Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: CelticsGM on August 04, 2005, 05:28:07 PM So here starts the tough section of this season for the Celtics. 12 of the next 14 on the road. But although my 9-10 road record is better than the 12-15 home debacle I'm not overly optimistic my playoff push can continue ..
What has to happen: Curry has to continue dominating (funny to write that in the same sentence as "Curry" - but he outscored, outrebounded and outshot opponents recently) at both ends of the floor. Jeffersons emergence will have to accompany Radmans returning shooting. Van Exel will have to defend like hell and Snow get the ball to everyone. Will that happen? Probably not, but dreaming is allowed ... 8) Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: RaptorsGM on August 04, 2005, 05:30:55 PM I have no idea what to expect after this last sim.
I'm hoping for a nice little 6-1. 5-2 would be nice. Another 3-4 and things will have to change. I. Do. Not. Tolerate. Losing. Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: WolvesGM on August 04, 2005, 05:59:29 PM The new guy has been mediocre the last 2 sims going 3-3 and 5-5 and is 10-14 as the WizardsGM. As the new GM I've made a couple changes to this team including trading for Iverson. Allen and Amare haven't been the 1-2 punch I was hoping for when I got Iverson so for this sim, I've decided to test out Iverson at the PG position.
For my 4th sim, I have 7games and hoping to have a more then mediocre sim. Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: GoldenStateGM on August 04, 2005, 11:01:23 PM Well, some tough competition this sim... A real test of adding Cardinal and Bellamy into my rotation. Worried about the Cardinal AK47 matchup... that should be pretty ugly... lol
6 of 8 at home... 6-2 would be nice, and possibly way too optimistic... I would like to see at least 5-3 from this sim, though. Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: HawksGM on August 05, 2005, 12:15:48 AM A 1 win sim but I'm trying to be optimistic. JDN, Schenk and Ivan all had very good #'s. JDN shoots for a real good percentage while Ivan had many double double's. Schenk had his best sim of the season but way too late.
Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: RaptorsGM on August 05, 2005, 12:24:28 AM Ahhhh....that's more like it. Nice little 6-1 sim.
Yao still really struggled (dropped .7 ppg in that sim alone), but I don't care, as long as I'm winning. Increased my lead to 8 games in the East. That's pretty amazing. Shooting 47% from the floor, next best is 45.7%. That's pretty amazing too. Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: WolvesGM on August 05, 2005, 12:26:48 AM Sorry to be an impatient lil kid, but when's this sim coming?
Should i bother checking if the sim's up tonight or should I jus wait for it tomorrow? Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: SonicsGM on August 05, 2005, 01:05:08 AM Unbelievable. The Zydrunas trade doesn't go through, so I drop all five games this sim!
Argh. Now I am one game below .500. Zydrunas better get here soon...I need his inside presence. Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: JazzGM-old on August 05, 2005, 02:30:21 AM Woohoo, Shabinger notched in his first triple double, 10 pts, 10 rbds, 10 assists, 4 steals...makes me wonder how his numbers may be if he had been a starter for the whole season. Kirilenko found his groove this sim as well and found a way to put some points on the board. I'm riding pretty comfortable, I think it'll be very hard to match last season, but I'm liking how I can still be excited for some seasons to come :-P.
Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: MagicGM on August 05, 2005, 06:06:53 AM I went 6-2. Had a couple of nice performances. Kidd topped thw whole sim by ending it with 2 triple-doubles on 2 consecutive nights.
Josh Howard had a 17rebound performance Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: KingsGM-old on August 05, 2005, 06:26:07 AM I just love this team. Just awesome. Went 4 - 2 without 2 of my starters, James and Marbury both missed this sim. Incredible. This team is ready for the big stage.
Louisetti is just fantastic, this kid is unbelivable all round talent. Some of his best games this sim: vs Rockets: 12pts, 9as, 8reb vs Blazers: 10pts, 8as, 4reb vs Nuggets: 10pts, 9as, 9reb vs Nets: 13pts, 7as, 3reb Almost beat the Nets without James and Marbury. I know now i can play with the best of them. Tmac was pretty angry vs Nuggets cause Vince killed him last 2 times so he droped 40 along with 11 as and 5 steals. Gooden had his best game so far for me vs Nuggets also as he droped 33 and 7 boards. Even Austin Chroshere contributed pretty nicely: vs Nuggets: 10pts, 7reb vs Spurs: 7pts, 11reb Jerome Moiso is just steady as usual: vs Nets: 6pts, 3bl, 13reb vs Grizzlies: 14pts, 4as, 5reb vs Nuggets: 12pts, 4reb And Mcgrady is just playing out of his mind right now: vs Nets: 32pts, 4st, 5as, 7reb vs Grizzlies: 37pts, 6as, 6reb vs Nuggets: 40pts, 11reb, 5ste vs Blazers: 30pts vs Spurs: 36pts, 10reb Win of the Sim - Blasted the Nuggets by 30 without Marbury and James. They were without Camby also but still it's a huge W. 3rd in a row against one of the best teams in the West. Overall 4th best record in the league and within the reach of the first place in Western Conference. The question is, when healthy and in full strenght, can this team make it to the Finals? I hope so. Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: PacersGM on August 05, 2005, 06:34:01 AM solid sim again. won´t catch the raptors but will try to gain homecourt adv. for the first round.
JO earned player of the week and month honors and he deserved it. Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: KingsGM-old on August 05, 2005, 07:06:29 AM I can't recall it when i had a such a hot streak ever. 19 - 6 in the last 25 games with couple of major injuries. :D
Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: NetsGM on August 05, 2005, 07:46:56 AM Quote from: WizardsGM Am i crazy? or is my sim page not showing up? Should i be worried? :?: Your page is updated. You might need to refresh the page. Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: GoldenStateGM on August 05, 2005, 08:52:02 AM 5-3 sim, about what was expected...
Cardinal is doing a fine job on the offensive end of the court, averaging 17 ppg and 8 rpg as a non-option player at the SF spot. Additionally, he is doing a decent job at defending as well. Much better then I expected, actually... Swift came close to a triple double, One block shy against the Celtics. In that game, he also broke the Warriors record for Blocks in a single game... Congratulations Stromile!!! Title: sdasd Post by: HeatGM on August 05, 2005, 09:27:26 AM went 5-3... my first positive sim in a long while...if this stays consistent then i still have a shot for the playoffs if not then this is the first time in SSBA history that i would miss the playoffs....
Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: CelticsGM on August 05, 2005, 10:20:21 AM i'm really really happy. My forth winning sim among the last 5, again barely at 4-3 (but with 5 road games).
my highlights: - Eddy being (his version of) unstoppable, taking care of Emeka and then holding opponents to about 35ppg (but still I win as opponents apparently are too concerned with shooting agains Curry) - Van Exel proved being not only a capable offensive option (13/5/3 with 2stl on 53% shooting) but held opponents to a low % too. - and, again, the play of the backups : Kaman returned to form just in time (7/7 in 17mpg), Darko surprised me big time (9/6/2stl/1bk/0.9TOs) and Geiger shooting 60%. my lowlights: - Radmanovic is still in his current shooting woes: 12ppg on 33% shooting doesn't make it (though the 7 caroms are nice). - Snow giving me just 5 dishes (but again, 12ppg on 47% are nice, too) - Al Jefferson continues his low shooting % but provides 13ppg (meaning he gets up a ton of shots, more than anyone else, without being off. focus) and 2.4 blks So I'm still in playoff contention in the East, currently holding the 9th spot, just one game out of the big dance. So with many more road games coming up, I'm still hanging around. Now isn't it nice to prove those GMotY votes were not completely wrong ... Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: OldNuggetsGM on August 05, 2005, 10:27:52 AM Went 5-4, a bit disappointing. But I lost Camby for 5 games (plus 2 more in sim 9) and then I lost Drobnjak for a game and a half (plus 5 more games in sim 9), leaving me a frontcourt of Pachulia and Gadzuric. That's what I'll have to face the Spurs and Warriors with to start off the next sim. Not good.
Anyway, Boykins seemed to have an unusually subpar sim, as did Posey (except for one game where he exploded for 34 with 5-5 shooting from downtown). I did beat the Nets and Raptors though, so that's good. Somehow, I took out the Nets w/o Camby or Drobnjak and with Pachulia logging 46 minutes. Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: GoldenStateGM on August 05, 2005, 10:50:16 AM Quote from: NuggetsGM leaving me a frontcourt of Pachulia and Gadzuric. Me = 103.2 ppg, 44.8% shooting, 45.9% 3pt Opp = 94 ppg, 41% shooting, 47% 3pt (eww, but they didn't make many). And, for once, I kept my turnovers in line, having 2.6 less than my opponents. Pettit was simply amazing. He dropped 55 on the Wolves (first time over 50, a nets team record). 33 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 4.9 apg, 2.5 spg, 49.5% shooting, 46.5% 3pt (4 makes/game), 96.4% ft. Chauncey chipped in 19 ppg and 7.5 apg, with 1.6 steals and great percentages (45% fg, 44% 3pt) Shane had one of his better sims. nearly 8 pts, 5.6 boards, 1.7 steals and 0.7 turnovers on 44.5% shooting, 60% from 3pt. Okafor was a little down this sim. 17.3 pts, 13.4 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.7 spg, 2.6 bpg, only 38% shooting. Of course, C's only shot 38% as well against him. Dalembert was a stud defensively, holding starting pf's to 34.9% shooting. also chipped in 10 boards and 4.6 blocks per. Light next sim. Only heat, celtics, hawks and warriors. Back in first place. Congrats to Pettit for his second career player of the week. Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: WolvesGM on August 05, 2005, 12:00:57 PM Had a GREAT sim, for me atleast. Went 5-2 only losing to the Nets and Raptors and Amare was injured for a couple games. Was one of my best sim but.... Sheed's out for 22days and Fortson... depression?!? PROZAC! 65days...

I hadn't even noticed that Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: SpursGM-old on August 05, 2005, 01:17:12 PM When you're at the bottom you don't look as much at record as other little things.
Arenas exploded on the scene for the Spurs...scoring 46 & 40 in his first two games. For the sim he averaged 28.25 pts (50+% FG%), 6.38 rebs, 4.75 assts and 2.75 stls. But on the downside he will probably cost Russell the ROY award as they are very similar in what they bring to the game. I now have solid young starters at the PG, SG & SF spots...Parker, Arenas & Russell. Any one of them is capable of putting up 15-5-5 on any night. Now they need to find how to feed off of each other to maximize their skills. Rebounding is still a major concern....Mikan helps considerably when he plays significant minutes but can't hit the ocean from the shoreline when the ball is in his hands. Hobson is the better defender & scorer but can't grab a rebound unless it falls into his lap. Both are 25 and hopefully one will improve in the next TC. All in all I am happy with the progress my team has made. Shooting % is up from the start of the year, TO are down, opponent FG% is down. And when I look at the split between the top teams and the others I have made large strides. Sim 1-6 vs top 13 teams 2-16 (both wins against injury plagued teams) Sim 7-8 vs top 13 teams 1-6 (beat the Clips this last sim) Sim 1-6 vs other 15 teams 7-12 Sim 7-8 vs other 15 teams 6-3 Like I said it is the little things when you are at the bottom. The 5 year plan continues..... Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: BucksGM on August 05, 2005, 07:41:00 PM a ho hum 3-4, not too surprising given the road games.
Still holding onto 8th and Cleveland's pick is now Top 5, so an acceptable sim for me. Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: HawksGM on August 06, 2005, 04:00:10 PM 2 of my main building blocks played very well for me this sim.
Ivan Strong had his best sim of his rookie season averaging 13 and 9.5. Hopefully next season he'll average a double double. Jamal Del Negro really answered some of my questions as he averaged 15 and 4.1 rebs. I think he and Ivan could be a big time 1-2 punch if they both improve in TC. Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: JazzGM-old on August 06, 2005, 05:08:36 PM Quote from: SpursGM But on the downside he will probably cost Russell the ROY award as they are very similar in what they bring to the game. When Shabinger has been starting, he won Rookie of the Month, the sims that Daniels was starting, Russell got Rookie of the Month :). Have to admit you made the necessary corrections now since the last two sims were good WITH Schabi (and courtecy of a more favourable schedule) 8) Title: Sim 8 discussion Post by: JazzGM-old on August 06, 2005, 06:31:09 PM very true, but it shows what the potential Shabi has for future years and he did really cut down on his TOs the 2nd half of the season. Russell is also the Spurs' first option as Shabi is my 3rd. I will still probably put the veteran in for playoffs, however.
