Title: Marc Jackson traded
Post by: NetsGM on August 09, 2005, 06:41:18 PM
for nets 2nd round pick.  We get a trade exception worth MJax's contract for 1 year.  Does this mean we don't cut McKie, and sign Hunter?

They better sign Hunter now that Mjax is gone.

He was not traded. He was given to the divison rival. If BK doesn't make move pretty soon then this is absurd as it gets and he needs to be fired.

Well he could score. That was it. But Mr 2 inch vertical leap I don't rebound or defend had to go. So, out with the old and in with the new...

Sixers better hire me as their GM.

I like the trade actually.

Now we can trade Mash and the trade exception together and take on a big name player.

Plus, an extra 2nd rounder never hurt. Wonder what the conditions are on it?

Who the heck would do a mash and the trade exception for a big name player?

IMO, like BK said, this trade gives sixers the flexibility to do future moves. Such as FA signings (MLE and LLE), and maybe some trades. We'll most likely see Steven Hunter sign with the sixers.

Could be Finley...  Mavs have talked about moving him out of the Western conference, and they would rather trade him then cut his salary under the amnesty rule...  Also keeps him from the Suns...

If Snider was reluctant to add salary via the MLE, then they're probably not going to OK adding Finley's contract.

I liked Marc a lot, but we definitely need more athleticism up front. Hunter would be a good fit, as would Ratliff (although I don't see that happening.)

I asked myself the same type of thing after the Cwebb trade last year.

Well, C-webb for me, is damage goods. I hope he proves me wrong this season. And we didnt acquire him easily, we give up a double double machine in KT, a very solid C who is good rebounder and shotblocker in Skinner and a solid SF player in Williamson.

IMO, the proposed trade exception and J-mash contract's value isnt as high as the package we give for C-webb.

C Webb played exceptional basketball last year for Sacto.

Our stupid Obie system killed him.

Watch C Webb to return to a 20-10 player this year.

I'd just be happy if he could stay in front of a guy on defense. I don't want to watch the "Ole!" defense anymore.

I think the knee, while not 100%, will be better.

He's still not a good defender, but well, I think we're gonna win this year.
