Title: Sim 2 Discussion!!
Post by: SunsGM on July 21, 2005, 06:20:15 AM
I'm hopeing for a 5-3 sim, but i'll probally have to settle for 4-4

tough games

@Nets
@Clippers
@TWolves

but i have the Blazers and Celtics

and toss up games with the Bucks and Memphis.

Hopefully Martin and Havlicek can keep up their good play and i get a little more of a contribution from Diddle.

7 games this sim, 4 at home, and 3 on the road.  Really tough group, though.
Home games vs. the Wolves, Mavs, Bulls, and Grizzlies
Away Games vs.  the Rockets, Nuggets, and Magic.

Would like a 5-2 sim, but truly hoping for a 4-3 sim.

Hoping Araujo maintains his excellent play, as well as Swift.  Hoping Hinrich's shooting percentages will recover a bit this sim.

It will be great - although I think maybe the passing of the torch already happened in last year's first round when Yao got like 30/13 on Shaq, and held him to 13/8 or something like that.

First extended west coast trip for the Celtics.

After a home game with the Spurs its off to Bucks, Kings, Sonics, Suns. A home date with the Grizz rounds out the week.

So after getting killed at SG last week I face another trio of superstars there in Kobe, TMac and JRich. Gotta find a way to stop theses to have a chance for more than one W ...

Realistically I might steal one somewhere and go 2-4.

They only shot 55.6% against you, 61.9% from 3pt range...

Of course, starters did shoot 62%, 81.3% from 3 pt range.

Dang, you got absolutely destroyed.

Of course, I played Ray Allen (who went off on many before), Maggette and the Raps three times (where House simply got MANY open looks next to Yao, Peja and Davis).

The others were kept in check scoring wise pretty good and lots of forced TOs too.

depending on how certain players perform with my new rotation (i have 9 games for them to figure it out) there may be a move or two by the Jazz.

Title: Sim 2 Discussion!!
Post by: NetsGM on July 21, 2005, 03:26:54 PM
Dang, I didn't notice this, but look at Trenton Lo's stats extrapolated out to a 35 minute average:
10.7 ppg, 12.3 rpg, 2.6 spg, 3.7 bpg

and he's made 100% of his free throws!  (a blessing in my frontcourt).

I need to get him more minutes.

Title: Sim 2 Discussion!!
Post by: GoldenStateGM on July 21, 2005, 03:45:16 PM
Lol...  That is as the 4th big man in your rotation...
Heck, Big Jake in 35mpg is worth 15 ppg, 10rpg, and 3 bpg...
Might not hold up in a starting position, but still quite pleased with his performance as my 3rd center.

BTW, really excited by this sim.  This sim probably tells me were I stand in the Western conference, since I play 5 or 6 playoff teams in these 7 games...

I have 8 games this sim, all 8 at home, which is a scheduling quirk I've never seen before.

If I'm a playoff team like Dabods predicted, I have to win at least 5 of these.    I'll have started the season with 11 of my first 13 at home.

Bulls @ Bucks
Celtics @ Bucks
Supersonics @ Bucks
Jazz @ Bucks
Suns @ Bucks
Pacers @ Bucks
Heat @ Bucks

6-1 sim.  Scoring improved dramatically (from 3rd worst in the league to 12th best.  +15 teams in 1 sim.

Looks like both Chris Mihm and Samuel Dalembert are suffering from playing next to 2 of the 3 best rebounders in the league.  Both running at around the 10.5 mark (happens when Emeka grabs 15 and Mihm 16 per game).

Sammy's been having a little bit of trouble staying on the court.  Part fouls.  Part tempo.  Part really good depth (Dial and Lo have been FANTASTIC).

Pettit was amazing.  Don't have the exact numbers, but went from 23 ppg to 27 ppg, and his 3pt % skyrocketed.

Points Scored:
113
108
100
102
103
114
94

Nice wins against the Wizards, @ Mavs, and @ Hornets.

Araujo is a beast, now averaging 32 ppg and 13 rpg.
Hinrich is shooting better...  and he is feeding Gasol like crazy, with his 11.6 apg...
Very happy with team's performance so far...

So anyway, went 6-1. Alot of stats took major hits such as Mihm's, but hte team kept winning, and that's all that matters.

Beat the Wiz by 34 points, behind Yao's 40/19. Then lost to the Hornets, while Yao had his worst game by far (only 13 FGA, 18/10).

Won vs the Jazz behind Yao's 30/21. Yao KILLED the Cavs with 47/21. Damn, son.

Yao was slowed again by the Hornets (31 and 11), but Peja had his way with Marion, going for 39 on 16-25.

Got by the Sonics by 8, Yao had a triple double with 35 points, 14 rebounds and 12 TURNOVERS. WOW!! He doesn't turn it over all that much.

He came close to an actual trip-dub the next night with 28 points, 14 rebounds, 9 blocks, 6 assists.

A 3-3 sim. Not bad, but I hope that the team can soon step forward ahead of this mediocrity, like I know they're capable of. Here are a few observations...

-Ethan Fletcher is amazing. He is kicking ass of the bench, averaging 14 and 7 in 25 MPG. Looks like a keeper, that's for sure...
-Odom is starting to step up his game, but still not to the level that I would like him to be at. Too much inconsistency. He puts up great games, and then games where he shoots terribly and fails to hit double digit points. It's still not clear, however, as to whether or not he will be traded...

A semi-dissappointing sim for the Sonics.

3-4, with weird results.

First off, the loss to the Celtics really hurts.  They clamped down and held me to under 70 points.  Ouch.

Secondly, we only lost to the Raps by 9, with Nick English finishing with a rebound short of his first career triple double and Nick Collison dropping 21/14.  Yao, also, turned the ball over 12 times!

The loss to the Blazers was tough too, I can't believe that the Blazers and Celtics (who I, by the way, joking called SSBA Finalists this year) beat me pretty handily.

Now for the good:

Beat the Rockets, behind Nick Collison (23/15), and the Pacers convincingly.

Trent Kundla is still leading the SSBA with 3.1 Steals per game.

Still above .500 (8-7), and looking for a run in sim three.[/i]

but this is only the second sim, you have a winning record, and this is the 2nd or 3rd post you've had complaining about your team, you should really come off the ledge. i dont think its that bad for your team yet :D

Positives:

- Mercer bounced back from injury.  Now averaging 20/8/3 with 3 to's, he's shooting amazing (57%, 82%, 52%)

- Griffin, Hoiberg, Traylor had great weeks

- Lost some close games: 7 to the Warriors, 4 to the Pacers, 8 to the Clippers, 3 to the Pacers, 7 to the Bucks

NEGATIVES

Everything else.  Sorry about getting on my little soap box, but its just so damn frustrating.  If I was losing because of my crappy team (like in my first season) that would be cool, but getting constant injuries is really frustrating.  All I want is 2 freakin sims without one of my stars going down, thats all I ask

I didnt have my complete roster. Gino was out for 7 games.

Alright, stats breakdown time.

The guy who played the most minutes per game for me this sim is....John Salmons.  Who contributed a measely 3.9 ppg.  I'll give him props for his 6 rpg, 1.85 assists, 1.2 steals to only 0.7 turnovers though.  Tremendous ratios.

And his defense has been STAGGERING!  Opposing starting SF's shot 38.8% against him this sim, 16.6% from downtown.  That's incredible.

Pettit was...well, what can you say?  Amazing.  30.5 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 3.7 apg, 2.5 spg to only 2.2 topg.  47.3% shooting, 44.4% from downtown, didn't miss a free throw.

Okafor....well, played like one of the best second banannas in the game.  Was really worried this shift to outside focus might hurt him.  Not the case.  21.5 ppg, 13.8 rpg, 2.4 apg, 3.7 bpg, 48.3% shooting.  Still can't hit a ft though (59%).  Opposing C's shot 30.2% against him.  On a per 35 minute basis:
Okafor: 19.8 ppg, 12.7 rpg, 3.4 bpg, 48% shooting
Opp C's: 8.9 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 1.8 bpg, 30.2% shooting.

That's domination at both ends of the court.  Sheer domination defensively.  He's working for that DPOY.  Oh yeah, and he can drop 22 ppg and grab 15 rpg.  Amazing.

Billups was great (17.7 ppg, 10.8 apg, only 2.2 topg, 44.4% shooting).  And surprisingly opposing pg's only shot 38.1% against him.

Dalembert didn't get much time (26.8 mpg).  still managed 4.1 bpg, and close to a double-double.  His per 35 minute stats were great (12.4 rpg, 11.5 rpg, 5.3 bpg).  His fouls weren't ridiculous.  I have to make sure he gets ample time.

Dial had 6.3 and 7 in 20 minutes off the bench.  That's great.  He and Lo, while not getting great minutes, have been big boosts.

Overall:
104.8 ppg (vs. 90.4)
54.7 rpg (vs. 52)
9.1 spg (vs. 7.8 )
10 bpg (vs. 4.8 )
12.7 topg (vs. 14.1)
46.8% shooting (vs. 40)
43.1% 3pt (vs. 37.1)

Very nice.

In my first sim with AI I go a mediocre 3-3.  The first game with Atlanta AI comes out and sets a new team record for points in a game with 48.  Over the 6 games he averaged 25 which is what I would want from him.  Gadz has been an absolute beast for me averaging 15/12/1 steal/3 blocks.  Gadz even held Timmy D to 17/8 in a losing effort.  Schenk continued his stellar play from the point.  Andre Igudala has actually been producing better than Tayshaun Prince off the bench which could lead to a starting lineup change there.  Also Ivan has impressed me.  2 double-doubles off the bench and he's scoring 8.5 in 17 minutes.  He could be special if his defense ever gets better.

Title: Sim 2 Discussion!!
Post by: BucksGM on July 22, 2005, 12:08:17 AM
6-2 is the best sim I've had in a long time, if not ever.

Donta Smith leading the league in FG%.
Tinsley coming up 1 board short of a triple double twice this sim.
Jason Collier putting up a few double doubles.
Jamal Sampson averaging almost 10 a game in 25 minutes.

I guess we'll see what the team's made of when I actually play on the road though.

nice sim 5-2 ....

three games without JO.
I lost two of them. with no real inside defense it was two times a shootout.

Artest is outplaying his counterparts at PG.
He faced two times Mercer, one time English, Bibby , Tinsley and Miller
and only lost once against Mercer the matchup
In the last sim the Pacers showed what real depth mean.

Artest avg. 14pts, 6rbs, 9ass, 2stls and only 2 TOs
Carmelo avg. 19pts, 5rbs, 3ass, 2stls and only 2 TOs
Redd avg. 16pts, 7rbs, 3ass, 1stls and only 1 TOs
Antwan avg. as a backup 10pts, 8rbs, 2ass, 1stls and 2 TOs
JO even with his injury still managed 20pts, 8rbs, 3ass, 1stls and only 1 TOs

Thats 5 guys avg. in double figures. Foster also avg a near double double with 9 and 12.

You could certainly make a very strong case for Hoffa.

But they're 2 entirely different people.  Hoffa's certainly the 2nd best center  offensively in the league.  But he'll never be the DPOY candidate Emeka is.  But then again, Emeka will most likely never score 30 ppg (although I think he could definitely do 25 some day, primarily if he was a #1 option).

Right now, IMO, Emeka almost has to be the defensive player of the year.  3rd in the league in rebounding, 1st in the league in blocks, opposing starting C's shooting 32% against him.  As a second option, I wouldn't trade 'Meka.

One of the more interesting things about Araujo...
in 11 games, only 4 centers have played over 28 minutes against him.
He fouls people out like crazy.  Fouled out both Biedrins and Wright against the Grizzlies...  And those centers that do play over 28 mpg are shooting 39% from the field.

And even though his fouls are high, he is still getting big minutes (36 mpg)
Getting Araujo more minutes with defensive protection was the whole point of the Gasol for Swift trade.  And it seems to be working.

Interesting.  Gatling is averaging 23 ppg.  great for a rookie.  But he's a defensive sieve, right?  Opposing sg's are shooting 37.8% against him so far on the year, 30% from downtown.

Gadz with 17/13 with 3.6 blocks this sim.  Held starting PF's to 38.5% (of course, he shot 37.8%, lol).

AI with 24.8, 5.6 rpg, 3.16 apg, 3.16 spg, 3.83 topg his first sim with the hawks.

gnobili with 15.5, 6.5, 4, 1.5 steals on 46.4% shooting, 50% from 3pt.

tanner with 11.3, 8.6, 3.14 blocks.

Schabinger not with near the a/to ratio I thought.  Much more of a scorer.

Although this is how my team started out last year, I went from 1st to 2nd to last in just one offseason and my team was better ratings wise! I'm working and reworking various DC's which I feel will spell the difference. Kirilenko has not been himself defensively which is surprising (Eschmeyer off the bench is my best defensive player!). I feel that the chemistry of my team is down with Shabinger. I'm just not used to having a scorer at the point (he had 28 and 29 points this sim as a 3rd option). I feel that Shabinger off the bench and Daniels as a starter will be a better bet. Daniels is much more efficient, scores but doesn't demand scoring to contribute. My team just functions much much better with him getting more minutes. I'm back to the starting lineup I won with last year which is supposedly improved from last year. My bench is also better IMO. If i was to still get a lottery pick with this team, I'd just say watch out for the Jazz in coming years.

8)  wonderful way to start my holidays ...

Celtics surprised me by

... first falling at home to the Spurs, which came out of nowhere
... consequently lost big at the Bucks
... only to get out west and win all three at Kings, Sonics and Suns.
... another homeloss (Grizzels) left me with a totally acceptable 3-3 sim.

The team defense is coming on, even the SG problems could be reduced (TMac still torched me, but he's TMac) and with some small adjustments I think I have something building here ...

and btw, i'm 2-5 at home and 4-3 on the road, still trying to figure THAT put ...
