Title: SSBA Playoffs Prediction
Post by: KingsGM-old on April 23, 2006, 02:25:10 PM
It's cool we're starting the playoffs the same time as the real NBA. So, i'll make some of the predictions:

East:

Nets over Pacers in 6
Hornets over Raptors in 6
Magic over Wizards in 7
Celtics over Heat in 6

West

Wariorrs over Mavs in 5
Grizzlies over Suns in 5
Clippers over Jazz in 6
Kings over Blazers in 6

As a possible upset i see Wizards over Magic and maybe Blazers over Kings.

hahahahahaha, you should get worried over your poor team perfomance vs Blazers this season, im planning a suprise for T-mac called defensive freak, but still havent make up my mind if to let Tmac play and shut the others, or shut down T-mac but then others will have more space, too bad Bosh got injured, if he didnt i would do that for sure and prolly sweep you 4-0.

You guys really don't think the Mavs can win one game :moon:.  I will bet my $70 that my team can win at least one game, who wants to bet?  Just post it here.

Round 1 up.

Can't believe the Nets/Pacers and Hornets/Raptors series went to 7 games.  Just shows how absurdly deep the east is.

West was boring.  1-2-3-4 advanced.  Only one "upset" in the entire first round.  Very un-FBB like.

Congrats to the Grizz, good series, good luck the Kings and the rest of the way.

As far as the series, Had a round high 142 py performance in game 5, I just couldent contain/score enough to keep up with the Grizz.

Good luck to the rest of the teams still involved, Hopefully it will be entertaining to see how it plays out on each side.

beat the celtics...4 games to 1... i should be happy but shultz went down in the first game as emmanuel griffin went down in the first game also :) from there...keogan just took over the entire series....averaging 46.8ppg  :bounce:  bods how many days was shultz injured? can he suit up for round 2?  if shultz was available for round 2...i wont be scared with nets since we've got the season series tied...

Wow, what a series between the Raptors and the Hornets, capped off by a game 7, 100-98 victory by the Hornets.
Some bizarre happenings in that game, with Swift/Piatowski holding Melo to 6-25 shooting, and Gadzuric getting 17 boards in just 21 minutes.

Really it was unexpected performances by Swift and Radman that allowed the Hornets to take this series.
The Hornets are relieved to get out of the 1st round alive.

great series -- marion outplayed pettit in every stats cat but it wasn´t enough
marion finished with avg. of 24points 11reb and 3 stls and 1blk while holding pettit under 40% shooting from the field and 30% from 3...

my point guards played lincoln at least even with the surprise play of nate who scored an avg. of more than 8 in less than 15 mins... again lincoln couldn´t shoot at all almost the same % like pettit and snow was even under 20%

Artest lost the rebound battle with mike but played him even in every other cat. Kobe and battier i would say pretty even but i can´t understand how kobe couldn´t get a FT the whole series  :?

boozer had big troubles with sammy even i won some cat in scoring and rebounding ... boozers bad % at C might have been the difference

And now to the MVP of this series.. congrats to Emeka for holding my best player under his season avg. and outscoring him enough to be the difference.

I am very proud of my team which battled the defending champion to a full series.

 :screwy:
this is probably the most depressing series i ever had, easily topping the Cavs debacle from 2 seasons ago. Not that it caught me by complete surprise since I knew it would be a hard fought contest, but it seems like everything that could possibly go wrong did.

First I lose my starting PF and major aquisition Griffin for the series after 9 minutes in game 1 (hey he's not injured anymore so he probably only went down for 6 days or so ... all this after missing 10 games total in his 8 year career !!!!)

Then, I lose the first home game in OT.

Then, and this is the worst, freaking Shultz went down. Unbelievable, of all possible injuries that can happen it's THE one that kills my game plan. I'll explain later.

And fittingly I lose game 4 on the road by 2 and game 5 at home by 3. just perfect.

Now the "Shultz factor": During the season Lenard had lots of fun with Bertram, scoring 32ppg on 60% against his "defense". Out goes Shultz, in comes Holton, one of the few defenders causing problems to Antonio. Big defender and shot blocker. For the rest of the series Lenard gets 22ppg on 45% shooting. But thats not all. Shultz' got 17 shot attemps per during the season and Keogan 23. So what happens now? With the no-offense Holton Keogans attempts climb to 32 per game (after 25 in game 1) and his scoring output goes from 35ppg in the reg season to 49ppg for game 2-5.
Guess it's save to say this injury decided the series in favor of the Heat ...

At least this now ends my speculations if i had enough to beat the Nets in a series, which i believe I do. Try again next year.

Ooops, sweep! :) The only one in the entire round.

This was just classic melting of the opponent. Won the series by a average 20pts. Blazers never had a chance.

Up next, Warriors again in a classic 2nd round showdown.

Talking about experienced cats, Tracy and Duncan both lifted their perfomance like crazy

Mcgrady 3rd scorer of the league with 33ppg
Duncan 4th with 31ppg

Mike Bibby 10apg holds 6th place and Booth with 3.5bpg at #5.

Great job by the vets.

If it wasn't for the strange letdown in last sim i'd be playin Grizzlies now instead of the Warriors, but oh well..

Wow, great (and scary) series, Mavs....
Awesome for fans of basketabll, with such high scoring games.

Not quite sure what happeend to my team's defense in those three losses, but what a greats series.

And Dirk, to end the series, shows his leadership, going for 51 points in the final game, to win the series.

And now, sigh, the Kings...  The one team in the West that gives the Warriors problems, with their overpowering rebounding. 2-2 during the regular season, but Andre is out for 4 days.  Should be a good series.

A series that defines the future of the Warriors franchise, to be honest...

My team shown a lot of heart cameback from 0-3 to even it up to 3-3.  Went out of gas in the third quarter of game 7.  We will be back.

Should be a great a series.

However, if the Warriors lose, the rebuild will commence.
That is how important this series is for the squad.

A truely amazing series. Both of us were unbeatable at home, showing just how important home court advantage can be.

Raptors had some great all around performances, but Melo was shut down. However, Yao was also contained by Swift, making it a battle of depth rather than stars. Max and Billy Joe Kim really stepped up for the Raptors, with Max averaging over 20ppg for the series and BJK getting 12.7 rpg and 3.1 bpg in a great series for him.

Hornets, I tip my hat to you.

Does not necessarily have to be.

The other three Eastern series (i leave the west alone, anything can happen there) produced 7 road wins, including 2 against the Magic who lost all of 8 home games all year (none to the Wiz) and 2 against my Celts who had 9 home losses (none to the Heat) as well as one vs the Nets (5 all year).

Homecourt does matter little in FBB ...

i knew it i should have change the damn tactic and put Steve on T-mac, but well im happy anyway, getting to POs with the best record so far and team improving from year to year is enough for me for now, Hoffa unfortunately couldnt do it by himself

Game 1 -10pt Hoffa had 26/20, Telf was good 24/5/9 but except for this two players my team sucks completely offensively.

Game 2 -28pt Hoffa again good 17/17, Telf as well but same as game 1 no help from others.

Game 3 -24pt at home Ouch, Hoffa 19/16, was wasting way too many balls this PO series, shooting pretty bad in all 4 games, the rest of the team was invisible, Buehler did well in this embarrassing loss.

Game 4 -17pt Tmac droped 50 to finish the series.

Congrats to the Kings on a boring series and good luck in your quest for the TITLE !

oh yeah and  :moon:

Only the Sixers, Bucks and Nuggets had worse home records than away records during the regular season. If there were no difference between playing at home and playing away, then you would expect about half of the teams in the league to have worse home records than away records.

I sincerely doubt that home court advantage is done away with in the playoffs. There are many independent factors that turn an away team into a winner, and pointing to road wins is simply making the mistake of not seeing the forest for the trees.

It would be far more anomalous to see a series where the road team one every game versus a series where the home team won every series.

Round 2 up.

Really surprised at the Grizzlies.  I know they were the #2 seed, but IMO serious underdogs to the two time defending WC champ Clippers, and really shocking they won 4-1.

Hornets just streamrolled in 4.  For a team that won 70 games, I'm really struggling right now.  Pettit (who's typically a great playoff performer) is really struggling.

And this is why its never a good idea to rebuild. Retooling is okay but not rebuilding. I am very suprised at my 4-1 series win over the clippers. But if you look at my team on paper, I do have the talent. I am really glad that I didnt blow this team up the past 2-3 seasons when I easily could have. Hopefully my team can suprise the Warriors in the next series. Good luck Warriors.

Title: Re: SSBA Playoffs Prediction

Hm.
Well, either my move of Yao to PF was brilliantly anticipated by the Wizards, or the Wizards are just completely nuts and decided to match up a 6'9 B- defender against the 7'6 MVP. I find both to be pretty strange. Maybe he did it to free up Maggette, but...
Anyway, I swept, but most of the games were pretty close.

Now, on to the Nets.

wow...heart breaking  :bash: hehehe a close one..could have won the series if only i won game five....lost only by one point..... molina went down in the first game...and didnt do well without molina for games 2 and 3....when molina suit up for game 5....it was a heart breaking loss by just one point....this could have gone either way... keogan was still terrific... he is still the league's leader in scoring.... and his 24... so there would be a lot of playoffs ahead of this team....

Another great series, Kings.
I think the Warriors have lost to you about 3 times in the playoffs during this league, so it is good to finally get a series win.
Homecourt advantage was the key, I think, especially for game 7.

James Posey did a great job defending Dirk in the first couple games in the series, luckily Luol Deng really stepped up his offensive game.

Another series where Dirk takes the team on his back in game 7, this time with 35 points, 6 assists, and 4 steals.

2nd ever Conference Final appearance for the Warriors...  Good luck, Grizzlies...

Title: Re: SSBA Playoffs Prediction
Post by: CelticsGM on April 26, 2006, 09:29:05 AM
Congratulations to all the teams advancing, these playoffs are really entertaining.

Nets again did it in game 7 (I believe their record in close-out games must be nearly perfect and come with a huge point differential), but hey did the Heat look great too. After seeing what Shultz provided I regret having thought i'd stand more of a chance if he wasn't injured. This is a future title team we see here.

As for the Hornets series, I think the Wiz move (or none-move since Barner played C in round 1 too with big success against Dwight) makes little sense. No way was i expecting the Hornets to move Yao anywhere from C so playing him with a 6'9 and 6'8 guy is truly strange (was Diop injured for the whole series?)

Predicted east finalist: Hornets. Nets seem to have bigger trouble getting consistent output from anyone but Pettit and with Stromile aboard (glad i could assist here ;-)) I see this being the Hornets year.

The Warriors finally did it. Great series, maybe decided by Iggy's absence. Dirk was slowed considerable in the games he played so maybe just maybe this could have been the Kings year otherwise. Does the TD trade look dumb now? Heck no, it worked perfectly, what other goal can you have than a CHANCE at going all the way (before injuries hit you).

Also props to the Grizzlies on continuing their marvelous run. The Clipps didn't impress at all this season so their loss doesn't completely surprise (but having one title i'm sure they get over it quickly and retool soon)-

Predicted west finalist: Warriors. I don't think this series is by any means decided yet and may hinge on a few matchups, but as their GM said: "Never doubt the Dirk" (i know why i worked hard to trade for him last offseason. Schabi is nice an all but the Dirk takes you deep in the postsaeason)

Finally i have to admit I'm pretty glad to be part of a great league like SSBA. It's getting better with the years, like truly fine wine ...

Title: Re: SSBA Playoffs Prediction
Post by: GoldenStateGM on April 26, 2006, 10:23:24 AM
Not playoff related, but...
I think we are starting to see the rise of some teams, and beginning of the fall of some others.
The Kings and the Warriors have been two very good team for the past 5 years, but I think they have at most 2-3 years left.
The Clippers have another 3-5 years of high level competition, as do the Grizzlies.
And I think the Mavs are about 2-3 years from being the top team in the West.

In the East, the Nets have another 3-5 years of dominance left (until Emeka and Sammy age a bit), and the Hornets are in the same boat (dependent upon Yao and Swift aging), and the Heat, Celtics, Wiz, and Raptors all working their way up, and should be at the top in 2-4 years...

Nets again did it in game 7 (I believe their record in close-out games must be nearly perfect and come with a huge point differential)

Haw.  You must have missed my playoff collapses (I think I lost 2 game 7's in the finals :( )

Up until the finals I'm clutch though  :bash:

Why? Your team lost to the 2nd best team in the League.

cause of fictional players and his oldies will prolly retire now, at least TD, if they stay however he might give another shot, but i hope they retire and so does he :D

Haha, no I meant when I said that I'd rather play you than the Raps or the Wizards.

Title: Re: SSBA Playoffs Prediction

or because more of the players are computer generated rather then real now?

Correct.

I haven't done the job with my team. Considering the age of my team this was supposed to be the VERY last title hunt with this crew. They were doing great this year as far as injuries are concerned (until Iggy screwed me over), but next year i wouldn't stand a chance. Some of my C's, either Booth, Fortson or maybe even Duncan will probably retire or seriously decline so there's minnimum of chance for getting a title or for some serious playoff run so i don't want to fool myself.

I would stay, but as i said, with all this fictional players coming around and less and less real time players to build a team around, i just don't feel the joy or excitment with that. This is a great league and a great crew but i just don't find any fun in running a team consisted of fictional players. I was hoping for some retro or real time players draft during these years but since that's unlikely i just think this is probably the right thing to do.

But anyway, thanks for great support.

Congrats to the Grizzlies.

As CelticsGM already said, this was a good year by the Clippers, but not much more then that. I have been very very very busy with work recently and I just did not have the time to really concentrate on the league this season. Hopefully I can bring the Clips back next season to where they belong.

Good luck to all playoff teams left!

Congrats to the Hornets, they certainly deserved it.  After 2 straight 7 game series, I was running on luck.  Dropping the first 3 in the series was a hard hole to climb up out of, and the injury of Pettit in game 6 was the straw that broke the camels back.

Of course, had I been able to win one of the first two games on my home court, which I lost by 1 point each, Game 7 would have never happened :(

Title: Re: SSBA Playoffs Prediction

Both teams did a great job defensively, both teams did a great job holding onto the ball.  Rebounding was just about even.  The key to the series was Dan Gadzuric.

He did a great job on Emeka (particularly in Games 1-3).  Emeka had been my best player the first 3 rounds, and he couldn't hit a shot (although he did drop 30 points in game 7 and had a triple double in game 4 with 19/15/13).  But overall his % was terrible.  Nice job Dan.

It means I will likely give it one more shot.  I'd like for them to go out as a champion.  But don't build your future plans on Emeka or Pettit being a free agent.  I'd like for them to retire as Nets, one way or another.

Congrats Hornets GM,  it really has been a long time and it's well deserved. and congrats to the Warriors as well. it will certainly be a interesting final round.

Will the Hornets be first to win the titles in SSBA 1 AND 2?
Will Dirk carry his second franchise to the title?
Will Yao finally win a title?

Lots of huge questions to be anwsered over the next 2 days.

Congratulations Hornets and Warriors (as predicted) for your first SSBA final appearance.

I knew the Hornets could do it but by no avail I thought they could take 3 on the Nets home court (after losing 5 at home all year the Nets now entertain a 7-5 playoff home record while losing the first game at home in all 3 series, wow !). Perfect games, you earned every bit of the finals appearance. But all that probably wouldn't have been enough if Pettit stayed healthy.

(Still, that game 4 amazes me and shows what the Nets are capeable of: a HUGE triple double (13 ass?) from Emeka, 10 blocks from Samy, 49 from Pettit, 28/12 from Lord, 55% as a team on the road against the Hornets D. )

And more props to the Grizz for going that far, nearly pulling off another upset. Great great season. But Dirk wouldn't be denied. I'm glad for the Warriors to finally make it, they had to endure their share of injury problems in recent years as well. Plus they are one of the nicest GMs around here, always friendly, always a good talk. Great that's rewarded too.

How important is the Dirk factor? Just look at Deng, who might be the next star, getting 39 one game and 9 the next. Dirk would NEVER get 9 points, even if his shooting % have dropped he is just pure consistency. Thats what true stars do.

Finals winner: Hornets. I have to stick with my East superiorty prediction here. They are just so good from 1 to 5 and nobody can stop Yao.

I actually don't match up well with the Warriors. I am more geared defensively towards playing a team that tries to score inside at the PF position. Podkolzine really does well against pretty much anyone he faces there (it was actually Podkolzine who started at PF and played so well against Okafor.)

I don't have any answer for Dirk. Last game we played he dropped 50 on Swift  :(
The good thing is that we were 4th in the league in opponent's 3-point percentage. That should help to contain Hinrich and Deng.
Yao, my top player, actually struggled a lot against Finley in both regular season matchups. Hopefully he can break out of that and put up some good numbers. I will also look to Radman and Livingston to put up some good outside shooting numbers, since the Warriors were second to last in the league in o3pt%.
Homecourt advantage is obviously big for the Hornets.

I needed some luck (well, a whole lot of luck) to beat the Nets, and I think it's going to take just as much to beat the Warriors.

Good luck Warriors.

Hornets, should be a great series.

In our first game, you had 70  rebounds against my squad.
And well Yao has not shot well against Finley (he does not have a huge size advantage), but he averaged 20 rpg in the 2 games...

I think if it is a defensive struggle, the Hornets win easily...
If it's a scoring fest, the Warriors have a chance...

Good Luck, Hornets

SSBA might be delayed for a day or two.  I've had computer problems on the computer that the save is stored (don't worry, the hard drives fine, it's a motherboard issue).  I'm going to be working on the computer tonight, and if I can't get it working I'll take the hard drive out, put it in an enclosure I have, and run it from my laptop.  So it'll be done either tonight or tomorrow night, depending on how the computer goes.

Really, it's the motherboard that's DOA.  Unfortunately, replacing the motherboard is essentially stripping it down, taking everything off, then putting it all back together.  This is probably a 2 hour process, but the thing is you can't just stop halfway through, and leave computer parts lying across the kitchen as your cat plays with it for the next day.  So I just need to find 2-3 hours that I can spend working on it consecutively, and I just haven't had the time yet.  Especially with an exam coming up on tuesday.

Yeah, back when I lived out in the suburbs, we used to have cats that would show up with birds/mice on our porch all the time.  They even learned how to shimmy up the side of the door and ring the doorbell to get us to let them in.  Which got rather annoying at 3 am.

Only Dobermans for the last 12 years. First one was a bitch, died year ago and now we have 10 months old male.

Had 3 cats (all black) before our first doberman arrived. All 3 of them escaped after couple of months. Dog wasn't interested in co-exist.

Yeah, i have a horse of a dog, it's literally knocked me and my 6'5" frame down, he doesn't know his own strength, but he gets his ass kicked by our other little shit of a dog, who's a shelty/collie mix. My dog just jumps to knob with both of his arms and just pulls himself back until the doors don't get open. But i guess it depends on the knob. You can't do that on some of them.

He's so annoying during the nights, he checks everyone. So we're locking our toilet, bedroom and sleeping room doors with keys cause that's the only way to stop him from slaming the doors and stealing stuffs from the house, which eventually ends up somewhere in the backyard in some mud.

my goodness, there's little more depressing than a sim league discussion board with no simming activity.

DOGS ! That's all you have to talk for days now? The lowest intellectual pet animal known to mankind? Mindless trained robots running on remote control from their "masters" (IF they are trained at all and only BEFORE that usual "I swear, he's never bitten before" incident happens).

ok, i'm a cats guy, if only because they keep their dignity. Always. You will NEVER be the master of a cat, but you can try to form a friendship respecting each others life and habits. Now try that with a dog ...

btw, you know the MOST ANNOYING fact about dogs? Their masters themselves. Probably it's because I got little children, probably because i live in a real big city, but half a million people would do a sigh of relief if dogs are banned from the inner districts of this city. Why? First it's forbidden by law to walk around with dogs unleashed. A third of the dog owners give a shit about that (and take into account that about 75% of all dogs outweigh my 4yr old by far). Second, it is ordered by law that dog owners need to clean up the excremental depositions from their beloved animals, yet nobody gives a shit. The whole city, parks, sidewalks, it's like a giant dog toilet wherever you look or go.

Especially with children it's major depressing, as you can't let them run around anywhere it's even slightly green without being certain
a) they will return crying because a golden retriever (if you're lucky)/doberman(if you're not) tries to "just play with them"
b1) they will step into multiple dog excrementals (if you're lucky)
b2) being little children they will fall into dog excrementals (if you're not)

Most US guys here won't understand a bit of all these problems, but european cities are a lot smaller, streets are narrower and that whole law stuff exists on paper only. Dogs have a huge lobby in the legislation and among the police, nobody gets to pay any penalties for violating the law ... until some casualties happen and everyone is caught by complete surprise. Just depressing ...
 :(

I love to talk about dogs. Have them all my life. First retriver (solded to the police cause my brother and i was not very kind to her. We were just a 2 stupid kids), after that we had Scotisch sheparrd (Lessie). The last two are dobermans, and there is no way i would buy any other dog except doberman now. I'm just in love them. That's a nonsense. Dogs can't be mindless and very few of them are trained. Most of them never had any kind of training in their life.

Well i see where you're coming from but in the majority of cases masters are the one to blame for, not dogs. How they threat team? How they learn them to behave among people? Do they teach them to be good or vicious? Socialization process is the most crucial when you have a working dog like doberman, german sheparrd, pit bull (i'd ban them), rotwailler etc. If they have been locked and isolated during their first months of life, off course he'll be dangerous later and it could harm people. But then again, you, as a human, would be the same if someone kept you in a basement for the first 10 years of your life. Breeding and quality of the blood (parentage) is the most important.

Yes, as i said i understand. Being a father as you are i can uderstand you. I'm having troubles with parents while walking my dog all the time. Although, my dog is harmless for kids, i can still understand them.

ok, that brainless part was wildly overblown (we all know there's Lassie, the McGyver of dogs ...)
;-)

but

Let me repeat that, I SHOULD R-E-S-P-E-C-T BLIND DEVOTION ??? That coming from a man with a brain? Hey, I'm not in the military or live in a social system of devotion. I respect dignity as I said earlier. From a partner, from a friend and from a pet animal living in my family (mice, hamsters and alike thus don't count, these are short-time guests).

btw, the huge problem with that devotion thing is that way too many dog owners command that from their human partner too, in some way or another, and here it get's ugly ...

furthermore ...

Quote
... Although, my dog is harmless for kids, i can still understand them.
WOW, that's the bullshit i expect from a dog owner. Listen: NO DOG IS HARMLESS, NONE. A dog is a domesticated, hopefully trained animal AND THERE'S NO WAY TO GET RID OF IT'S INSTINCTS. Just not possible, unless you surgically manipulate it's brain. In a crisis situation under the wrong circumstances that animal will go back to it's instincts and do what'S in it's genetic programming.
Fortunately more and more dog owners (hey, we are speaking of <1% here, but it's a start) believe in this and react accordingly, using leashes and muzzles in public (or better whenever someone else is around). I couldn't care less if a dog bites it's master - which NEVER happens - or a family member - which OFTEN happens, mostly little children. They know (or should know) the risk and are willing to take it. Fine. But leave everyone else out of danger.

Quote
... very few of them are trained. Most of them never had any kind of training in their life ...
Exactly. And then they become weapons  - where nobody who wants a dog has to do any kind of education or prove he can handle a dog (i've seen little girls walking Dobermans on a leash that are double their weight. Ridiculous !!!). This is especially true for the fighting races like Pitbulls, Dobermans, Rottweilers and a few others. They should be banned altogether from inner cities.

I know there are som dog owners who are responisble, caring, act the right way from avoiding public littering to not putting someone else in danger. I feel bad for those as they are lost in the majority of irresponisble owners. But that's how life is ...

1) Last time i checked devotion is a virtue. Not something bad. You don't expect a devotion from your life partner? Tom, poligamy is not allowed in Europe.  :)
2) Doberman is not a fighting dog. He's a working dog. That's the big diference. Pit bulls are fighting dog. And they don't belong in the same breathe with dobermans.

With teeth? Why don't he uses his arms?

Good point. Your dog isn't looking so smart now, is he Jazz?

lol, dogs don't have thumbs, it would be kind tough to grip a goor knob and turn it, right?  I think using the teeth would be much easier.

Heh, sarcasm doesn't transmit well over the internets...  :(

It may be called frolf...never heard it called that, it's real name is disc golf, you just throw a frisby into a chain basket.  We have the "World's Biggest Disc Golf Event" this Saturday about 15 minutes from me in Hughesville PA. Anybody who wants to come and challenge me to a game of disc golf is welcome, I'm not that good yet though.

Hmm, I didn't think that Dirk would have that much influence on a series, but he does. Negatively. It's clear that Vlad can't contain Dirk, but that Dirk can't slow down Vlad is somewhat surprising. Otherwise it's business as usual. Fin has some success against Yao, poor Ruffin has nobody he can defend here and Lavar does a great job on Luol.

Right now, Livi has the slight edge over Kirk and that's why the Hornets lead the way.

I see this going to 7 games with two road wins coming. Sorry Dirk, one end of the court doesn't cut it  ...

 :moon:

Livi has the edge?  Why do you say that?
K.  Hinrich - 24 ppg, 11.3 apg, 3.7 rpg, 1.7 spg, 2.3 topg, on 48.4% (fg) and 58.8% (3pt)
Livingston - 19.3 ppg, 11 apg, 5.0 rpg, 1.3 spg, 3.0 topg on 52.1% (fg) and 40.0% (3pt)

I would give that slight edge to Kirk, imo.

Yao is averaging 29 ppg and almost 15 rpg, with 3 bpg on 50% shooting
J Finley, while playing well (3 ppg, 11 rpg, 4 apg, 3 bpg), just cannot contain Yao.

And Vlad has 21 ppg and 10 rpg on 48% shooting. The scoring is great, but it is the rebounding for him that is important.
Dirk is playing brilliantly offensively, with 33 ppg with 6 rpg, on 52% and 56% shooting... Needs to kick up the rebounding and defense....

It is rebounding that is winning this series so far.  Whoever has won the rebounding competition, has also won the game.

It's really hard to get too excited for either GM.  I think you're both one of the top GM's, I think you both have deserved it (for years), I think it's great that one of you finally got it, but I think it sucks that Hornets are still without a ring.

An amazing series Hornets...  Great, Great series...
I am boggled that the Warriors went on a winning streak without Dirk playing the final 3 games.
Devin Hinkle played just incredibly in place of Dirk.

The key may have been small, but moving Hinrich up to the 2nd option for the final 4 games was probably the key, especially after Dirk went down...

Just a great series...  Well done, Hornets!!!

incredible hornets up 3-1 with 2 home games left and lost in 7
the key imo was that the warriors increased their defense after dirk went down and the hornets couldn't defend the arc. great series congrats to both... happy to challenge you next year for the title

Oh what a stunning finish to the season. The WEST, yes you read that right, a WESTERN team took it all. Beat my prediction ...

Congratulations to the Warriors for going all the way. You deserved it - as much as the Hornets would have deserved it, you both made an incredible job as GMs and are truly nice guys.

But does ANYONE here think the Warriors would have won the title without the Dirk injury?

I say: Not a chance, this series was done after game 4. Hornets in 6 or maybe in 7 if Dirk explodes for 54 to force a game7. But suddenly Dirk is done, the Hornets lose the SF offense since Vlad suddenly meets some defense and for the Warriors just about everyone steps up big time. Nice turnaround.

But then again, maybe I'm off here since the Warriors apparently HAVE made some change for games 4-7. They only lost game4 by one in OT, won game5 convincingly and games 7 big as well. So this might as well have been possible WITH Dirk, who knows ... at least it's the perfect example why doing the finals on 2 days to allow changes makes sense !

So once again, hail the new champ and let's try again even harder next year.
 :hail:
