Title: Sixers-Suns Trade - Waiting 91 Post by: CelticsGM on June 16, 2005, 03:00:10 AM :?
well, well, well. I'm not sure I like this trade from the Suns point of view at all. Sure they gid rid of an unfavourable contract in Rip who did little in return for all the bucks, but - they gave up one of their cornerstone young talents in Terp (who did very good since Kobe left) - took back a similar high contract in older James (albeit shorter) thus freeing up only 3mio cap space - who in addition plays the same position as the other young cornerstone Havlicek - and gave up on of the better backups in Glover for worse scrubs no, I don't think that deal benefits the Suns unless there's more to follow ... Sure they gid rid of an unfavourable contract in Rip who did little in return for all the bucks, but - they gave up one of their cornerstone young talents in Terp (who did very good since Kobe left) Mike James is a very good PG. He average about 13ppg, almost 5 rebounds, 7apg and 1.6spg for me when he was playing PG for my team. Now that he's playing out of position, he's still averaging 10ppg , 4.6rpg, 5.+ apg, and 1.6 spg. And rating wise, mike james also got the better end. Quote - took back a similar high contract in older James (albeit shorter) thus freeing up only 3mio cap space high but deserving and a shorter one. Quote - who in addition plays the same position as the other young cornerstone Havlicek He can play a james and havlicek backcourt and diddle at the sf position. Quote - and gave up on of the better backups in Glover for worse scrubs What has Glover done so far? He's averaging mediocre stats. I think that this deal is a fair deal for both teams. Suns got to dump RIP's contract and got a very solid player in Mike James. For the sixers, I need a SG/SF type player because AI is now playing the PG position. I felt that RIP, Glover and Terp can help me at that spot. Title: Sixers-Suns Trade - Waiting 91 Post by: CelticsGM on June 16, 2005, 07:11:15 AM I like the deal for the Sixers who get younger and don't give up too much starter material.
With AI taking over the PG spot, James was expendable. Rip/Austin at SG and Terp/Davis at SF will be solid choices there. So unless Terpening really is a "D" potential and regresses in TC, there is a clear-cut winner in this trade. On the other hand, the suns don't lose too much short term as Hav / James / Diddle (a really SMALL forward) CAN man the backcourt now (without much backup help though) but is this really better than Hav/Diddle/Terpening when you gain just 3 mio cap space ... :?: Title: Sixers-Suns Trade - Waiting 91 Post by: SunsGM on June 16, 2005, 10:31:53 AM after review, i beleive our deal has to wait until day 91 to be completed, as terperning was dealt less than 60 days ago.
thanks Title: Sixers-Suns Trade - Waiting 91 Post by: PacersGM on June 16, 2005, 11:13:40 AM sorry guys but i think this shouldn´t be allowd to trade a guy only because of the 60 day rule. there should be a rule that nobody can be traded back to the original team within 60 days or released and signed from the original team also wihtin 60.
Title: Sixers-Suns Trade - Waiting 91 Post by: NetsGM on June 16, 2005, 11:17:14 AM There should be a rule like that, and there will be, but there isn't currently.
Title: Sixers-Suns Trade - Waiting 91 Post by: NetsGM on June 16, 2005, 11:30:03 AM Future bastardizations of the 60 day rule in this variation won't be allowed:
http://phillyarena.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=13195#13195 I should have done this after the Hawks/Sonics trade last year, but let it slide.
