to replace Baron. Then I will have a starting SG, starting PG, starting SF and starting C with 13 mil to spend on a PF...the same year KG, Odom, Brand, Chandler, Wallace, Brown, Griffin, Ferry and Houbergs are FAs. Raps, you might be disappointed with that pick next year, because the Spurs are looking pretty damn good right now... I really don't think so. Thomas/Mihm is an average, if not slightly below average frontcourt...Chase Russell is good offensivly but weak defensivly...same with Parker. I don't expect the Spurs pick to be number 1 like it was last year, but at least top 7-8. Title: Spurs/Raptors Trade Post by: CavsGM on August 28, 2005, 01:30:01 PM I'll be shocked if it's any higher then 10...
Title: Spurs/Raptors Trade Post by: RaptorsGM on August 28, 2005, 01:31:33 PM I just that teams like the Cavs, Knicks and Hawks have gotten alot better while the Spurs have held pat.
Title: Spurs/Raptors Trade Post by: MavsGM on August 28, 2005, 01:35:07 PM This trade won't work cuz Spurs doesn't have their 2011 first pick.

They still have a 2010 1st remaining... Title: Spurs/Raptors Trade Post by: RaptorsGM on August 28, 2005, 01:39:18 PM Yeah, they also have the Hawks 2010 first.
Title: Spurs/Raptors Trade Post by: MavsGM on August 28, 2005, 01:40:18 PM Oh, nevermind then, still I would trade the Hawks pick then Spurs. Mostly likely in the lotto since Warriors and Sonics improved as well as other west teams.

Title: Spurs/Raptors Trade Post by: NetsGM on August 28, 2005, 08:20:40 PM IMO a definite step back for the Raptors, which I like. And Spurs can now experiment and see who they like at pf and who at center. Wouldn't expect that pick to be higher than 8, and I doubt you replace Mihm at 8.
Key to the spurs season, IMO, is if russell improves. If his defense improves, a lineup of mihm/thomas/russell/arenas/parker could contend for the playoffs. Title: Spurs/Raptors Trade Post by: MagicGM on August 28, 2005, 08:29:16 PM jeez, still no change... :D
Title: Spurs/Raptors Trade Post by: BucksGM on August 28, 2005, 08:33:24 PM Mihm is a C+/A-/A- 4. Those are hardly irreplaceable. The dropoff between Mihm and Cato is marginal at most in my opinion.
I don't think this is much of a step back for the Raptors. I could also see the Spurs pick being Top 5 (the offense is still not there). Even the 8th pick this year was Schmaltz, which would be a suitable replacement for Mihm this season. Title: Spurs/Raptors Trade Post by: NetsGM on August 28, 2005, 08:46:19 PM there are 13 players with A- or better defense and A- or better rebounding. Considering that's for 2 positions, there's less than 7 per position.
tough to replace. The difference from A- A- defense/rebounding to B- B-, IMO, is substantial. Cato had his chance to start for the Nuggets, played well, but not Mihm level. Title: Spurs/Raptors Trade Post by: SpursGM-old on August 28, 2005, 09:32:48 PM Bucks: As far as my offense not being there in the last 2 sims (after Thomas found his role) the Spurs shot 47.9% and 45.2% from the field. From the arc: 55.0% and 46.8%. Also I averaged 99.7 points in those last 13 games.
I didn't obtain Thomas until the tradeeadline...and really didn't find his role until sim 11. What hurt me the most in the last 2 sims was my opponents got to the FT line over 30 times a game (and that I played a lot of playoff teams on the road). Most of the FTs were from the PF position where Nesterovic averaged over 4 fouls per game. He is a much better defender in the low post at C. However Thomas is also better at the C position defensively. Mihm averages less fouls and more blocks while holding opponents to a lower FG%. Mihm also creates more fouls by his opponent and shoots far better from the line than Nesterovic. In short Mihm gives me a lot more athletic and dependable defender at the 4 spot and can hit a FT if put on the line. Title: Spurs/Raptors Trade Post by: RaptorsGM on August 28, 2005, 10:05:30 PM Mihm is very easy to replace on a team that already has Yao Ming.
Mihm's defense is overrated. Much like Peja's is underrated. I don't really need all that much rebouding at PF, what with Yao at C. A good rebounder at the 4 is only going to steal rebounds from Yao. This deal has given me a ton of flexibility, and that's what I want. I've stayed with the same lineup for 2 straight years, been bored as hell without ever talking trades, and it was time to shake things up.
