Title: Conference Power Rankings
Post by: NetsGM on July 17, 2005, 07:54:03 PM
East:
1) Raptors
2) Nets
3) Hornets
4) Pacers
5) Magic
6) Bulls
7) Pistons
8.) Bucks (my surprise team this year).

West:
1) Jazz (great tc, great draft)
2) Mavs (I realize seeding can't be like this, just talking power rankings)
3) Clippers
4) Wolves
5) Warriors
6) Sonics
7) Suns
8.) Nuggets

Well, thanks.

I'm not so sure.

Thrilled with Yao, will be option #1.

Peja should be a fantastic 2nd option.

Wonder if Baron can handle being the 3rd option ALONE this year, as I expect Mihm's offense to suffer greatly.

But hey...wonder where Springs would have went in the draft with his current ratings. That was a great, great pick for me.

Yao might be the best player in the league.  that alone got you the ranking.  and the fact that nobody else, IMO, is ready to challenge.  Although the magic might be close.  howard and kidd are beasts.

I don't know how much I like it at the top, the mavs might still have me edged out, but now the pressure is on me to continue winning which is sometimes harder than trying to climb the ladder.

Yeah, I was pretty happy with his TC.

But now at the 2/3 my defense is only B- B+. That could be a problem.

i think the wizards should be a top 5 team and i am not so sure if the pistons are better than cavs and sixers

the wolves should be number one imo they had a great FA/Draft and should be the team to beat this year. But maybe gatling is really like AI and will shoot more than pass. the sonics aren´t ready for a PO run imo.
i believe the grizz and the kings will keep them out.

i don´t think so. it is just that you are playing with the same team now for many years and every year you had troubles to reach the POs.

And yeah, the Wiz should probably  be in there.  His inactivity (and subsequent loss of Chamberlain) hurt though.

In three years, there have been six different conference champs.  Not even a repeat there....

Jazz
Pacers
Grizzlies
Pistons
Heat
Supersonics

Talk about parody.

Not "parody", "Parity".

And I'm not laughing at you - trust me - I made that same mistake for 3 years :)

"Parody" is a type of Shakespere play :)

I can't believe that I wrote that.  Yes, you are correct...parity.  Anyways, look for a new pair of finalists....

...celtics vs trailblazers...

Love the idea....
I think the Clippers are going far this year.  Childress is one his way to being a top 5 SF, Gordon is incredible, and the three headed monster of Chandler, Brand, and Kwame is really good...

first time for everything, and I very much overachieved last season and this was supposed to be my year as it is. My team is built exactly how I like it.

East:

8.) Bucks (my surprise team this year).

Dabods - My surprise prognostication this year.

Although I guess with Donta Smith improving offense/defense, Collier improving defense/rebounding and Harpring improving defense, 3 of my starters having good TCs is a step in the right direction.

Thanks WarriorsGM. And you did not even talk about Maggette.
But I know it will be very difficult. I think I will have to battle with Utah, Golden State and Dallas for that finals spot. Also Minnesota will be good.

Utah, of course, the defending champs with the one of the best TC's in the league.  Be interesting to see how AK's drop in rebounding changes the team.
Dallas will finally be playing Nowitzki at his natural PF spot, making him the best offensive player in the game, imo, especially with his inside jump to A-.  Damp dropped to an A- defender this year, but Dallas has more offense on their roster then any team in the league.
Minnesota looks great 1-4...  Alston, Gatling, KVH, KG, with Flip as a back-up now, incredible scoring in that lineup.  Have to see how their center situation works out.
