Title: depth chart?
Post by: PacersGM on April 22, 2005, 03:09:44 AM
is it possible to change the depth chart during a sim? My problem is that after 5 days i would like to change my lineup and put redd back in.

I'm gonna answer for the Nets and say "nope"

Every GM would have to be informed about injuries and be given time to adjust their depth chart. Can you imagine the slowdown?

10 sim days is pretty much the optimal amount of time accouting for efficiency/strategy... To be honest, I would not blame a commish for simming 20 days at a time.

yea you are right. but i meant it the other way if you know that somebody will come of the IL. for example i would give a depth chart for the first 5 days and a second for the rest. i can understand if there is a clear no.
maybe someone can tell me what i can do to in such situation.

I have been in that situation before and will be again this coming up sim.  Tony Parker is out for the next 5 days.  So I have to leave him off the IR or he won't play at all.  Then I will set up my DC like he was active:

Parker/Kundla/Parker

What the program does is move Kundla up to the starter spot.  And uses Newman who is the 3rd pg on my active roster as his backup even though he isn't on the DC.

Starting with day 6 of the sim Parker will play and Newman will be back collecting splinters.

Nope, I can't do it.

If people would be allowed to change during the sim, everybody would start customizing their depth charts for each opponent.  If people gave me 10 depth charts instead of one, a task that already takes me 45 minutes to an hour would take me 5 hours.

Place your injured players where they would normally be.  The computer should just skip right over them to the next person in your depth chart.  Yes, you'd only have 11 available guys to play those first couple days, but how many of us use more than an 11 man rotation?
