Alright, here's my problem. I'm trying to burn movies onto CDs, but they're all too big to fit. CDs are small and only hold 700 MB. Yes I know DVDs would work, I just don't have a DVD burner. So my question is: Is there a way to burn a movie onto two discs so it fits? I know that there is a way, something involving splitting the file, I just don't know how. Any help?

It depends on where you want to play these movies after you backup.  Using a program like DVDx http://www.labdv.com/dvdx/ you can convert the DVD's to divx file which will play (decent quality) on computers.  Or you can try to go to SVCD but quality will suffer pretty much but you may be able to play it on DVD players.  The only way to get good quality backups is a DVD burner, preferably double sided but not necessary.

Also this is for home dvds you made as anything else is illegal and bad.   Very Happy

Haha, well that's not relevant.

The CDs I would just play on my DVD player.

Then like I said maybe SVCD but you will get bad (from what I've tried) quality if your dvd player will even read them.  Here is a decent quide to it if you would like to try.

Or just go ahead and buy this http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1491355&CatId=89

Yeah, like Wolves said, you're not going to get anywhere near dvd quality.  Your best bet is to go with divx and only watch them on your computer.  What format are they natively in?

Why not just take the to a "The Beat Goes On" or something like that and sell them?

Burning them is just useless....bad for your pocketbook, bad for the enviroment...

The ability to fit them on 1 CD.

an SVCD you're going to have to put it on 2-3 CD's most likely and it will be inferior quality, and may not even work on your DVD player.
