Unsure if I was going to be able to sign a big deal this year, I only offered Smith a one-year deal hoping to save salary for next year.

Collison will start immediately between Deng and Finley, and he will probably receive a second or third scoring option.

I love the Lovelette signing by the Raps.  Not much of a salary offer for a player who can shoot and defend.  Oh yeah, he also has potential to improve!

I mean, I re-signed Battier for a year.  So it's not a catastriphe.  But my goal was to offer Battier 7 mil, then Mikel Chamberlain the remaining 3.1 or so for a 6 year deal with max raises.

He ended up taking the MLE :(  Over both my and the spurs long-term deal.

Major bummer.

Pacers got their man.  Very big for them.  Dunleavy signed a max deal, we'll see if he lives up to it.  

Collision a near max deal as well, same with him, although he had higher offers, including from his prior team.

So Collison signed with a different team, for less, money, and a team that was already overloaded at the PF spot?

Actually, since he signed before Smith, I only had a rookie on the roster at the PF position.  I don't know why he took less though.  Interesting.

Ruffin for LLE was solid, I actually offered him MLE.  I got Dixon, he has nice ratings but is sort of a tweener.  He had good stats givin his minutes, so should be a solid backup

Man, I REALLY wanted Chamberlain. I knew I should have offered him a starting salary of higher than the MLE. But I didn't want to risk losing Battier (and I was worried someone might over him more than 5.5 mil).

Ah well, I was going to offer Battier a longterm deal (which probably would have locked him up for a shorter initial investment, and might have gotten me chamberlain), but now I only have around 29 million in comitted salary for next year, and that's including my draft picks.

The Pistons new starting lineup now has 4 players with an A- offesnive rating...If they can rebound, they could be to top offensive team in the league...

Dang, I offered Cato more for one year than he's averaging over three years.

And my total offer for Collison was for more than what Sonics offered, although since my offer had the 7th year, the per-year average was a tad higher on Sonics' offer.  But still, the 6-year average was not high enough to offset my 7-year offer; at least, that's what I thought.  I considered offering him the max, and now really regret not doing so, but I really didn't think the package I offered would have been topped enough for him to not re-sign.

And I also offered Chamberlain the MLE; wonder why he signed with Sixers instead?

Just a terrible Day 1 of free agency for me; I really am totally mystified as to how things turned out.  Lots of scrambling now for Day 2.

Well, I offered Lovelette a 5yr deal starting at roughly 1.5mio and totalling 9.1mio. So I wonder he took a way worse Raptors offer considering his low loyalty and high greed.

Same offer was issued to Bee, but taking the MLE is understandable there.

so as mentioned before i do have now a logjam at SG/SF. i am very pleased that carmelo signed with my team. some very good signings on the first day and still some decent talent left i will target for the MLE. The eddie jones and chamberlain signings for the MLE are great imo.

Well i resign Bobby Jackson and Vitali Potapeno, both fillers for my Francis deal and with MLE i got Jerome Moiso. He was not at the top of my list but A- defense and B- rebs are nice off the bench...

THis year, there was an article after the draft about how Gerlad Green jumped for joy after being passed over by the Raps.

Jeff McInnis $5,400,000 1 year - Simply a trading piece. I dont have much need for him, but he will do ok if someone goes down with an injury...

This is a common mis interpretation.  No one wants to play for Toronto because WE SUCK.  Alot of players actually love Toronto (especially last years rookie class, if you watch 'Rookies' on Spike TV they even say that Toronto was one of their favorite places).  I specifically remember reading articles where Elton Brand, Okafor among others said Toronto was their favorite place to play (other than their own cities).  Caribana is immensely popular with players and celebrities, and I believe that many of the 'myths' surrounding Canada have been distinguished over the years.  If we were a winning team, I don't think getting FA's would be much of a problem.  Hopefully the Raps can turn it around by the next 2 years when we finally get our huge cap relief (with Jalen, Zo, etc coming off the books).

In the Vince glory days, we had (or thought we had) a good nucleas.  In the summer of 01 we wasted all our cap on AD, JYD and Alvin.  We also pryed away Hakeem from Houston and New York.  Even though Hakeen was FAR past his prime, I think that's saying alot.  Toronto's never really been in the ideal cap situation anyways

As for Green?  What ever, he's a high school kid with the IQ of a rock.  Honestly, if you heard him talk in an interview you would know what I'm talking about.  Again, I also think its because we are a losing team without a clear direction.  LA is one of the biggest markets in the NBA, and no one wanted to play for the Clippers in the 90's.  

As for Frye?  Please, I dont want another Loren Woods, imo he was the worst pick in the draft.

In Green's defence - when I was his age (last year), and all the cameras were on me - I would have been so nervous that I wouldn't have made any sense either  :lol:

But I got two young defensive minded swing men with A potential. Lavar Piatkowski and Don Ruffin. At least one of them should have a good tc. Both should get some playing time.

With the average age on my team being 23 and having 5 players with A potential... I am really looking forward to training camp. I hope it will not be a disappointment.

This offseason has been kind to me. TC will determine how kind, however. I definately played beyond myself last season and if Murphy improves, Booth stays the same, and my rookies improve, I have a optimistic chance of a repeat. Besides Kirilenko has yet to really break out to the point where he's had a player of the week or player of the month award and only last year tallied his first triple double.
