I think this makes sense for me because the positions I am targeting are pretty deep and I should be able to get a solid player there. Plus, the Hawks have historically been a lotto team, so I have a chance at 2 lotto picks next season.

yea, I wanted to get the top pick I could get to help my team out.  I am traditionally an lotto pick, but I SHOULD be a little over .500 this year, whether that translates to lotto or non-lotto I'm not sure

yea it is, but I think there is 5 players who can contribute right now out of this draft and I'm tired of not being in the playoff race so I want to get one of the 5 of like

very heavy price with all the young and good teams in the east your pick will be next year a lotto pick again. and to move up three spots isn´t it worth. Also no one can guess what the top 3 picks will be since two picks will be coming from POs teams. maybe they will draft for needs instead of best player available.

exactly, which means one of the best players available may fall to me at #5, because the Jazz and Wolves may pick for need, which means this deal makes even more sense.  But also looking at those 2 teams their needs are probably the BPA at the time they draft

I also don't think the east is that predictable, the Raptors will have the same great core, but if they don't make strides in TC the gap between the rest of the east and them will close.  The Nets have 4 players on their roster (all all-star's) but they will need a good FA period to maintain their dominance.  The Pacers are gonna be great but if they can't re-sign Melo they will need a good TC to return to the finals.  THe Magic, Sixers and Bulls will all still be good too.  I'm just saying that there are plenty of variables and making the prediction that I won't make the playoffs before the draft, FA and TC based on the rosters as of now is a little early

hmm maybe you are right.
as i see it at the moment the wolves will pick a SG, seatle a pf, utah a pg and portland will do their usual CPU pick or something like that. so you should get a player ready to contribute on your biggest need position.

I don't understand, it looks like SF is your biggest position of need...

it is but I don't really think anyone is better than Tayshaun or even that much better than Josh Smith, so I'm trying to see the options at 5 that can maybe heal a few of my positional needs

I've got some talent at the SF spot like Lenard, Pietrus or even Peterson and the C spot like Kaman and Duncan, so if yoou don't like the outcome of the draft I'm willing to trade someone if it fits an other need for me ...

just pick BPA and we'll see.
