Title: Cavs/Suns Trade Post by: CavsGM on August 23, 2005, 04:48:05 PM Brent Barry
Suns 2009 1st rounder for Sonics 2009 1st rounder Suns 2010 2nd rounder *Trade does not go through if the Sonics pick is top 3. Title: Cavs/Suns Trade Post by: SunsGM on August 23, 2005, 04:48:51 PM i agree, based upon the conditions posted above
Title: Cavs/Suns Trade Post by: KingsGM-old on August 23, 2005, 05:23:06 PM Are we allowed to do that?
Title: Cavs/Suns Trade Post by: CavsGM on August 23, 2005, 05:38:47 PM I don't see what the problem would be. If the Sonics 1st round pick ends up being one of the top 3, then the trade is simply skipped and forgotten about.
Title: Cavs/Suns Trade Post by: KingsGM-old on August 23, 2005, 05:43:14 PM But why hurry then? You could do this after the draft order, right?
Title: Cavs/Suns Trade Post by: CavsGM on August 23, 2005, 05:47:36 PM We could. But from my side, it wouldn't make a difference to me as I'd have to re-sign Barry beforehand either way. So I might as well have it agreed upon now. I would completely understand if we can't do the deal because of that condition, the pick being top 3. But if we wait until after the draft order is announced to post the trade, and the pick is like # 9 or 10 but the Suns just changes his mind, then that's a different story... :)
Title: Cavs/Suns Trade Post by: HawksGM on August 23, 2005, 06:01:51 PM i know we aren't allowed to put conditions on draft picks, but the order will be out before the deal can be processed anyway so it doesn't really matter
Title: Cavs/Suns Trade Post by: CavsGM on August 23, 2005, 06:21:21 PM Right, but this is just so that the trade has been agreed upon and is ready to go. In the unlikely scenario in which the pick ends up top three, this trade will just be passed up on. No big deal.
Title: Cavs/Suns Trade Post by: NetsGM on August 23, 2005, 06:24:19 PM typical, conditions aren't allowed. With the one exception being right before and during the current draft.
For example, if that was for the Sonics 2010 first round pick top 3 protected, that we don't do, because it's a bookkeeping nightmare and influences what picks are tradable in the future. Title: Cavs/Suns Trade Post by: BucksGM on August 23, 2005, 06:24:31 PM to avoid that problem you both probably could have PMed Bods with that condition anyway.
of course, i don't think anybody really cares about the conditions of the deal since they're sensible. |
