Title: Cavs/Celtics Trade Post by: GoldenStateGM on August 09, 2005, 08:42:10 AM Well, Cleveland now has about 11 million is salaries for next year.
Like this from a talent perspective for the Celtics. Miller is a nice player, although the Celts now have 3 decent to good PG's on the roster, Miller, Van Exel, and Bailey Snow... For Cleveland, they get the cap space, already have a replacement for Miller in Ward on the roster, and get a future pick. Works for both teams, I would say... Title: Cavs/Celtics Trade Post by: CelticsGM on August 09, 2005, 08:55:43 AM ok, the reasoning:
I get a very very good PG in Miller that can shut down opponents and direct my offense right away (and I mean right away as in probably sim 11, as every team needs CHEMISTRY which has to develop first). Snow IS my PG of the future, no doubt, but his growing pains cost me some games already and now I have the flexibility to let him learn from one of the better guards. I know there is that TO thing that has to be resolved, but I hope to have/find a solution for that problem as well ... And I strongly believe that Miller can make one of the better reserves for as long as his contract runs. What do I give up: Cap flexibility. This is a virtual numbers since I have to resign numerous young studs in the next 3 seasons (beginning with Darko and AJ this offseason) and will be capped out anyway. The 2011 first: If this is still a lotto pick, I'll have to kick myself in the behind - not for giving up the pick, but for being a bad GM ... MoPete: That'll hurt most in the short run as he was an integral part of my team defense, a great backup and borderline starter and a wonderful lockerroom guy no less. I'll really miss him ... but he wasn't really in my plans for the future. So what's ahead: Playoffs. Anything less would be "major disappointing" now. And this was another small step towards the ultimate goal of every team ... 8) Title: Cavs/Celtics Trade Post by: KingsGM-old on August 09, 2005, 12:47:11 PM I hope the Celtics will make the playoffs with this trade...

Title: Cavs/Celtics Trade Post by: CelticsGM on August 09, 2005, 03:07:04 PM Quote from: MavsGM Mo Pete traded again. But believe me, I was hoping for him to be a Celtic forever, he did everything I asked for and way more ... ... but being the most expendable expiring, he was the unfortunate to go ! Title: Cavs/Celtics Trade Post by: CavsGM on August 09, 2005, 06:20:27 PM Now have 87 1st round pick, approximately, and as much cap space that a GM can ask for. Just hoping for some good players to slip to free agency, and I'll take care of the rest...
