needed a true SF in Granger, don't like his D handling but do like his potential. Vern Fleming was a 25-26 ppg person back in the day, and I pulled a pick out of it. Malone is a scorer, surprised me with his rebounding, but for as much as he gets to the FT line he is horrific at converting. I improve my team rebounding which I'm one of the worst at the league and I gain a A- defense small forward which is hard to find. Now Landry is my true scorer and I can see what some of these other players are worth. Still retain a probable lottery 1st round pick and get younger for the longhaul.

I figure it's worth a shot. A inside with B+ rebounding will definitely help this club. Malone will get plenty of put-back opportunities if he can clean the glass after my outside guys miss.

Interested to see if Malone is the answer to getting the Sonics above .500....also interested to seeing my entire new team focus of outside scoring with 3 of the best shooters in the country (and I added Vern who has A outside and a history of scoring 25-26 a game) will fare over the next sim.

I could be wrong, but Karl Malone has never been a winner, I think you have to stay away from guys who have been a part of so many poor-mediocre teams. Vern Fleming is a good spark off the bench in this part of his career and Granger is still young and could develop into a solid defender/rebounder.  With the 1st, I like it for the Jazz.

Agreed...I am 2-3 years from seeing what this team can do...I wasn't going to wait around for Malone to age while seeing what young guys I need to keep/get rid of...if these young guys don't work out...well at least I have 2 picks in the future to give it another shot. There was no way I was going to work out a deal for a Scottie Pippen caliber player, I at least know I have a solid back-up in Granger and finally have a player playing in his natural position at the 3 spot.

I have some experience in this league and past success to trust my instincts and my instincts said take the short-term loss for greater gain in the future.

I still think it works for the Sonics...they have some aging veterans and are stuck around .500...even if Malone was to be a 6th man, he definitely makes their rotation stronger.
