Well, this all but completes the offseason for me. Yao, at 7'6, 310 is a monster like only 1 other C in this League, and he is 33. I know have an ALL WHITE, ALL TALL frontcourt with:

C Yao Ming (7'6)
PF Chris Mihm (7'0)
SF Peja Stojakovic (6'10)

This rounds out really nicely with House and Davis. My starting lineup age wise is 25,26,28,27,26 which ranks me as one of the younger teams. My defense should be great:

A-/A-/A-
A-/A-/A-
B/A-/C+
A-/A-/B-
A+/A-/A-

Should be one of the upper defensive teams, and for the first time I won't have any problems scoring with Peja, Yao, Davis.

This gives me much more depth and much more to work with than I had last season.

My pick this year should be ok. It's a slow rebuilding process

this is a good trade for both teams IMO, the Peja/Yao thing didn't work real well for the Rockets so why stick with it?, they now get good big men in Boozer and Gooden along w/a young player who is a good all-around player in Ellis

For the Raptors it's obviously a good trade because they get Yao, hopefully for the Raptors Yao and Peja work better for them as it will because of the best PG in the league, Mihm should be a good complment to Yao also

When did Yao Ming become white?

When the doctor cleaned the blood off him after he was born.

Uhh, hate to break it to you but Asians are not considered white...

Very curious what the Rockets are planning on doing with Gooden and Boozer.  Neither is tall enough to play center, and neither has SF skills either.
Ellis is a tweener...  Maybe in this next TC, his improvement will define his position. Right now, he looks like an undersized shooting guard.  One good TC, though, and he could be an offensive force.
Diop and Boozer is a good frontcourt, great rebounding.
Gooden at the SF is iffy...  Have to see how that works out.  Finley can play here as well, but that did not work well in Toronto (Boozer had serious foul problems)
If Ellis ups his defense, he and Ward will be an intriguing backcourt.  Ellis's ballhandling at SG will help Ward quite a bit.
Although, with Finley in the mix, I have no idea who will be starting.  Finley or Gooden could come off the bench, or Ellis could.

For the Raps, this gives them a great team.  Yao and Mihm are a tall, good rebounding and defensive frontcourt, and Yao is a very good offensive player.
Peja is a top scorer in the league, his only weakness is his defense.
Davis is easily on of the top 3 PG's in the league.
Lack of depth might be what holds the Raptors from a championship this year.  As starting 5's go, they have one of the best now.

Raptors and I have interesting teams.

Yao, Mihm, Peja, House, Davis vs. Okafor, Dalembert, Battier, Pettit, Billups.  Neither team with a bench to speak of :)

I think Boozer may be able to hold his own at center. I would give it a try if were the Rockets GM. I don't think Gooden plays at his best at SF. I would know, I had him for quite some time, on two different occasions.

Gadzuric, Ferry, Swift, Ginobili, Nash and a Bench  :D ...  My team should be good for 50 wins again, but I am hoping to make an improvement still...

Boozer is only 6'9", and had foul trouble at the PF spot.  At the center spot, that foul trouble could be even worse.  Or it could get better.  Boozer is not quick, nor does he have shotblocking ability (as eviidenced by his 0.6 bpg last year.)
I like Diop's size and shotblocking next to Boozer.

If he isn't quick, then so be it. Doesn't make much of a difference if he's at center then or at PF. If anything, he'd be better fit at center, because there are more high profile scorers at PF. With his excellent rebounding and relatively solid defense, he might play well there.

Well, we may find out.   :D
I am guessing the lack of help defense will have Boozer or Gooden fouling out.  We shall see...

True that, but who needs great players coming off the bench? I have lots of good defenders, and that should be good enough.

As for the Asian-White thing..whatever. When I look at Yao Ming, I see a tall man whose skin is white.

And Boozer was always a good enough defender. Opposing PF's never really killed me.

... which normally is HUGE reason to stay away from such a player. Well, I hope we don't get into a ridiculous black-white debate again after that "Nash is MVP" debacle is about to move from the front pages ...

Asians are not white (just like Arabs are not white).

And the color of one's skin is not a reason to stay away from them.

Sorry, both comments were ignorant at best, racist at worst.

i don't think that rasicm is issue with this...me too, i'm white but i also prefer black players more...i don't know, i just have more confidence in them.. :?

Well, that's stupid.

Of course, that's not as harsh as staying away from the players, like the Celtics said, or calling the debate "ridiculous".

But hey, I'll take my titles anchored by a Bird/McHale frontline.

Yes he is white. Obviously you didn't cath was i was saying. I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT RACE. I'M TALKING ABOUT SKIN COLOR. COLOR=WHITE.

You cannot call someone white without speaking of their race.  The two are intertwined.  When you call someone "white", that has racial meaning, no matter how you meant it in your own head.

Calling someone white, then claiming that you didn't mean it by race, is the definition of an ignorant statement.  For proof of that, just look at the responses to the comment.
