Title: 2006 SSBA Champions....
Post by: Iverson2Korver43 on April 25, 2005, 02:08:54 PM
Is there honestly any team that can beat the Mavs in a 7 games series???

I think I have the defenders at the right position to at least challenge them.  They whooped me when I played on the road, I play them on day 105 at home, should be interesting.

But they should win the championship.

The Heat could have, easily I think, until they traded Marion away...
The team that beats the Mavs need to have a great shooting guard, since that is the Mavs biggest weakness.
I think the Nuggets have a decent chance.

I believe I can... season series is 2-1 for the Mavs. Mavs won 2 home games (both by only 6 points), I won my home game by 23!! I have yet to play them one more time this season at home. But I think I can steal a game on the road in a 7 game series. I have the defense and rebounding up front to compete with their strong frontcourt. But Maggette and Gordon will make the difference!

I don't think anyone can.

I think I have a chance.  I'm 0-1 against them w/o Martin and Allen, 1-1 with Martin and w/o Allen, and I have one game left when Allen comes back.  Obviously, I need my team to show up, but Camby's been a beast ever since Kenyon came back; the Camby/Gooden frontcourt just didn't gell at all.  That should allow me to, I hope, break even with Arajuo and Dampier, and my backcourt trio should compensate for the huge numbers Nowitzki's likely to put up on my SF's.

Also, 16 of my last 20 games are at home, so I should be making some headway towards them before the year is out.

I've lost by 26 and by 15 to them.

I am 1-1 versus them. But the game I lost was with Gasol who played just 13 minutes because of an injury. The game I won was with my yeam after the gasol trade.

I'm 1-0 vs the Mavs, I beat them by 11

The Mavs are the best SSBA team ever.

Thanx for the props, but I won't call it "the best SSBA team ever" since my team haven't won a championship yet.  Wondering if my team can win 70 games.

You're the best team SSBA has ever seen. If you don't win a title, there is something wrong with you.

The only team that comes close is Twan's cheaters.

There's nothing wrong with me, I'm doing great.  Well, anything can happen during the playoffs and if I don't win the championship it's the computer's faulth not me. :D

you know, had you not traded them a 22/11 c pf on a rookie contract we might not be having this conversation.

But hey, not that I didn't tell you so :)

It has relevance when complaining about how good a team is.  Can't complain about something you created.  It's like Jim O'brien complaining about youth.  Well, YOU decided to play the youth and put them in prominent roles by trading eric snow and cutting glenn robinson, and not playing skinner.

Yes, I can agree. That's really all he has done for his team, besides that trade with you (so you had a hand to :) ).

There was no possible way to predict that Araujo would have B potential, and improve so much in TC. If the ratings makers had been on the ball at all, he would have had Z potential like he does in real life, which is why he is such a bust.

But hey, you called Hoffa, and you called Mercer. I don't know how you do it, because both of those were completely random, but from now on when you talk I listen.

Title: 2006 SSBA Champions....
Post by: NetsGM on April 26, 2005, 09:11:09 AM
Well, Hoffa was easy.  Outside of realizing he was a 20/10 player from the getgo, I just looked at all the other players in the league.  I even showed you then.  There were 3 players in the league on rosters with F potential, all rookies (Hoffa, Luke Jackson, Donta Smith).  2 of the 3 players in the entire league with F potential are rookie lottery picks?  Sounded fishy to me.  Jackson now has a C potential and Hoffa a B.  Donta moved up to a D.

Hoffa's B potential did throw me for a loop though.  I figured C.  But I thought it was a bad trade even with an F potential.

Mason Mercer I had no idea he would improve.  Any praise I heaped on him was based off of his C+   B   B+   A- with C potential ratings before the draft.  I called him over Ellis not because of potential increase, but because of his skill in areas I highly regarded.  Had I known his potential would have been what it was, I probably would have used the 3 pick to trade down to the Bulls or Spurs and get him.

That's why the draft is such a crapshoot.

You were right about Hoffa, and it was my bad. He had a B= inside at the time, which is good for 20 ppg. I was thinking he was a 15 and 7 guy. Turns out he was 20/10.

I'm not gonna lose any sleep about it. How many times in the history of the SSBA have the Mavs had a fantastic regular season then lost in the first round?

We'll see.  The key to the Mavs right now is Dampier.  He's ridiculously overrated in this league (2nd only to Dirk's defense).  The program obviously has no concept of a contract drive

Hopefully he'll start to decline in 2-3 years, then they become human.

His backcourt is exploitable.

if someone like you or I lands Amare in the offseason...

I think a front court of Mihm, Boozer, Amare could handle Dampier, Araujo, Dirk.

And I think a front court of Dalembert, Okafor and Amare could handle them too.

Plus, both of us should have better backcourts and better depth.

Good thing for the league he turned down my trade offer of Larry Hughes  :D (where he wouldn't have lost a starter)

How often does a guy with 76 loyalty test the FA market?
The only top FAs that I see testing the waters are Redd and Gooden, and God love you if you give Gooden a max deal.
Shaq might come out if he demands a giant contract and the Heat refuse to pay up. I don't see why they would do that though.

Last year, and Nets, you can correct me if I'm wrong, EVERY top FA made an offer to resign with their team. It's just that Z and Hughes were rejected.

Post by: NetsGM on April 26, 2005, 12:20:27 PM
Neither Hughes nor Z made offers, actually.  I remember in our last year in the old league, LeBron didn't give the Cavs an offer (we never actually got around to that FA though, lol).  Yao didn't the year before (even though he ended up resigning with his prior team, for the max).

It happens where the top players move in FA.  Just not often.

If I had to pick one guy with the best chance of moving it's Amare.  High loyaltie's high, but his play for winner is higher.  But it would take a near collapse for the Wiz to not make the playoffs.

Usually, it is the 2nd tier guys whose old teams aren't quite willing to max out.

Hughes, while overrated and overpaied (IMO), would put the maves over the top. Like 75 win territory.

hahaha...can anyone beat the mavs??? heres your answer...HEAT 108, Mavericks 97;Heat 114, MAVERICKS 96 ....2-0 in the series  :D Q rich has been hot...he's replacing marion   with better shooting percentage than marion thats why im number one in FG prct...shaq and Q and jefferson taking most of the shots.. i think my trading marion is showing great potential....giving Q his shots and jefferson contributes like Q....
