Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: NetsGM on May 22, 2005, 07:41:12 PM Well this sucks :(
I even lost out on Watson. And Payton retired. Looks like it's time to wait for next year. Seriously. I'm not saying I won't be above .500 or anything, but without a good pg my team can't contend. Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: RaptorsGM on May 22, 2005, 07:41:26 PM THat went pretty good for me...look for a big trade after Tommorow's FA.
Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: NetsGM on May 22, 2005, 07:42:33 PM That's a HUGE contract for Gooden. Congrats on finding someone to take it...
Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: RaptorsGM on May 22, 2005, 07:43:56 PM Yup, someone is taking it, and I'm getting someone back.
I made a bid on Andersen that was 4 years and more money than Bulls, but Gooden must have accepted and ate up my cap space. Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: RaptorsGM on May 22, 2005, 07:44:52 PM Can't believe Shaq wanted 6 years..I offered 3, thought he would want a smaller contract given his age.
That was actually great for me....mostly because Nets didn't get one of the big 2. Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: NetsGM on May 22, 2005, 07:45:41 PM why would anyone want a small contract?
Look at the Sonics starting 5. shaq hoiberg dickau stockton english 1 proven superstar, 2 should be superstars. Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: KingsGM-old on May 22, 2005, 07:45:49 PM GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!
Shaq to sonics?!? that's bad, that's my division. but i got bobby jackson and now i had to trade fabrizio for SF Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: RaptorsGM on May 22, 2005, 07:48:26 PM Damn, I was really hoping to get Kittles with the MLE.
Now I have 1 trade done, and another dilemma. Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: NetsGM on May 22, 2005, 07:48:35 PM BTW, Andersen to the Bulls was a perfect signing. Great guy to go along with Griffin, much better fit than Traylor.
Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: CavsGM on May 22, 2005, 07:51:17 PM Quote from: RaptorsGM THat went pretty good for me...look for a big trade after Tommorow's FA. After tomorrow's FA? Gooden can only be traded within the next 24 hours, meaning up until tomorrow's FA. Crap. I got no one. Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: NetsGM on May 22, 2005, 07:51:54 PM Yup, he's right. 24 hours from the time of this posting.
Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: RaptorsGM on May 22, 2005, 07:54:10 PM So, if tommorow's are up before 730, i'm fine :)
Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: BullsGM-old on May 22, 2005, 07:55:48 PM Quote from: NetsGM BTW, Andersen to the Bulls was a perfect signing. Great guy to go along with Griffin, much better fit than Traylor. Thanks man, I'm so stoked about getting him. And damn, that was a HUGE contract for Gooden. I offered him a 6 year contract starting at 7.5 mill with 10% increases Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: RaptorsGM on May 22, 2005, 08:02:14 PM Would I have given Gooden that if I had planned on keeping him? No, probably not.
Title: Re: Day 1 FA Results Post by: ClippersGM-old on May 22, 2005, 08:30:06 PM Quote from: NetsGM 2007 181 Clippers Sign SF Eddie Jones for $4,500,000 over one year. I love this signing. I would have never expected this. I needed depth at sg and sf and this is more than I could wish for! Only one BIG problem... he is not on my roster?! Can someone please fix this? Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: MagicGM on May 22, 2005, 08:34:02 PM well, there goes my fre agency :D
Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: NetsGM on May 22, 2005, 08:35:00 PM he is on your roster, you're just viewing a cached page.

The bad news is that Shaq just arrived in my division! Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: GoldenStateGM on May 22, 2005, 10:33:47 PM The Shaq move is a complete shock...
Shaq and English are a nice combo... Wow... The Pacific division just got very interesting... Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: PacersGM on May 23, 2005, 02:10:50 AM can someone explain me the heat signings...
i can understand jones but also watson and with the length of the contracts he will be without any capspace in the next years..??? andersen was a good pickup maybe a little too long but he is worth it eddie jones for the MLE i never thought this would happen.. i was pretty sure the hornets would offer him more ro someone else with capspace great steal clippers.. i get what i wanted but if dikembe will decline i am in big troubles :? lets what the nets can do with their money and if the raps are able to trade gooden what a big contract... i think yao didn´t get more.. Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: SonicsGM on May 23, 2005, 03:13:10 AM I actually offered Shaq three years, but I am fine with the six year signing.
Huge addition to the Sonics. Back to the finals we come@! After a training camp with Dickau, English, Hoiberg and my SGs, plus an MLE, LLE and a third signing, this team could be very good. I am very shocked that Shaq signed with the Sonics, but happy to have the big guy. Huge addition to the Sonics. Back to the finals we come@! I did not know that something like this could happen in SSBA! You offered him a 3 year contract, but it ended up being a 6 year one? I thought the player could only accept what he was being offered. Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: SonicsGM on May 23, 2005, 06:42:07 AM I think Dabods misunderstood what I submitted.
It's ok..no harm, no foul. I'll keep him with the max offer. Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: RaptorsGM on May 23, 2005, 08:55:37 AM Wow, well, actually that could mean that Shaq signed with you BECAUSE of length of contract.
I won't complain because if that is true, Bods screwed up, but he wanted Shaq too, and I'm just happy to keep Shaqw out of NJ. Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: NetsGM on May 23, 2005, 09:02:48 AM Oops, you're right. You did say 3 years.
Since it's my mistake, you have the option. You can keep the contract as-is or you can trim the last 3 years off. BTW Raps, it wasn't just the years, but the Sonics were able to offer him a contract starting at 15.3 million. That's 5 million higher than your starting salary. Of course, I'm a little confused as to how this happened, since the maximum salary is supposed to be: 10+ $1,000,000 $14,875,000 Of course, I got that from jemagee way back in the day. It's possible he was wrong. But when I hit the max button, that's what came up. Damn.....I offered Shaq 5 years. Had I entered the Sonics in as 3 years...maybe I would have had a shot. Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: RaptorsGM on May 23, 2005, 09:06:47 AM Well, that's pretty messed up again, how they can offer him more than the max.
Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: NetsGM on May 23, 2005, 09:08:56 AM Obviously our listed max for 10+ year veterans is wrong.
Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: RaptorsGM on May 23, 2005, 09:09:50 AM We oughta change that ;)
Considering how someone could have offered Shaq 14.6 mil thinking it was the max, and that just wouldn't have been fair to them....anyone do that? Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: NetsGM on May 23, 2005, 09:16:22 AM Everyone who wanted max simply listed "max", except for you. Of course, for you, you listed the # and I just entered max anyway because your calculations were wrong.
However, for people like me, I was basing my plan last year as getting as close to the 14 million mark as I can. But it's too late to fix that now.l Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: RaptorsGM on May 23, 2005, 09:17:40 AM Well, like I said, don't matter at all to me :)
You get neither, I get Yao :) Of course, I have to lose Boozer. Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: NetsGM on May 23, 2005, 09:29:09 AM Well, the chart Jemagee posted was very wrong, for many of the years of experience.
Updated: http://ssba.phillyarena.net/files/rules.htm#trades_salary Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: RaptorsGM on May 23, 2005, 09:32:16 AM And now it's right. Good job.
Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: PacersGM on May 23, 2005, 09:33:50 AM Quote from: RaptorsGM Well, like I said, don't matter at all to me :) You get neither, I get Yao :) Of course, I have to lose Boozer. well great trade for you if h accept... can´t really see how boozer and gooden are worth yao and peja.. if the injury still are there like last year okay but without.... i don´t think we should allow to change the length of the contract or the money for this year since everybody started with the same infos otherwise we should restart the whole FA period... if the sonics offered the max for three maybe they wouldn´t have shaq .. also i am not sure if the heat couldn´t give him more for three years... Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: KingsGM-old on May 23, 2005, 09:40:48 AM conspiracy!! :)
Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: NetsGM on May 23, 2005, 09:41:28 AM the heat could have started him at 34 million for the first year. It was his decision not to.
We've always operated the same way, if you wanted to offer someone a max contract, all you had to tell me was "max". So everyone who told me max (which was everyone for those two players, except for Raptors, who started him below the incorrectly listed max value) were on the same playing field. The fact that the listed max value was 500k less than the actual max value wouldn't have made a difference. Free Agency is definitely NOT going to be re-done. Basically what it comes down to is, everyone who wanted to offer someone a max contract simply said "max", so having the wrong #'s up there wouldn't have affected what people bid. The only difference would have been how people prepared for free agency, and that we can't change now. Title: dasda Post by: HeatGM on May 23, 2005, 09:44:30 AM fuck....the rules just changed...i thought i offered shaq the max...dammit... i offered shaq 14.6 mil which is the maximum when i first check..now its 15.3 mil....dammit....
this is writthen in the rules right?? More than 3 Bird Years For players with more than 3 bird years, you can offer them up to the maximum salary allowed based on experience, regardless of how much cap room you have. Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: NetsGM on May 23, 2005, 09:49:46 AM Heat: you were able to offer him 120% of his prior years salary. The rules didn't change, it was always like that, and I remember specifically telling you that.
Title: Day 1 FA Results Post by: KingsGM-old on May 23, 2005, 09:51:28 AM this is turning into SHAQGATE... :)

We talked about it for 3 pages.
As for your comments, Pacers, I can certainly see why Rockets would do it, although we shouldn't discuss it too much before he accepts ;) Peja is expiring, and has a greed rating of 93. He's going to be a bitch to resign. Ellis could get close to as good as Peja. Gooden could get to be 20-10. Boozer already is 23-12. Plus he gets a first. Title: dasdasd Post by: HeatGM on May 23, 2005, 10:10:44 AM right....i forgot....my bad...this just sucks...i'll have to break my team up... :(
