Spurs agree.

We trade Cassell for Ellis and end up with 5 draft picks between 14 and 25 to add depth to my roster.

Good deal. Raptors trade down in picks for a big improvement at PG. Spurs move up a lot with their picks.

interesting deal, the Raps are a big time contender now in the east....good deal for the Spurs too, get a good big to go w/Manu and a lot of picks to jump start the rebuilding...

As you just heard, Spurs are taking Ellis, so I still have a shot at Mercer or Griffin.

Cassell is an All-Star.

I lose 2 firsts, and gain 2 seconds, which does nothing for my team, but I now have a starting lineup of:

Mihm
Boozer
Finley
Carter
Cassell

With Ostertag and the number 6 pick as my two bench players.

Well, I'm not sure Ellis would be my target at pg.  I'm not as in love with him as some are.

IMO this trade will depend on who's available at 14.

Holy crap, that is a lot of firsts that the Spurs have now.

Yeah, the Spurs own this draft.

I think guys like Kyle Hobson will be available with the 14th pick.

But IMO Cassell and Griffin > Ellis, Hobson and the 25th pick

it depends.  I don't think Cassell did much for the spurs since they're not exactly contending now.  So it made sense to move him.

Well, I think I have more options than the Wolves did last year, and Cassell gave them 10 apg.

He could get 12 with me.

Only difference between Hobson and Griffin is thier potential.

Also I should be able to add players like Litwack, Cunningham, Strickland, Meyers, Van Exel.  Having the 14, 18, 21, 24 & 25 picks are going to be key to developing my team.  I have 4 years to evaluate 6 rookies.  Also I have some solid role players already.  I am betting a lot on this draft.

Right, Hobson and Griffin are basically the same ratings-wise, other than potential. It's tough relying on a player's potential when choosing who to draft. He could explode through the roof or improve barely at all.

Well, I still love this trade for me. I think I'm the team to beat now.

One of the best F/C's in the game with likely Mihm, Boozer, Ostertag and one of Ferry or Griffin.

And a B/C of Finley, Carter and Cassell with Banks and Weslch first off the bench.

And I still have the MLE to use.

It would be a mistake to take Ellis over Griffin IMO. I think that it's a pretty tough pick to take Ferry over Griffin...

I'd take either or at this stage.  And they would probably be traded too.

Like I'm trying to trade the 6th pick.
