Celts additionally cut SF Schader and C Harrison to make room on the roster

I like this trade. I get a very good big man in Lafrentz, who may or may not start. He also has B potential, so he may even improve some. Mashburn would just have been on the end of the bench, so his expiring had trade value to use. I also wanted my young guys(Bellamy, Beals) in the rotation, so Banks was just taking up space. Strong is a decent player, but doesn't hurt too much to lose him. And the 1st rounder is an added benefit.

Celts are really turning things around, I love this trade for them. I thought it might take Pierce just to get rid of Raef's contract. Mashburn is a very solid player, not just an expiring contract.

yes, that's why I prefer THIS expiring contract. On the other hand, I might deal Mash as well if I get very good young talent back ...

This trade cannot happen, I think.  David Harrison was traded in the Mikael Pietrus deal on Day 170.  Will have to be restructured, 60 day trade rule applies...

Crap. Celtics just signed off. The trade would still work if Harrison was just taken out, and he'd cut Harrison(and Schader) to make room on the roster. So can we do this?

Harrison has 2 years on his contract, and the Celts are under the cap next year...  That 1.3 million could interfere with his cap space.  Not knowing what his plans are, it is impossible to tell if that would make him change his mind or not...

Oh, Harrison's not an expiring?  No, I won't do that then.  That's something he'd have to agree with.

As a matter of fact, the trade initially was Mashburn, Strong and Banks for Lafrentz and the first. And he said that he would cut Harrison and Schader to make it work. I just suggested that he add Harrison and I add a 2nd rounder. I am leaving in the 2nd rounder now, because I'm a nice guy.  :)
But I am 200% positive that's what he said, that he would have cut Harrison as well.

He lives in Austria, he won't be up for a long time. For the trade to be cancelled over such a minute and insignificant detail, just sucks. Can you have him cut Pavlovic instead then? He is expiring.

I cannot do anything that he may not want done.  Having 1.3 million of wasted salary next year isn't a minute detail.

I will extend the 24 hour period to trade Mashburn under 2 rules:
1) The Cavs cannot trade Mashburn to any other team after the original 24 hours.
2) Neither the Celtics nor the Cavs can sign any player on Day 3 FA and use them in this trade (thus, the extension wouldn't help you by adding players today, only giving you more time to fix it with what you have to work with now).

Well, I gave my best shot for Lafrentz, but that wasn't much, and that contract scares the be-jesus out of me.

Oh gosh, I'm so stupid, forgetting about the Harrison 60day trade rule. Of course I will cut Harrison now to make the deal work !!!!
